Navigate through Unregulated's simulation and strategy by maneuvering colored boxes via conveyors to their matching chutes, all while ensuring the most efficient paths are created.

About this game

The Game

The game is about building and using a multitude of conveyors, on a grid, to make sure you can create the most optimal and organised route for different coloured physics boxes to travel on. The aim of the game is to transport these boxes to their respective coloured delivery chutes before the end of the day or you will fail and must restart.

The puzzle aspect of the game is from building conveyors. You only get a limited amount of destruction tokens. So you must plan ahead or else things will end terribly. Also as the game progresses, new box spawn pipes will appear, forcing you to construct new routes to the delivery chutes.

The daily box quota will always increase depending on how many boxes you deliver within the day plus a little extra making it exponential. Always pushing the player to deliver more and more, which makes sense considering the new box spawn pipes that will always appear.

-----------------------------------------

Failing is Guaranteed

Don't be upset at failing on a level after a long streak of days and a high-score. The point of the game is to get the highest score you can while making sure you place conveyors in the correct spots.

-----------------------------------------

Resource Management

You will earn money depending on how many boxes you deliver per collection. There are at least 4 each day. Money is useful to know which conveyors you can build and how complex you can make things. Although you may get a lot of it, once you place a conveyor down, you will not get it back.

Destruction tokens are gifted to the player if they complete a day. They will gain an extra one if they deliver an extra 50 boxes over the daily quota. They should only be used if necessary.

An extra tip is space, eventually you will run out of space. This technically makes it a resource, the most important resource of all. Plan ahead.

-----------------------------------------

Modifiers

The game has a lot of modifiers the player can utilize to mix up the gameplay, these include:

  • A difficulty slider for the daily quota, can make things easier or more difficult.

  • Box size! You can make the boxes larger, smaller or completely random!

  • Double the box spawn pipes! Instead of one appearing, there will be two.

  • x2 day time! Rather than 2 minutes per day, you now have 1.

  • x2 box spawn speed! More boxes!

  • Box models! You can customise the way the boxes look from other levels. Or make it random.

These modifiers are important as they can help with replicability! While also allowing the player to set themselves a challenge.

-----------------------------------------

Themes & Levels

There are multiple stages, each one has it's own theme and at least 6 levels. Each stage will contain it's own gimmick to keep gameplay feeling fresh as the player figures out and understands how to adapt to the changes each stage will contain. The changes aren't too drastic, it will only change one core aspect of the game and never overcomplicates things.

-----------------------------------------

Music

The game contains dynamic music, each level has it's own soundtrack. Each one designed to make the player feel panicked in a way, especially when it speeds up if the player is in trouble! Each track is designed to also fit with the theme of the level too as well as have something entertaining to listen to while the player panics over what conveyor to place and where.

    Unregulated V0.8.1

First update of 0.8! This update includes a ton of bug fixes that all appeared after releasing the major 0.8 update as well as a couple of new additions. Including a new colour blindness mode! You know... for a game about directing coloured boxes into specific coloured chutes, I really should have thought about this sooner.Anyway, here's the changelog!ChangelogNewColour Blindness Accessibility Options! In the options, under "Effects" you will be able to select up to 3 different colour blindness modes. The selection is: None, Tritanopia, Protanopia and Deuteranopia. On top of these modes, I included an intensity slider. I have no idea how well this will go, but 1 is set exactly for the colour blind mode. Anything less blends the default colour with the selected mode and anything more increases the colour blind mode effect. It's experimental, but something I wanted to include.Office Tier Selector. This is another new option under "Effects" that will allow you to select the different office tiers that you unlock while playing the game.ChangesUpdated all level logos for better readability.Significantly lowered all stage goals.Removed flying plane from Postal Warehouse.Changed flying aircraft in The Airport. (Removed the helicopter and added an extra plane).Removed flying vehicles from Cargo Shipping, except the one that flies in a circle.Added No-Build Grids to all levels that include out of bound grids. Some lights in Postal Warehouse, The Airport and Store Bought Convenience have been adjusted to not be as bright as the sun.Increased the shopping cart impatient timer from 10 seconds to 30 seconds.Game Over buttons now use white text.BugsForgot to add mesh compression to certain objects.Level select for Store Bought Convenience didn't show the actual stage name, instead it just said "Store".Certain string variables were being updated every frame, they should now only update when needed. One of the roads in Postal Warehouse was located under the map.Ocean should in Postal...

    Unregulated V0.8 Release

Hello! Today is the day Version 0.8 of Unregulated officially releases! Although it was supposed to be yesterday, I was having some issues with Unity's builder and had to make some very quick changes in attempt to speed up the process. Either way, this update is called "Store Bought Convenience"! The 6 new stages will be featured around shops and stores, where you must direct food items towards shopping carts! Once a cart is full, it will return to it's "Home" and will automatically add the items to the total score/quota.There have been a lot of other changes to the game since the last update, due to these new changes, there may be a few patches that will be made frequently (sometimes bugs just appear after release). So please bear this in mind.Another major change is towards the save system, I did make an earlier post about how to change your level scores so you can either unlock everything yourself or re-add your older scores (if you remember them). The new save files are not encrypted too! Do whatever you want with them, they are your save files anyway. Here's a trailer for the update:Now onto the changelog!ChangelogNew6 new levels! The Store. The aim is to deliver food items to shopping carts that will move towards one of their two coloured chutes!New music and effects! This stage will have different effects and music whether it's day or night.Dart the Angry Cart! This cart has a black trim and will move towards empty cart spaces to steal items. If items are stolen, your score will be decreased!Cart's faces will change depending on their mood. A coloured pop-up bubble will appear above their head to help notice.New modifier! The Jukebox! This will allow you to set whatever in game music you would like on any level. The main menu office will go through various "tiers" as you unlock new stages.New cursor designs!Added a no build grid area in some levels to help indicate where you can or cannot build.Updated logo!Added separators in the level modifiers.Added separato...

    Save Files are being Updated!

This means I've reworked the save system to be more "stage" dependant. Instead of all the scores being saved under one file, the game will save scores individually per stage. E.g. All Postal Warehouse scores are saved in one file, all Airport scores are saved in another, etc.The old save file will not be deleted, however, it is encrypted. So I recommend taking notes of your current scores in game and editing the new save files once you start the game when the new update arrives.Instructions:Before updating, open the game and note down all scores saved.Once updated, open the game so new files are created.Close the game and navigate to where save files are kept. For Windows:Press: "Windows Button + R", to open the Run window.Type "appdata" within the text field and click "OK".Navigate to: "LocalLow\\Somiaz Studios\\Unregulated".From there you can open the .json files (named after the stages) using Notepad or an equivilant Notepad app. For Linux:Open a file explorer app.Navigate to: "~/.config/unity3d/Somiaz Studios/Unregulated".Now you can open the .json files using a Notepad app.Once you've opened the save file(s), you should be able to edit the scores.Save and close the Notepad app you're using and reopen the game. The scores should have updated properly. It's a bit convoluted but this should work. I'm most likely going to leave the save files as unencypted so you can change it to whatever you want. I don't mind. That's all, thanks for reading!

    Unregulated V0.7.4

Like last time, noticed some bugs while developing the next update. Here's the changelog.ChangelogChangesSorter colour buttons have been changed to match the same style as other buttons shown.Blacked out windows have been updated to look like windows rather than iron bars.BugsFixed an issue where boxes wouldn't unfreeze properly.Daily quota could suddenly update each time a box spawner would appear, rather than at the start of a new day.Destruct marker was hidden for some reason.Fixed error that was sent by buttons or toggles when they could access the Menu Manager script.Small and Large chute entrances were slightly raised and crooked compared to a conveyor belt, causing boxes to get stuck on them.Version text should properly update to the correct version number.
