About this game
Parasensor is a story-rich, non-linear horror game with mechanics involving investigation, conversation, and environmental puzzle solving.
This game is currently in a pre-alpha state.
In the year 2006, Marisol Mendez takes on a new life as a technician for Metcom - a monopolistic telecom company currently “undergoing a restructure”.
In a desperate bid to get away from her old home, she accepts a high-risk role in a strange, cordoned city.
Metcom requires Marisol to live and work within an exclusion zone where an anomalous event is taking place. In the heart of this “cocooned city”, its citizens are undergoing a frightening metamorphosis.
A grotesque transformation is taking hold of this place - innocent people are mutating into insect-like creatures, and the corruption is intensifying.
How long before it reaches Marisol too?
A former Metcom employee with an uncanny connection to Marisol’s past has disappeared without a trace. A rabbit hole of conspiracy, strange technology, and supernatural science awaits, along with secrets from Marisol’s own shameful past.
In order to get what she wants, Marisol must manipulate, bargain, and connect with the city’s bizarre inhabitants. What kind of person will Marisol choose to be?
Marisol’s trauma is taking its toll - she will develop new ‘Neuroses’ based on her actions and choices in the game. Neuroses affect Marisol’s personality, abilities, dialogue, and how others perceive her.
A contemporary take on the classic “pre-rendered background” format with stylised, hand-painted background illustrations.

An update from Ghoulish!
Greetings, fellow ghouls!Mickey here, Parasensor's creative director and lead developer 😈We are somehow a quarter way through 2026 already so I figured its time I updated you all on Ghoulish's escapades.👺What have we been doing? We finally started full production in January this year, thanks to a big grant from Screen Australia !We're about halfway through Parasensor's total development, having wrapped up pre-production in June-ish last year. Ghoulish had to take a break due to a funding gap, while we all worked other jobs. We all work on Parasensor part-time, so it can be slow going at times. We've been busy at events like Supanova, PlayNow, Freeplay Angles, ACMI, To The Moon Expo (thanks to Noble Steed), and SXSW Sydney where we showed a public demo for the first time!Fun fact: Parasensor is (so far) entirely funded by the Australian tax-payer! 🤑🤑 We received grant funding from VicScreen for pre-production and Screen Australia for production - its not enough to complete the game yet but we're so close!🦋Parasensor developmentOur team has been cooking up some more game! There's so much being fleshed out at the moment and we can't wait to share it with you soon.We don't want to spoil anything until we are ready to show off some real gameplay and story. For now, I can say that:We've made a lot of progress on programming and technical stuff, the game is mostly fully functional!Loads of visual development and concept art is being made - we'll have to put together an art book after we release to show all this beautiful work. The high level narrative is complete and we're now getting into the specific characters, puzzles, and little stories that you'll encounter. We're aiming for a feature-complete build of the game in June (that's playable from start-to-finish with placeholder graphics).Did you see our revamped trailer that we released back in October? That song from our trailer, Another Me by our musicians Danna and Miles, is streamable now onSpotify and Apple Music !If you'd...Read full article on Community Announcements (Groggy Ghoul)
