  Developer Diary #015: What Changed After the Playtest

  Hello, players!Toto is back — and wishes you a grrr-eat day! He’ll be setting off on another adventure soon — the next playtest is just around the corner!After our recent Toto’s Journey playtest, we carefully went through your feedback and continued improving some of the game’s core mechanics.Here’s what you can expect in the next version.Movement 🐛One of our main focuses has been making Toto feel better to control.We’ve improved the movement system, making running and jumping feel freer and more responsive.Just remember to watch where you’re going! 👀 A careless jump can still send Toto over the edge — which means it’s time to try again.Levitation and Small Objects 🦋We’ve also improved how Toto interacts with smaller objects that he can levitate.The whole process is now clearer and smoother: picking up, moving, and throwing objects requires fewer unnecessary actions and feels more intuitive.Heavy Obstacles 🪨Some objects are simply too heavy for Toto to pick up or drag around, but that doesn’t mean he can’t do anything about them.Certain obstacles can now be moved with a properly timed push, giving Toto another way to interact with the environment — and saving his teeth some work.What’s Next? 🐕There’s also one very obvious surprise we’ve added to the game.We won’t spoil it just yet — we’ll talk about it in one of our upcoming Developer Diaries. Thank you to everyone who participated in the playtest.   Dev Diary #013: The Bronze Seed

  Hello, players!We’re continuing our series about Magical Things — mysterious artifacts that Toto will encounter during his journey through the Magic Land.Today, we’re taking a closer look at a tiny object with the power to transform an entire mountain.The Bronze SeedNo one knows where it came from. For a long time, it was considered almost harmless: the Bronze Seed helped flowers bloom and made crops grow bigger.But everything changed when it fell into the hands of a herbalist who lived high in the mountains.In just one month, the Seed transformed the entire mountain into a Bronze Forest. Living plants became intertwined with metal, their roots drawing strength from the surrounding earth, and metal vines continued to grow, destroying everything in their path.The forest could only be stopped with the help of the Bronze Bud, which grew from the Seed. As soon as the herbalist plucked it, the entire forest rusted and withered away.Since then, the Witches and Sorceresses of the Magic Land have kept a watchful eye on the Bronze Seed — either to make sure it never falls into the wrong hands… or because they secretly wanted it for themselves.For Toto, the Bronze Seed can be incredibly useful.As long as it stays away from the soil, Toto gains the ability to control plant roots and shoots.
