About this game
Your very own barn
You’ve finally saved up the money to get a plot of land with a run-down shack of a stable – It’s not much but it’s yours. Time for you and your trusted mare to start training, so you can participate in tournaments in the nearby town and grow your ramshackle yard into the stud farm of your dreams!
Take Care of your Horse(s)
Groom and comb your horses in crisp, satisfying care interactions that are grounded in realism without being tedious. Use your brush and hoofpick to avoid saddle sores and abscesses, and treat scrapes and injuries appropriately when they happen.
Train, Compete, Explore
Complete training exercises and build up your horse’s strength and confidence to qualify for competitions and earn prize money. Take your horses out on trail rides for a change of pace and scenery – you get to enjoy beautiful vistas and you never know what you might find along the way!
Breed & Evolve
Breed adorable foals to improve your stock over time. Carefully plan your stallion and mare pairings to bring out the best in your offspring, whether you’re going for looks or stats.
Upgrade & Manage
Save up for upgrading your buildings to make space for more horses and better meeting their needs. Hire staff to stay on top of care and training for a growing herd.
Learn about the game and real horses
Horses of Hoofprint Bay is made by three horse girls who care a lot about these animals. While not every aspect of the game is completely realistic, we strive to be accurate and educational in every way that doesn’t compromise gameplay fun. An in-game library contains a lot of relevant equestrian knowledge about in-game and real life horses!
Customize and Modify
Edit the appearance of your character and tack items with built-in color picking tools, or even modify the game files to your liking to create custom color palettes. Whether you prefer sticking to a curated selection of available customization items and color combos, or want to start digging into easily accessible textures and text files to alter the appearance of horses and characters is entirely up to you.

Out Now: Release Date Reveal Trailer
We’re thrilled to finally share the release date for Horses of Hoofprint Bay! See for yourself in our brand new Release Date Reveal Trailer right here: And so we don’t keep the information for anyone unable to watch a video right now: the game is scheduled to release on November 4th 2026! We still have plenty to do until then – from testing, balancing and bugfixing to adding and refining some additional content – but we are confident that we’ll have a good version of this game ready for you all by November 4th! The game will go straight into a full release, no Early Access, no feature addition roadmaps. We’ll of course keep a close eye on people’s experiences at launch to make sure everything is working as intended and fix bugs as necessary, but for the most part, we want to release a finished game and not promise any major updates beyond that. If you’re interested in what’s been changing since the Demo version, take a look at our latest Dev Update right here: With the recent addition of Cross Country Competitions, Desensitization Training, Horse Personality Traits and more, there are quite a few cool new things to look forward to at release! And one more thing: we’ll be at Gamescom in Cologne next week! If you are nearby, make sure to come say Hello at the Games Bavaria booth E-051g in Hall 10.2, to try the latest version of Horses of Hoofprint Bay with our super cool home-made Saddle ControllerRead full article on Community Announcements (Alice)Patch NotesOfficial
Desensitization, Horse Personalities and Cross Country Competitions – Dev Update
A ton of things have been happening behind the scenes of Horses of Hoofprint Bay, it's time for a round-up of some exciting new additions to the game that we haven't talked about yet. We did not want to confirm the inclusion of these features until we were sure we had the time and capacity to tackle them, but everything mentioned here has now been implemented and is currently being tested and balanced with the help of a small handful of beta testers. More testers will be added in the coming weeks, so if you're signed up, definitely keep an eye on your Steam emails. PrestigeWe've added "Prestige" to the game as a measure of your progress: Prestige can be gained through upgrading your buildings, winning competitions, caring for boarders and having high quality horses. It is also possible to lose Prestige through failing competitions, competing on dirty horses or without appropriate clothing and having horses fall seriously ill. Your current Prestige value doesn't just give you a sense of how far along you are in the overall game progression, it also determines the quality of horses that the breeder offers to you, the variety of tack items that can be purchased in the shop, and which trail rides are available to unlock. Going on WalksTo give you something to do with nursing mares, and to get an excuse for our artist to draw foal animations, we've added "Going on a Walk" as an option in the arena and the forest! You can take any horse out for a walk, but we particularly recommend doing it with nursing mares because their foals will get to come along, and we think that's adorable. Confidence & Desensitization We weren't quite satisfied with how quickly you could max out a horse's confidence in our Demo version, so we've overhauled this stat in a handful of ways: Unprompted gait changes now show a little warning icon before they happen, giving you a chance to correct your horse before it actually slows down or speeds up. To properly train your horse's confidence, we've ad...Read full article on Community Announcements (Alice)AnnouncementsOfficial

Beach Rides, Leopard Patterns and Staff Overhaul - Dev Update
Last week we announced that our Beta Playtests are slowly kicking off now and we already got so many signups that we can only add a tiny portion of applicants! So now we want to show some of the exciting feature and content additions we've been working on to all of you here, at least! Note that these additions won't make it to the Demo, but they'll be available for everyone in the full game at release later this year. Without further ado, here's some cool stuff we've been making: Leopard PatternsA lot of you asked, we deliver: Horses in our game can now have spotted leopard patterns like you know them from the Appaloosa or Knabstrupper breeds! Three separate layers allow for everything from snowcap blankets, spotted blankets, full body leopard spots of various sizes, and snowflake leopard dots! Here's a preview of how that will look in the horse creator as well as in the riding sequences! Note: the odd texture at the very end of the video is a bit of behind the scenes insight of how we do these patterns and how we ensure that patterns get applied to all animation without having to manually draw them for each frame. See this video if you're curious about how that works! Beach Trail RidesWho doesn't fantasize about a gallop along the seaside? We sure do! Here's a first look at how beach trail rides will look in Horses of Hoofprint Bay: Staff OverhaulIn the time-limited Demo, the management and hiring aspects of the game have not gotten the most attention yet. But as you'll grow your stable and get more and more horses, hiring staff to help with care and training becomes essential! We've given the hiring and staff management screens a makeover and added some new options for how you can assign horses to staff for care, training and lessons. Balancing and Caprilli TestsThe biggest change we've made in terms of gameplay recently is a complete rebalancing of our starter horses! We might still tweak this further, but they now start with much lower stats so that breeding for...Read full article on Community Announcements (Alice)AnnouncementsOfficial
Beta Playtest Registration now open!
You can now sign up as a Beta Playtester on our Steam Page right here! Note that even if you’ve registered for our Alpha Playtest in December-January, you will need to apply again, since we’re starting with a fresh pool of applicants and are giving everyone a new chance to get selected.FAQWhat does the Beta Playtest entail? The Beta Playtest version represents the “full” version of the game as it currently exists, though of course it is not finished yet. Compared to the Demo, the Beta Playtest already has more upgraded buildings, new backgrounds, a new trail ride environment (WIP!), and leopard horse patterns. The Beta Playtest has no day limit. Who gets to be a Beta Playtester? We know lots of you are very excited and want to be part of the game. We need to keep the test manageable though, so we will only add a handful of people at a time. If you don’t get access right away, please stay patient, and please be aware that not everyone who wants to be a tester will get access.Steam chooses testers for us at random out of all the registered people. We might do giveaways for Playtest Access keys on our social media, follow us on Bluesky or Instagram if you want to keep an eye out for that. Can I stream/post about the Playtest if I get chosen? Please don't. We'll have a lot of unfinished material in the playtest and we'd like to show our game from its best side in public. Having control over what we show where and being able to provide exclusive materials to selected press outlets is an important tool for the game's marketing, and we kindly ask you to refrain from harming that potential by leaking playtest footage.Where can I report bugs or talk to fellow Playtesters? We have a closed section on our Discord server for this. Once you get access to the playtest build, there will be a new invite link in the game’s main menu that gives you the relevant role. If you cannot join via your browser for some reason, you can also copy the invite link from there, go to “Find or sta...Read full article on Community Announcements (Alice)
