Embark on a story-driven cave exploration journey as your routine mission descends into complexity in Cavernreach, an adventure game from Deep Rock Games.

About this game

Note: Portraits are not enabled in the full game release as of right now. After much consideration, I came to the conclusion that they just didn't fit right in the UI or match the style of the game well enough. In a future update, I may enable them again when I feel they match the game better.

Cavernreach is a first-person, story-driven cave exploration adventure.

Play as Grant, a contracted caver sent to survey a newly discovered cave system and locate two missing explorers. What begins as a routine expedition quickly spirals into a mystery far greater than anyone anticipated.

Explore vast underground chambers, navigate flooded passages, and uncover secrets hidden deep beneath the Earth. As you descend deeper into the darkness, you'll discover that some places were never meant to be found.

Venture through a vast underground world filled with towering caverns, flooded tunnels, hidden passages, and breathtaking subterranean landscapes.

Use climbing ropes to descend into the depths, navigate the cave system, and uncover new routes as your expedition pushes further into the unknown. From glowing crystal chambers to immense underground abysses, every new discovery reveals just how much of the cave system remains unexplored.

Not everything hidden within the cave system can be explained.

As Grant pushes deeper underground, he encounters strange symbols, impossible discoveries, and evidence that someone, or something, has been here long before his arrival. The trail left behind by the missing cavers leads toward mysteries that challenge everything he thought he knew.

The deeper you descend, the more apparent it becomes that the greatest danger may not be getting lost in the darkness, but uncovering what has been hidden there all along.

The cave was never the destination.

Buried beneath miles of rock and hidden from the world lies an impossible discovery, whose existence defies explanation. Strange technology, forgotten structures, and clues left behind by those who came before suggest that something far greater has been hidden beneath the Earth for a very long time.

As Grant pushes forward, the line between exploration and obsession begins to blur. The truth is waiting below, but some discoveries come with consequences.

The deeper Grant ventures, the clearer one thing becomes:

It was never built to hide a secret.

It was built to contain one.

As the truth begins to emerge, Grant finds himself standing at the center of a mystery with consequences that reach far beyond the cave itself. What started as a survey and the search for two missing cavers becomes a desperate attempt to understand a hidden truth before it's too late.

Or is it already too late?

A Note

Cavernreach is a paced, exploration-driven experience with minimal guidance. There are no objective markers or maps. Progress comes from observation, memory, and curiosity.

    Cavernreach has a release date!

Cavernreach has finally reached a point where I can safely set the release date and make it public. After a long journey developing this game, and putting many MANY hours into it, I'm happy to say that it will be released on August 3rd, 2026!I know I don't have a huge following, but thanks for everyone who commented, played the demo, gave suggestions, etc etc... -Also, I want to take a second to say that I also have another game already in the works, built from the ground up just like Cavernreach was. I am in the asset modeling stage of the next game, so I'm not even going to entertain what it is, or what it's going to be about :)But thanks again to everyone who wishlisted and played the demo. It means the world to me as a solo developer who takes it seriously.

QOL Features Added and Being Tested For Release

Hello everyone. New features have been added based on some feedback (you know who you are) and my own thoughts on it as well. Probably the biggest addition is the "Hint System" that was put in place to help guide players when they need help or get lost on what to do next. I realized it can get confusing listening to the dialouge, exploring the cave, real life things that take your attention away, or just quitting the game and coming back to it the next day. It's easy to forget what to do, or where to go. Because of that issue, players can press TAB on the keyboard and a text popup will appear and slowly fade out to help guide you when you need help. You will still have to rely on some memory of how the cave system is laid out, as intended, but hopefully this will cut down on becoming totally lost in what to do next in the story. -Also, it's been noted that some of the character speeds needed adjustments. This has been on my to-do list for quite some time, but was less pressing than other bugs that came up. But I have also adjusted the speed of crawling and swimming, to be a little faster so you aren't spending so much time getting around while in those positions. Swimming was especially slow, but hopefully players can now see a difference.-The audio system was redone recently, in the way the game handled the audio. This in turn, broke the slider on in the menu to adjust the volume. I have reworked the audio slider and it will now adjust and save your volume preference. I am working on a few other audio adjustments that will hopefully make it into the initial full release. Those are the biggest improvements that have happened in the last few days. These improvements are not released yet as they are still being tested. Thanks!::TL;DR::New hint system, press TAB on keyboard to get a hint of what to do next in the game and guidanceFixes on audio volume sliders and audio system reworkMovement speed adjustments on crawling and swimming

Voice Acting Dialogue Added in Demo v1.5 Update

I'm excited to share that voice acting for the dialogue is added back to the game! While it was in the game before, it was removed as it was incomplete and the voice acting that was there, didn't allow for a long enough demo. At that time, there were other, more pressing matters, to attend to such as major game breaking bugs and gameplay content. So the voice acting was put on the backburner. BUT, the gameplay all the way to the end is now complete! So the voice acting is now being implemented back into the game, with new voice clips to add immersion back into the narrative gameplay experience.I'm also happy to say that the voice acting in the game is NOT AI generated. I care about the people who choose to play my game, and support me, and want to give a well rounded, human made experience. All that being said, I hope everyone enjoys having the voice acting back in the game! Keep an eye out for future updates coming, and drop a wishlist the game if you enjoy it!If anyone runs into any bugs playing the demo, it's greatly appreciated if people make a comment about it in the discussions so I can fix those, especially before the full game release. Being one person, it's hard to find each and every bug in the game unless they are glaring. Thanks all!
