Indie, Strategy, Casual · More free games
In Final Notice, strategize your way through a grim workplace puzzle CCG, learning from losses and perfecting your god-killing deck. Every mistake teaches valuable lessons in this casual yet challenging indie experience.
About this game
Welcome to "The Authority," the cosmic organization responsible for managing the life-death cycle of... everything.
You are a reaper - technically an employee - tasked with serving Final Notices to immortal entities who refuse to retire on schedule.
As with most jobs, you're expected to learn on the job, break a few things, and file the relevant forms afterward.
Final Notice is a dense, puzzle-like solo deckbuilder where you are encouraged - professionally obligated, even - to lose. Losing reveals weaknesses. Weaknesses become strategies. Strategies become victories you can brag about in the break room.
If you're hoping to win your first fight, you're in the wrong department.
YOUR DAILY TASKS WILL INCLUDE:
Experimenting with 110+ cards designed to synergize, contradict each other, and occasionally betray you.
Managing mortis, a soul-derived resource that Health & Safety insists is "safe enough" to use unsupervised.
Building and rebuilding decks after each inevitable workplace accident.
Battling procedurally generated bosses built from adjective-domain combinations.
Tracking status effects like Banished, Fogged, and Entombed - all of which are definitely covered under your contract. Maybe.
Revising your strategy because your starter deck is about as effective as a stapler against a hurricane.
THE INTENDED LOOP (PLEASE READ - HR INSISTS):
Attempt a boss fight.
Lose. (This is normal. Please stop filing incident reports.)
Return to the deckbuilder.
Rethink your life choices.
Discover a synergy you didn't notice before.
Beat the boss.
Hit a harder boss.
Restart at Step 2 until you clock out or management intervenes.
If you enjoy figuring things out yourself, welcome aboard.
If you prefer a guided tour and guaranteed wins, HR recommends transferring to another department.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Bounty Mode lets you fight curated bosses for training and performance evaluation.
Roguelike Mode exists for employees seeking "career development" or "creative self-destruction."
The game is dense by design - a puzzle you unpack through repetition, failure, and questionable perseverance.
YOUR FEEDBACK MATTERS
Final Notice is under active development. Submissions are reviewed. Suggestions are logged. Non-compliance is… noted.

Small Hotfixes - Final Notice V0.5.7.1
A (Not-so) Quick One!Not much here - I'm currently working on the roguelike mode and noticed a pretty ugly bug due to how I had the main menu setup - if you had a roguelike run active you couldn't play the bounties mode.WOOPS.That's now fixed. Also, the roguelike mode, due to me updating it, got a minor new feature due to some back end changes, cards now have typings stored in the back end that the card buckets can pull from, so expect to see more variance in a few buckets now. This will be expanded upon, but this update is just here to fix that pretty ugly bug. While You're Here-I was considering what to focus on with the upcoming patches, I'm shooting for adding as much content as I can into the game, then releasing it, but I've got a few ideas about what I'm doing with that too. Since this is such a small update, I'll just sort of explain where my head is at.Content FocusCurrently I'm stuck between a couple of options for where the content focus lies.Adding as many bosses and unlockable cards as possible, to provide a lot of content in terms of potential fights and mechanics. This would be a raw content focus.Adding quite a few bosses, but mainly focusing on the roguelike replayability, focusing on passives, card buckets, etc. This would be a roguelike focus.Trying to spruce up the UX/UI to make the game look as appealing as possible. This would be a visual focus. Not quite sure where I want to point myself here, and I've been going back and forth on it, but this leads me into the next part of the conundrum. What Do I Want Out of This?Being completely frank, I never knew! I built this game as a means to learn how to code - it's quite literally the first thing I've ever made past the point of a rickety prototype that didn't work properly. They say your first game is never the big one, not the one to get attached to. Personally I don't really mind if there ever is a big one, I work a full time job, I'm pretty well situated in life, this is more of just something I do a...Read full article on Community Announcements (mr block rocking beats)AnnouncementsOfficial
Shuten Doji, Visual Updates, New Archetype - Final Notice V0.5.7
Welcome or Welcome Back!Got a tonne to show in this new update - this update was actually available in the discord a fair few days early, so if you want to get in to the early beta releases, join the discord using the button at the bottom of the page. With that said, let's get right into it.New Boss - Shuten DojiWho?Shuten Doji is a legendary Oni from Japanese mythology, a demon leader that caused havoc in Kyoto, eventually meeting his demise at the hands of Minamoto no Raiko, where he was poisoned by sake and decapitated.Funnily enough in classic mythology fashion, this didn't actually kill him and his head kept trying to bite Minamoto monty-python style, who managed to not die to that ridiculous scene via wearing multiple helmets. I picked Shuten cause the story's funny I'm going to be so real.MechanicsShuten being a demon king who loves sake is represented in two ways. His first card of his turn is always one of three cards related to sake, with the reaper either milling two cards, Shuten recovering health or the reaper gaining mortis over turns. His sake habits (and a nod to the story) are also represented in his unlockable card, Shuten's Sake, but I'll get into the unlockable cards a little later. His "Demon King" aspect is represented in his unique cards based on how close he is to losing, Dark Pulse and Demon Call, which both add a slew of oni to your hand for you to banish or discard. Be warned - Shuten does recycle your discard back into your deck, so discarding the oni instead of banishing them could come back to bite you!An example of a few of the oni he can impart, each with different effects!New Cards and New Way To PlayGOOD LORD.So, I've been working on a new type of playstyle, thanks to the few people in the discord providing suggestions. As you might be able to tell from the above, this is more about getting copies of cards into your deck to inflate it's size or focus on only drawing a certain card over and over again, through use of things like Tripli...Read full article on Community Announcements (mr block rocking beats)AnnouncementsOfficial
Mandated Training - Final Notice V0.5.6
Welcome or Welcome Back!Firstly, thank you to everyone that played during next fest, there was a good amount of interest in the game with wishlists increasing by over double (!!!). Massive thanks to those that tried it out, I got quite a bit of feedback regarding the game, and I recognise the sorest point right now is the game asks you to read a LOT of text with very little direction. To try to alleviate that, I've added a new, short, guided tutorial that has room to be expanded in the future, as more frequently asked questions emerge. If you have something you're unsure of LET ME KNOW! I can answer it and add it in there. If there's enough questions asked and answered, I'm happy to create a new page in the game with a series of different tutorials, explaining everything from the very basics to complex interactions - I just need to know what isn't clear (which is probably quite a few things at the moment!)With all that said, let's talk patch notes - the majority of this is the tutorial so:Guided TutorialMeet Gary, the guy who will show you the basics. So far the tutorial has the absolute basics of the game in, there's more to do here I believe, but this works as a "this is how the game functions, and here's some important stuff" guide. Any suggestions towards it, especially additions, are welcome, but expect the tutorial to take no more than 5 minutes or so as is. It currently covers:What mortis is, and what it means.Card requirement and cost, with an example of how increasing your mortis allows you to play different cards.Ending your turn. How your opponents operate in terms of how they choose cards. An example of an opponent's turn.An overview of the active effects window. An overview of the combat log, and how to view cards played by the boss, along with an example of what a card with a status effect may look like in terms of both visuals and tips from examining the boss card.Lowering your mortis, and an example of a card that does so.Discarding 1 card per turn in cas...Read full article on Community Announcements (there is only soup)Community & EventsOfficial
Next Fest Celebration! - Final Notice V0.5.5
Welcome or Welcome Back!Kept you waiting, huh?In today's update we've got a new card, LIMITED TIME ACQUISITION as thanks for those playing during next fest, quite a few bug fixes and a little UX improvement.First up, the gratitude - New Card: GratitudeGratitude is more of a card made just to mark your presence, it's simple, but good. Perhaps that's the game at the moment, eh? Hopefully?Regardless, I appreciate the people who've checked out the game, hope you've enjoyed the time you've played, I hope you follow along as updates come out. This card will ONLY BE ACQUIRABLE between the 14th and the 20th of October 2025. After that, it'll be lost to time.Fixes and TweaksFix: Barghest's barks (haha) were previously the wrong colour, they now suit the palette.Fix: Fixed the overlays on the cards, hopefully. Previously they could get a bit quirky in how they displayed, especially entombed, but do let me know if there's any problems still.Tweak: Lowered the game sound for when you first launch it - apologies to everyone's ears.UI: Added a small effect on discard/banish count increase, just a nice little UX change.UI: Added a hint for what banish does on boss cards that banish, just to make it a bit more obvious what that meant.New: Added a few barks across bosses when certain cards are played - a playtester suggestion! Hop in the discord to suggest your own, or send an anonymous feedback form from the menu.Update Plans: As mentioned before, quite a few of the following updates will be mostly structure, QoL and bugfix updates, the game has what I want in it except for unlockable cosmetics, so content can be added in there as time goes on, no major systems left - even the cosmetics one is actually in the game already, just not utilised yet. Stick around to see what happens!Til next time!Read full article on Community Announcements (there is only soup)AnnouncementsOfficial
Clarity of Life - Final Notice V053
Welcome or Welcome Back! This update is the last one I'll be doing til late September - I'm going on a honeymoon trip so I'll be away for some time. When I get back though, there'll be quite a lot of work to do, cause next fest will be right around the corner (AAAAAAAAA).Combat LogYou may notice the insanely obvious new rectangle above your cards - this is the combat log! It's functionally working now, if a bit untidy, but this new combat log should make it so that you can more easily keep track of the game as it progresses, and scroll back through something if you weren't sure what happened. Now you might also think to yourself "all well and good, but what about the boss cards? 'Set Aflame' doesn't tell me what the boss card did. WELL, ACTUALLY ːsteamhappyːHovering over the boss' card play actions gives you this popup, and clicking it: Lets you reread the card! This is a pretty big QoL change and took up the majority of the recent development time, since I've basically done away with the old popup system. Let me know what you think - this update was actually out a week earlier (and worked on while being) in the discord's playtest group. If you want access:That's all I've got, a nice major system change for better QoL. I'll be back from holiday around the 22nd, where I'll jump back into my full time job and hopefully back into a series of updates for Final Notice, ready for next fest.Till next time!Read full article on Community Announcements (there is only soup)
