About the Game

Team Up, then Blow Their Worlds Up

Fight through fully reactive pixel-physics alien worlds where everything burns, melts, shocks, and explodes.
Built for solo play or up to four-player online and couch co-op, so every disaster can be shared.

Per-pixel physics chaos meets multiplayer mayhem, turning every chain reaction into a shared disaster. Cascading explosions, melting terrain, volatile liquids, and unstable elements are now things you can unleash with friends - or onto them.

You are Convict Marines sent to unstable alien planets full of forbidden technology and dangerous relics - relics that the Imperial Empire insists do not exist. Redeem your honor by surviving your sentence and extracting with the relics - and try not to vaporize your squad.

Every world reacts at the pixel level. Fire spreads, liquids flow, electricity jumps, unstable chemicals explode, and exotic matter behaves unpredictably. One poorly-aimed shot can trigger a chain reaction that engulfs half the level.

Play solo or with up to three friends in seamless 4-player drop-in-drop-out online and couch co-op. Expect chaos: friendly fire, fast respawns, and even faster "accidents".

Decipher the Signs of Danger

Scavenge for alien Signs. Use that forbidden tech to craft, mutate, and overload your weapons and abilities. Experiment until you create game-breaking combos that should never be allowed in the hands of any marine.

Build a shotgun that fires homing teleporting missiles. Dash through walls to liquefy enemies. Detonate a small personal nuke when you die. Release swarms of suicidal drones every time you take a hit. The right Signs will turn you into a one-person disaster zone.

But be warned: Signs behave differently depending on how they are combined with your weaponry. Careless experimentation can erase you, your squad, or the entire level. The line between godhood and catastrophe is very thin.

    Making Signcrafting understandable with Socketing

Playtesters are loving the 'Signcrafting' (gun/ability upgrading mechanic) now, and they especially loooove the powerful guns they can make - once they "get" how it works.Except... almost nobody was "getting it" unless I was standing there right next to them to explain it. Uh oh.Turns out that most people don't think like programmers, so I completely reframed it into a more familiar metaphor: socketing!Read the full post over on the Slow Rush website.

Multithreading to use ALL your CPU cores, & time travelling for instant replays!

I have been neck deep in tedious engine work multithreading the heck of my custom falling sand engine - it's kinda difficult! But let's also talk about something GIF-friendly: time traveling!Read about it here: https://www.slowrush.dev/news/porting-performance-and-playback/

    Making Drop In Multiplayer Easy

Signs of Danger has both online and local co-op.Remote players are controlled remotely (duh), but I gotta support multiple gamepads for local players, with an easy drop-in/drop-out flow.Still, when playing singleplayer, you should be able to seamlessly swap between keyboard & mouse to any gamepad controller and back again.Read the full post over on the Slow Rush website.

    Signcrafting and Skill Trees

Most roguelites let you collect items to make overpowered builds, based on characters with some starting skills. But I want to go further than that. What if you could build your own whole skill tree? Let me show you Signcrafting!Read the full post over on the Slow Rush website.

1,000 wishlists in 48 hours! And what I'm working on next for this game.

I can't believe how well Signs of Danger has been received by everyone, especially given how rough the game is (and that my shoddy trailer-making skills meant that the trailer doesn't even really show any roguelite action - it's a wonder anyone "gets" the game at all).So I figured I'd write a few words to celebrate and to share what I'm working on next (yes, fixing up lighting is on the list, friends).Read the full post over on the Slow Rush website.
