Ouef V1.5: COUNTRY FRESH EGGS (30% sale this week!)
WELCOME TO OEUF V1.5: COUNTRY FRESH EGGSIT HASNEW COMMUNITY MAP - OEUF COUNTRYLAUNCH PARTYNEW MUSIC TRACKSNEW FEATURESSTABILITY UPDATESOEUF COUNTRYOeuf Country is a brand new community level, headed up by the very lovely ZachDaniel and with contributions of Zaratustra, Yvon, DoomKitty, Learners, Liman, Case, and TheGreatEscaper, and myself too! It was a blast to be able to contribute to it and see it evolve; it has lots of really funny corners and novelties to delight! It's not as huge as Oeuf City, but it *is* big (it also has a lot more interrelated regions than the first community map, which I find very charming), and you will have a lot of fun exploring around and gather its 137 stars. The difficulty isn't extreme, and even new players should be able to have some fun bopping around looking for stars to collect. On that front, also I just added a bunch of achievements for collecting them: LAUNCH PARTY To celebrate the launch, let's all play Oeuf Country together! This weekend I'll leave a server up and running with it, and we can all hang out on Saturday to play - I'll livestream, and there'll be voice-chat on the auld discords as well :) 30% SALE FOR LAUNCH WEEK The game is 30% off until the 27th of August, so it's a great time to jump in and see what lovely things people have been making to roll about in. NEW MUSIC TRACKSI added five new music tracks to the game for you to enjoy and use in your own levels (OST has also been updated) OTHER NEW THINGS IN V1.5You can now compare two versions of a map and see what the difference is (cf https://increpare.github.io/oeuf-documentation/map-editor-tutorial.html#section-10-comparing-different-versions-of-a-map ) You can ban steam users from editing ( https://increpare.github.io/oeuf-documentation/map-editor-tutorial.html#section-92-banning-users-from-editing )The ability to see who placed what in multiplayer editing - entities now keep track of who last edited them.I added a 'hardcore' difficulty tag to the in-game browse...Read full article on Community Announcements (increpare)AnnouncementsOfficial
Increpare's Pick: INTERNAL PROCESSING (gent)
Internal processing is one of the most visually well-crafted levels for Oeuf, and in its own very particular way. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/3e16bbfae9eb70f8a5573bec3204e7e05503fc48.png It's at its heart a 'tower-climbing' level, with an industrial theme, but each floor has a very different style - not just visually, but also in terms of gameplay - and the two tie very well - the pipey floor is piping goo around the floor, and it's easy to lose your footing while vaulting about from one to the next. Ditto for the floor with lots of plate metal and glass (much of which lies in shards on the ground) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/13e4b097fae16fcf6e84a0f2ffa159e5b8170ad8.png It has a nominal difficulty rating of 'hard', but has a gradual difficulty slope so most players will be able to enjoy a chunk of it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/ac5eedbe4e9e7014b5eb65c13f6d3835c3c708f2.png As mentioned in a previous post, there is a prize of an Oeuf sticker-pack for whoever has a level that gets an "Increpare's Pick" award :) (who doesn't already have one :) ). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/13e4b097fae16fcf6e84a0f2ffa159e5b8170ad8.png It's such a nice, polished level! Go play if you haven't already! (Another update in the pipeline as well, there will be more update posts. AND also there are some speedrunning accomplishments that really need acknowledgement, but they deserve their own post - next week!)Read full article on Community Announcements (increpare)AnnouncementsOfficial
Increpare's Pick: Tony Oeuf's Pro Skater - School II (Julien)
So, someone made a whole new kind of level for Oeuf. Absolutely unprecedented, and quite nice (inspired by an old skateboarding game, is my understanding). There are new kinds of platforming in it, not seen in previous Oeuf levels: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/21f5cb2a5c8cc465ddcc9cbf628609fc6c3d0b18.png This alone is the biggest leap forward in Oeuf platforming technology since monkeylicka's Nutty Putty. On the topic of individual platforming challenges, I also had the terrible embarrassment of spending a while trying to get one particular star, having had categorically ruled out the obvious way of getting it, because I "knew" it was impossible to get that way because of how I "knew" how the physics works. But no it turns out it was gettable in precisely the obvious way lol. More than individual jumping challenges, the general feel of the environment is also good. I'm very used to Oeuf-City-sized areas, but these are a bit more spacious, and while there's a lot of platforming skill involved, there's also a lot of "looking around trying to find a way to get to star X" involved, that I find very pleasing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/a9d87670ab0102f8836bcc77ac3ebcd29d4cf6e0.jpg There's a certain (slight) bareness to the level that - on one hand it maybe feels a bit plain, but on the other hand it has a relaxed sort of spaciousness that's quite nice to explore. And there's still a quite high density of stars scattered about. I wonder if this contributes to its Playstation-era mood? I think so. (I mean this whole paragraph in a positive way! It made a good and unique impression!) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45832197/115e96701f00415685e2c929c23ccd4dc77f7cd7.png Oeuf City provided a vindication of the 'star pickups' in terms of "how do you let people work on a map together without getting in each other's way", but this provides a vindication of them in a different way - a jolly exploration romp! It's also fun to play multiplayer. I should also say, while getting all the stars might...Read full article on Community Announcements (increpare)Patch NotesOfficial

Ouef V1.4: BIGGER THAN BEFORE (30% sale this week!)
WELCOME TO OEUF V1.4: BIGGER THAN BEFOREIT HAS OEUF CITYMULTIPLAYER MAP EDITINGBUILT-IN STEAM WORKSHOP BROWSERLOTS OF OTHER THINGS OEUF CITY The Oeuf community built a big city map together, many times larger and more open than the base game. I can finish the main game in about an hour, and the new level took me many joyful evenings to play through. Explore, and try to get all the stars (over 200 stars to collect!)! There are parts to discover and enjoy for players of all skill levels! The quantity and variety of places in this level is not to be underestimated. It has several new kinds of platforming challenges hidden in it. I really really really recommend it. Its difficulty never goes above that of the base game, and you can keep track of collected stars via the pause menu: The people who built Oeuf City: DoomKitty3000, DrMonkeyLicker, Machka6, Liman1, SabulineHorizon, Terzalo, increpare, Shadowxaf, Zach Daniel, and Gent. It was a wonderful pleasure and a privilege to hang out with ye. :) (Also thanks to other people who popped by and helped out with testing!) MULTIPLAYER MAP EDITING Make levels with your friends! It's how Oeuf City was made (and got very well tested and crazily optimized as a result of being used to make such a giant level). We'll be hosting a multiplayer map editing party tomorrow (Saturday the 6th) - pop by the discord to join in! IN-GAME STEAM WORKSHOP BROWSER Players have made such lovely levels that I felt obliged to make it as easy for players to stumble across and find them. I've also started manually tagging levels with difficulty and awarding some my stamp of approval to make it easy for new players to know what levels they might want to check out :) OTHER CHANGES The v1.4 has a bazillion bugfixes, optimizations, and mini features In multiplayer mode, the checkpoint teleport dropdown on the pause screen is restricted to checkpoints you've already visited. The checkpoint dropdown is now available in custom maps from the pause screen. New...Read full article on Community Announcements (increpare)
