About this game

You wake up as Sarah in an old run down cabin deep in the woods. Bloodstains everywhere, and a chilling silence that screams danger. Trapped and desperate, you must escape before whoever brought you here returns.

The Coffin of Sarah is a 2D pixel-art horror game focused puzzle-solving and survival. You’ll solve environmental puzzles to unlock new areas, uncover disturbing secrets, and stay one step ahead of the creatures hiding in the dark. You can try to hide but running may be your only option when something unnatural starts hunting you.

Gameplay Features:

  • Top-down pixel horror with a heavy emphasis on a spooky atmosphere and cryptic storytelling.

  • Search for hidden items, cryptic notes, and disturbing visuals to help progress the story.

  • Interact with your environment to find keys, clues, and story-triggering objects.

  • Light-based mechanics: use a flashlight to navigate pitch-black areas, and reveal the secrets that are hiding in the dark.

  • Escape sequences where you must run from threats.

  • Environmental and logic-based puzzles that block your progress until solved.

  • Player choices that influence future chapters and contribute to multiple possible endings.

The game is being released in a chapter-based format. Chapter One is currently in development and includes the full playable area. More interactable objects and events are being added to foreshadow what’s to come in Sarah’s journey.

The full game is planned to span five to six chapters. As the story progresses, each chapter will increase in length and complexity. Once complete, The Coffin of Sarah is expected to offer 4–6 hours of gameplay.

    Patch 1.24.2026

Hello everyone! It’s hard to believe that The Coffin of Sarah has now been available on Steam for over one year. Thank you to everyone who has played the game, shared feedback, reported bugs, and supported the project. It truly means a lot and has helped shape the game into what it is today. Not a lot has changed in the game this past month besides the new main title screen and a few additions to areas in Chapter 2 that aren't available to players just yet. My main focus has been working on the story roadmap to make sure all of the ideas I have planned fit together naturally and create a cohesive experience throughout the game. I'm getting very close to having all of the major plot points mapped out. Once that's finished, development on Chapter 2 will begin moving much faster. I'll post another update sometime next month. Hopefully by then I'll have expanded more of the mansion and be able to share some exciting progress, as several major story moments are starting to come together. Thank you all again for your continued patience and support. I can't wait to share more of The Coffin of Sarah with you!
