In FLASK, strategize your way through the new frontier by crafting powerful homunculi and trading with mutated merchants. Prepare to mix alchemy and combat in this intense roguelike experience.

About this game

The Goblin Gate has opened once more, and great profit awaits anyone strong enough to slay the monsters beyond it and drain their valuable green blood. So fortify your tower, brew your homunculi, and prepare for a bloody adventure!

  • Program your team of Homunculi by placing Flasks on their timelines. Combat then resolves turn by turn, one Flask at a time in the order you placed them - an intricate script you write, then sit back and watch run.

  • Journey through roguelike maps, where you build a role for each Homunculus with their own set of unique flasks - will your Warrior support, be a Berserker, a Tank or something entirely different? Your choice determines their fate.

  • 400+ Flasks, 100+ Items, 50+ Snacks, 25 Organ Mutations and 20 Elements in the demo alone - enough variety that no two runs have the same solution.

  • You begin each run by choosing a single Homunculus from a roster of 7, and you're offered more until your team of 3 is complete. You can't pre-plan a lineup or force a "meta build" - every run hands you a new team and demands a new plan.

  • The PvP is asynchronous, so you play at your own pace. Along the way you'll meet the ghosts of other players, who fight to stop your run and halt your climb from Bronze Acolyte to Grand Alchemist.

  • Designed by former professional Hearthstone, Teamfight Tactics and Duelyst players, drawing heavily on the competitive systems of those games.

  • A dark fantasy world of gruesome creatures and mutated misfits, fully hand-drawn and brought to life by the artist John Kenn Mortensen, with fully voice-acted Merchants that will share the secrets of the world - for a price.

  • Not every fortune is won in combat. Take on challenges, collect achievements, build an empire of gold and pour it into your tower, until no one on either side of the gate is richer.

  • Every run through the Goblin Gate reveals more, until you face the final boss and learn what truly happened here - and what you can do, if anything, to fix it.

0.38.6 - Hidden Events, Visuals, QoL & Balance

Dear Alchemists,This patch is mostly a follow-up to the recent major patch. We’ve been gathering feedback and shoring up some holes, especially around hidden events. Almost every hidden event has been reworked, buffed, or otherwise adjusted to make them more competitive. More on that below. In addition, there are many new visual updates, QoL improvements, and some much-needed quick balance changes, with a bigger balance patch coming next week.EventsThe main goal of hidden events is to be on par with, or slightly higher value than, the generic gainer events. The main difference is their variance and randomness. They also give access to functionality not easily available through regular events. They should always feel competitive, but carry a slight risk. Each biome has its own unique events, balanced for that specific biome. The current iteration is mainly testing the mechanics and balance. The visuals are getting there but aren’t finished for all of them yet, though they should all work. Expect more visual polish in the future. With the new additions, there are now 10 unique hidden events to explore.Visuals & QoLA first pass at visually indicating “preview” flasks has been implemented in some events. There’s now a new, clearer visual for when something is in a preview state, meaning you don’t own it until you complete the event.Examine mode now works in combat. You can right-click flask icons to bring them up in full view.Hovers now show the full flask, including the elements and infusers it contains. You now click each object individually in the Forward Camp and Tabernacle events.BalanceThis is a first pass at fixing some outliers. New content has also been added around Organ Mutations: each character now has 3 unique, character-specific organs, along with a more curated list per character. Some organs have been removed entirely for now.Another big change is the Artificer Drone rework. Drones no longer drain your HP when you create them. Instead, they simply have a va...

PATCH 0.38.4 - Pacing, Infusers, Combat QoL, Ranger & Localization

Dear Alchemists,The demo has been running for a while, and we've been gathering feedback and beta-testing a whole host of new features that we're excited to share today. Many core systems have changed, and these patch notes serve as an overview along with our developer thoughts. You'll have to play to get the full details!Pacing, Flasks & EconomyOne of the biggest pieces of feedback we got was that runs felt a bit long, especially around the final biome. A regular run is now 5 biomes, and you need to beat 3 of 5 player encounters for it to count as a win. This is also partly a balance change: you're now expected to improve your build more between biomes, and matchmaking will now try to match you with players who have the same number of wins in their run, making it more competitive but also fairer. As a result, flasks now max out at rank 4 with a smoother curve throughout the run, and a few flasks now have special effects restricted to max rank, offering more exciting options towards the end of a run.The economy has also received a full overhaul. Flasks now have a flat base cost of 3, regardless of level, and sell for 2. Element tokens always cost 5, and refreshes always cost 1. What changes is how much you earn over a run, with the final two biomes allowing for much more customization and refreshing.+Infusers, -ItemsInfusers are a new core pillar, alongside flasks and snacks. They equip directly onto a flask and change how it works at a fundamental level. An infuser might add damage to a shield flask, boost all its numbers, make it activate again, or add piercing, lifesteal, or something else entirely. Each flask can hold 1 infuser, and you can store 1 more on the figurine in your storage for later. Infusers replace items, which have been removed from the game. We liked the variety items brought, but many forced you to build around them instead of around your flasks, and flasks should always be the anchor of your build. The most interesting items live on as Organ mu...

Patch 0.35 - Element reworks, Combat Visuals & Ranger nerfs.

Dear Alchemists,The first few weeks of the demo have passed, and we are finally addressing some of the most pressing balance issues, QoL improvements, and requests players have had while playing the demo. This is a major update, with changes to 193 Flasks, almost all elements, many statuses and core run economy changes. Here's a rundown:Elements ReworkThe goal of the element system should be to enhance the different strategies players come up with, but never replace them. The Flasks should be the main build-around, so we are pushing some nerfs across the board to a bunch of Elements, as well as full, or partial remakes, of a few. We will continue to monitor the feedback and data, to see if our goals have been achieved. Chaos:The monster Flasks had too much variance and it was hard to provide the necessary visibility needed for an Element activation. Chaos has been fully reworked to fill a different niche, while still maintaining the chaotic effect and highroll feeling.Blood:We were mostly satisfied with blood, however the nature of its ability made it activate constantly in combat, and while it did perform decently, it was very hard to see what was going on, and why it was good. We have slightly changed to effect to create a "pool" of blood-healing, which then gets distributed to allies at the end of Round. This makes it much more visible when it activates, and prioritizes the lowest health allies to avoid overhealing. Death:Death was the least utilized and one of the weakest elements. The issue was that it's too situational and oftentimes you will lose the combat before it actually goes live. The effect has been fully reworked, into a more aggressive effect which rewards early damage and executing enemies.Water:Water was too swingy and would create setups that are hard to balance, and hard to understand for most players. In addition, we are making major changes to the Tier3 effects of certain elements, and Water's old effect didn't fit with those. It now takes a mo...
