Command your squad through the treacherous forest in Save the Forest, an indie strategy roguelite where each decision could mean survival or doom. With a diverse cast of 25 units and endless skill combinations, Jens Arvidsson challenges you to outwit the corrupted woods.
About this game
There's an understanding between humans and the animals in the forest - "Don't trust Morgathrax the evil circus director". For reasons currently unknown, the denizens of the forest appear to have forgotten this pact.
"How bad can he really be? I try to stay away from politics" - Bear
Now it is up to the people of the village to defeat the corruption spreading through the woods. Rally a band of townsfolk, wander into the forest and face Morgathrax to put things right again.
It might be tough going at first, but if you fail, recruit a new band of villagers and try again! These are hardy humans that are not afraid of a fight.
What you'll find in the forest
Turn-based tactical gameplay
Units can do two things, in order - move, and attack (Like chess pieces, kinda!). Tactical positioning is key to success.Telegraphed enemy attacks
You'll know exactly what (most) enemies will do on their turn. Hope this helps.
Recruit and upgrade
After each battle, you'll be able to spend coins on upgrades and new recruits.
Will you invest heavily in a crack squad of a few units, try for a balanced approach or grow your team to a size worthy of its own HR department?
Is First strike worth it compared to recruiting another Priest?
Varied squad composition
Each run allows you to try new combinations of units and skills from a large pool of possibilities.
More than 28 recruitable units and over 130 different upgrade types means there's more than one way to cut a tree (some of them involve shooting catapults).

Special events
Even before the corruption started, the forest had a lot of mysteries within:
- Is it possible for the frog merchant to make a profit if he doesn't charge for his wares?
- Why are gnomes constantly racing their horses?
- How does one attain the favor of the fairies?Only one way to find out!

Second Open Playtest next week!
Psst! If you haven't yet joined the Discord, join us! All righto, it's time for another playtest! Chapter 2 is still under reforestation and a proper demo is imminent - so now I need your feedback and opinions during next week! The playtest opens 9th of March sometime in the wee hours of European morning, and runs for the whole week.Among the biggest change is that most melee units can now be upgraded with the Swimming ability, enabling them to go into water. Combine it with Marine and turn water from obstacle to advantage! There's also been some pretty big balance changes as well as a slew of new draftable abilities (It's gotten a bit harder but also easier - if you know what I mean). Hope to see you in the playtest! /JensRead full article on Community Announcements (Jens)
