Explore a nightmare world filled with hidden truths in When eyes close. Piece together your fractured memories as you uncover the truth behind your monstrous transformation.

About this game

What if your sleep paralysis demon is more creative than you think?

"When Eyes Close" is a collection of standalone psychological stories. Choose a protagonist whose fate you wish to experience and dive into the nightmare of sleep paralysis, where an unseen force binds your body, and the demon at your bedside offers a deal.

Your goal is to awaken. But the path to it lies through a labyrinth of rooms, filled with fragmented memories that might belong to your hero... or to someone else.

  • Explore. Delve into the details. Every object, every note could be a key.

  • Remember. Piece together the story and appearance of your protagonist. Who are they? What did they do? Or what was done to them?

  • Guess. Find the one true bed among a sequence of random rooms that is yours. It is your only chance to break free.

Every story is a separate life, but not every ending is an awakening. And even if it is, was it worth waking up?

Dad, are you still proud of me?

Working on the next chapter: a model son, a soldier, and the creeping grip of paranoia. A beautiful tale of honor and service – will it end in glory or ruin? Dad, are you still proud of me? Hi everyone! I’m still hard at work on the next chapter. I’ve tentatively pushed the release into 2025 open date because my day job is eating up most of my energy. But seeing demo playthroughs and reading your reactions gives me a huge boost of motivation. This new story feels more experimental for me, yet the core theme remains the same: where can the irreversible lead us? How can a bright future warp into a nightmare? What is powerful enough to drive a good person to the brink of madness?Either way, development is moving forward—slowly but surely. Thank you all for your support!

    Working on the Next Story

Hello everyone! Now that the dust has settled around the demo, I’ve had time to process your feedback, watch playthroughs, and take a few notes for myself — all while starting work on the next story. If you haven’t played the demo yet (seriously, how come?), just do it! A bit of progress.Over the past weeks, I’ve picked up a couple of techniques I’d been meaning to try. For example — post-processing shaders for anti-aliasing, and a better approach to simulating lighting. Small touches, but they help make the atmosphere feel more cohesive. What the new story is about? Who is he? What happened to him? Why did the demon come for him? As before, I want you to feel the answers rather than just see them — the way the first story relied on sound, atmosphere, and small details instead of showing everything outright. A couple of questions for you:1. Tags: “Violence” and “Scenes of Cruelty” Honestly, I didn’t expect these to be the top user tags. Yes, there is violence in the game, but it’s minimal and shown sparingly, mostly through the sound. I’d much rather see tags like “Drama,” “Mystery,” or “Psychological Horror.” So what does “a lot of violence” mean to you? Is it about what’s shown on screen, or more about the emotional impact?2. Balancing difficulty I’ve noticed that only about half of players finish the demo. Sometimes it’s because they couldn’t find a certain clue — even though I didn’t hide anything intentionally. Where, in your opinion, is the line between engaging exploration and frustrating dead ends? Should I add global hints for players who get stuck, or leave things as they are to preserve the sense of discovery?I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for sticking with me. The next story is on its way. And remember: when eyes close — that’s when things get interesting.

The Demo for my psychological drama "When Eyes Close" is Out Now on Steam!

Hey everyone! The day is finally here. The demo for my second project is live on Steam, and I'm here to ask you to check it out. What's the game? "When Eyes Close" is a psychological drama anthology. Gameplay-wise, it's a narrative-driven, point-and-click detective game where you fill in the blanks of a character's forgotten story. The trailer on the store gives you a better idea. What's in the demo? The demo includes the entire first story from the game, following two brothers from childhood to... well, you'll see. It takes about 30-40 minutes to play and features all the core mechanics:Exploring rooms and memories.Finding clues.Piecing together who your character is.Listening to a demon who's having way too much fun.The conclusion to the first story. Why am I posting this?Like with my first project (please don't look it up, I've gotten better, I swear), I'm here for your honest feedback. Last time, people's comments (roasting me) at the demo stage were incredibly helpful in making the final game better. I'm hoping for the same this time around.Thank you so much!

Devlog #1: The Knife, Clues, and First Rooms

Hello everyone! I promised a devlog, so it's time to start one. It's been a productive week, but first things first: your support and adding the game to your wishlist is the best motivation for me.What am I working on?I'm still focused on the same thing: the rooms for the first story, titled Cain & Abel. The concept is starting to take shape, and the core game mechanics are already assembled. The rooms are slowly being filled with clues and animations. You can already wander through them in a random order and try to guess the correct room. The first story has 6 rooms (most likely to be 7). Five of them reveal "events," one explores the hero's inner world, and another is still a secret. Why is it taking so long? Taking a knife to animationsThe main reason is that i'm not an artist. I'm trying to maintain a high standard of quality, but I realize my current style is very labor-intensive for me. I don't want to sacrifice quality, but right now, I see no other way.So, I took out a knife. And with a single stroke, I cut out most of the planned animations. There will be less movement in the scenes now, but this will allow me to focus on the details and atmosphere.Clues and StoryDesigning the clues turned out to be a real headache. Where should I place them to be both interesting and understandable for the player? After some thought, I figured out how to solve this problem. The solution was obvious. I needed to write the character's entire story from beginning to end, take it out of my head. Then, I broke it down into several parts (the same number as the rooms) and mixed them up a bit to make it less straightforward. Now, the task is to think about how to deliver this story through clues in a way that isn't too cliché, but also not too difficult. What's next?Finish the art: I plan to finish drawing all the rooms and clues by the end of next week. The "Story Filling" mechanic: The next step is a system where the player will "place" the clues they find into the right spots to "fil...
