Explore perilous landscapes as expendable robots in Expendabots, where strategy and stealth are key. Outwit terrifying creatures and work with your squad to escape before the island succumbs to darkness.

About this game

You and your friends are clunky expendable robots sent to explore dangerous islands and terrifying dungeons, recover valuable tech, and extract before everything goes wrong. Outmatched and vulnerable, you’ll need to stay quiet, hide, and run when something starts hunting you.

No two missions take your squad to the same place twice. Explore the ever-changing islands of the Custody Zone and descend into terrifying abandoned dungeons. Adapt to new routes, layouts, threats, and challenges with every deployment. The deeper you go, the harder it gets.

Standard Expendabot units come equipped with portable 3D printing hardware for emergency field fabrication. Scavenge materials inside dangerous dungeons and print survival gear, questionable tools, and desperate distractions to help your squad make it out alive. If it works, it was standard procedure.

Every dungeon is built around horror, tension, and scary encounters. Threats react to sight, sound, or both. Sneak through the dark. Hide when they get too close. Keep your voice down, kill your lights, and run when the plan collapses. Online-synchronized jump scares can make the whole squad scream at once. Some things can be avoided. Others just need to be survived and preferably not led back to your squad.

You are replaceable. The mission is not. When a unit falls to the horrors of the Custody Zone, teammates can recover its mechanical heart and bring it back in a freshly 3D-printed body. Keep the squad moving, extract valuable tech, and turn today’s wreckage into tomorrow’s upgrades.

Playtest Update: Dungeon Quotas & Emotes!

Hello, expendable friends! 🤖Our latest patch, straight outta Gamescom, is here, with changes shaped by your public playtest feedback. We’ve simplified the expedition loop, made it easier to keep your 3D printer fed, and finally taught your robots some moves 🦾During Gamescom, Apollolol dropped by to say hi and pick up her 3D-printed gift! 🐤Every dungeon has its own quotaThe biggest change in this update! 🔝We’ve simplified the core gameplay loop: zipline down from the airship, choose a dungeon, and start collecting loot. Each dungeon now has its own quota, which you’ll need to meet by collecting loot inside before you can return to the airship. No more scrapping!Running low on filament for 3D printing on the go? You no longer need to (or can) scrap your precious loot! You can now find filament in dungeons alongside the loot. Keep your printer fed and your valuables intact. Simpler settingsThanks to your feedback, we’ve made the settings screen easier to use. Adjust your mouse sensitivity, brightness, and the proximity chat volume of your expendable friends.Because some screams need a volume limit. Emotes! Finally!Pinging locations with the middle mouse button is still there, but now you can let your hands do the talking too!Press 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 to point your fellow Expendabots in the right direction, show your appreciation with a cold, metallic thumbs up, or dance on the graves of your expendable friends. We’re ready to animate your ideas, so tell us which ridiculous emotes your expeditions absolutely need. We’re worried Expendabots might be literally unplayable without a 6-7 emote. Please prove us wrong. Please 🙏 Keep the feedback coming! The feedback button remains active throughout the public playtest. Along with your comments, it sends us a game log that helps us figure out which screws need tightening.Found a bug? Something confusing? Had a brilliant idea while hiding from something terrifying? Send it our way.We read everything. Thank you for helping us make E...

The Heartbeat update is out now 🫀

The Heartbeat Update is here!Over the past month, we have been actively playtesting Expendabots and collecting your feedback on our Discord and directly in the game. Your reports, ideas, and reactions helped shape this update. Thanks to your input, we are excited to bring it to you today.IMPROVED UI We have overhauled almost the entire user interface and added many new indicators. Important information should now be clearer, easier to read, and quicker to understand during a expedition. You can now see exactly how each item can be scrapped, whether it can be used, and which other interactions are available. The same information is also shown for modules.ENEMIES CAN HEAR YOUEnemies can now detect your voice when you speak in game. This is especially important around certain enemies that rely entirely on hearing. They may not be able to see you, but they are extremely sensitive to noise. Communication can help keep your team alive, but speaking at the wrong moment may reveal your position. Choose your words and your timing carefully.KEEP ROLLING AFTER DEATH 🫀Death no longer sends you directly into spectator mode. When your Expendabot dies, you will take control of its still beating heart and continue moving by rolling through the environment. Use your new form to search for the remaining Expendabots survivors.Thank you to everyone who played, shared feedback, and helped us improve Expendabots! Please keep the feedback coming. We are only just getting rolling!Btw, if you are heading to gamescom 2026, you can find us at the Slovak National Booth at Hall 4.1, A-031g. Stop by and say hi, we would love to meet you in person! 🙋‍♂️
