Navigate the harsh landscape of Ecliptica, where your choices shape corporations and survival. In this 2026 indie RPG, strategy meets adventure as you fight for resources and fend off nature’s wrath.

About this game

Ecliptica is a first-person science fiction sandbox set in an ancient, self-organizing world. You and your colony are alien organisms. After a long flight, the colonists have lost the memory of their origin, retaining only their intelligence and thirst for profit. Now you must take root on a planet that existed long before your arrival and is ready to protect its resources from uninvited guests.

COMMUNITY ECONOMY AND DELEGATION

At the core of your colony lies a fair economic model where every survivor is an autonomous market participant.

  • Personal Gain: Residents seek their own ways to survive, assess risks, and spend their earnings on development. They do not follow scripts—they are driven by harsh necessity.

  • Contract System: Any task—from perimeter security to resource extraction—is formalized as a contract. You can perform them personally or delegate to your subordinates, managing processes like in a global strategy.

  • Autonomous Management: Assign an NPC manager to control facilities. They will take over micromanagement: hiring staff, adjusting prices, and distributing tasks, while you focus on expanding deeper into the planet.

ADAPTIVE QUEST SYSTEM

In Ecliptica, the story is not forced upon the player but grows organically from the state of the world:

  • Procedural Contracts: Generated instantly as a reaction to events in the simulation. If there is a shortage or a threat at a station, the system creates a contract to solve the problem.

  • Contextual Storytelling: Deep stories and side quests are activated only when a suitable situation arises in the world. The story becomes a natural continuation of your actions and random events in the world.

EXPLORATION AND LANDSCAPES

The planet holds traces of ancient eras, hidden in the massive and contrasting scenery of your new home:

  • Dense Jungles: Zones oversaturated with alien life, where every step could be your last and visibility is limited by thick vegetation.

  • Endless Plains: Vast open spaces ideal for large-scale construction and trade, but leaving your colony defenseless before the eyes of predators.

  • Rocky Highlands and Craters: Difficult vertical landscapes hiding rare resources and abandoned complexes of those who were here before you.

  • Expeditions: Assemble squads for sorties deep into the territories. This is the only way to find technologies to strengthen the colony and learn the truth about the world you have arrived in.

BIOLOGICAL EXPANSION AND CONFLICTS

You are aliens, and the local fauna perceives you as an alien threat:

  • Living Ecosystem: Creatures hunt, breed, and wage their own wars. You can pit species against each other or become an accidental victim in their struggle for living space.

  • Territory Capture: Enemies actively build nests and expand their range. Their expansion is not background, but a real process that can destroy your economy and settlements.

TECHNOLOGICAL FOUNDATION

Thanks to our own game engine based on Qt Quick 3D, Ecliptica supports a fair simulation of thousands of objects and NPCs without performance loss. This allowed us to combine complex physics, deep economics, and large-scale biological expansion into a single seamless experience where you are just one of the forces trying to survive on an ancient planet.

    Ecliptica DevLog 14

Welcome everyone to the 14th development log for Ecliptica! Let’s break down what’s new.Atmosphere: Visual Changes and Dynamic CloudsWe have brand-new lighting, and you are immediately greeted by new dynamic clouds. They depend on your current altitude as well as the weather: it can be overcast, a thunderstorm, or clear skies.Gameplay: Squad SystemSo, what about gameplay?Yes, we have added a squad system to the game. It allows you to command groups of colonists, giving them individual orders as well as general directions to complete tasks. For example, here we see that some colonists were initially gathering resources while another group guarded them, and a third separate group attacked them to plunder. How does it work?Dialogue Integration: The system is fully integrated into our dialogues. You can approach any settlement resident and invite them to your squad. Naturally, it’s not for free — for them, it’s a way to earn money.Squad Structure: Within a squad, you can split people into separate sub-units led by officers or simply gather helpers and give them commands. The orders are high-level, and they figure out how to carry them out on their own.Managing Fighter Issues: The first thing we see is a list of problems currently facing a squad member. You can take them on yourself and resolve them separately, or order the unit to deal with them independently.Available CommandsCurrently, 7 main commands are available:Combat Orders:Attack with commanderProtect commanderAvoid enemiesMovement: 4. Follow commanderEconomic Orders (for expeditions): 5. Resource Gathering 6. Resource Collection / Mining 7. ResupplySpecial feature of the "Resupply" command: Each command is unique and customizable. While the first six are simple and straightforward, resupply is the most interesting. Essentially, you can task a unit with solving the problems of your entire squad, including your personal tasks.By the way, I forgot to mention: NPC behavior is fully autonomous — they make decisions b...

    Ecliptica Devlog 13

Hello everyone!Work on Ecliptica continues! In this update, we will tell you about two new mechanics in the game, namely: dynamic quests and dialogues.Living World: Procedural Quest SystemOne of the main new features is the procedurally generated quest system. Now the game analyzes your current state, the position of your empire, and the needs of characters, creating relevant tasks in real-time.How does it work? Quests are now divided into several types:Contextual Tasks: help you navigate the current situation and suggest which problems of a character or settlement to focus on right now.Storylines: tasks related to the main story and side branches of the Ecliptica world. The game world has become more symmetrical: similar tasks arise not only for the player but also for other characters. You can talk to a resident of your colony at any time and find out what difficulties they have encountered. For example, a character might report a food shortage. If you decide to help, the game will provide navigation data to complete the task. In this case, the colonist's survival depended on the supply of carbon bars (Carbon Bars). Successful completion will not only bring you a reward but will also directly affect the survival of your base's population. The presented quest is rather demonstrative, as procedural quests can be longer and solve more complex problems.Gamepad Support: Motion SensorsWe strive to make controlling Ecliptica as comfortable as possible for all platforms. In this update, we have added support for control using built-in gamepad sensors (gyroscope). However, it is worth noting that this only works on gamepads that have a gyroscope; gamepads without a gyroscope control the character using classic sticks.A new section has appeared in the settings menu, allowing you to activate the controller's motion sensors. This gives more intuitive and precise control, especially in moments requiring quick reactions. These are not all the changes we have made. We also have man...
