Explore Subspace Reticulum's vast cosmic arenas, where strategic resource management meets intense combat. Pilot your craft, make critical decisions, and outmaneuver foes in a blend of action and simulation that challenges both skill and strategy.

About this game

Fast ships. Deep tactics. Relentless battles.

Subspace Reticulum is a top-down multiplayer space combat game inspired by the speed, freedom and organized chaos of Subspace Continuum.

Outfly your opponents in open-space dogfights, fight through fortified corridors and turn a desperate attack into a last-second flag capture. Play online, run your own zone or battle offline against bots that navigate, coordinate and respond to the fight around them.

Fly the Fleet

Take command the eight classic ships, reimagined in 3D: the Warbird, Javelin, Spider, Leviathan, Terrier, Weasel, Lancaster and Shark.

Master an extensive arsenal of bullets, bombs, mines and Thors, then change the fight with bursts, repels, rockets, bricks, decoys, portals and more.

Fight for the Flags

Turf Wars
Capture fixed flag poles, control the map and defend your territory.

Warzone
Collect loose flags, carry them into your base and secure the complete set to win. Bases are authored as tactical spaces, allowing bots to understand entrances, corridors, defensive positions and the ground that must be held.

Maps can range from focused combat arenas to sprawling team fortresses built for large, coordinated battles.

Bots

The bots do more than fly directly at the nearest target. They plan routes, lead their shots, capture and bank flags, defend bases, retreat from losing fights and call for backup.

These heuristic pilots also serve as mentors for the game’s next generation of neural-network bots, which are being developed through imitation and evolutionary training. Every simulated battle contributes to the pursuit of more capable, convincing AI players.

Play Your Way

  • Join public zones directly from the in-game directory.

  • Play across multiple arenas within a single zone.

  • Challenge other pilots with direct duel invitations.

  • Host your own zone from a personal computer or dedicated server.

  • Manage your community with staff roles, admin commands and a complete visual settings editor.

  • Play offline in solo battles.

A New Subspace Universe

Subspace Reticulum is not intended to be a one-to-one recreation of Continuum. It takes the responsive flight, tactical team combat and community-run worlds that made the original special—and uses them as the foundation for something new.

The current game is the beginning of that universe. Its ships are armed, its zones are online and its bots are learning.

Engage your warp drive. There is a fight waiting for you.

    The Foundation

The Foundation UpdateThis one started small.Subspace Reticulum began as a personal project in MonoGame. An excuse to poke at neural networks and see whether I could make an NPC that felt like it was actually playing rather than following a script. It was never meant to be a game. Over a lot of iterations it turned into one, and then into something bigger than that: an attempt to build an experience worthy of standing alongside what Subspace Continuum gave so many people.Today's update is the foundation that everything after it gets built on.The bots are the whole storyNeural networks are still the thing I care most about here, and I intend to keep chasing the best AI players I can make. But a network is only as good as what you teach it, and the bots needed a great deal of training data. Training them on captures of me worked decently. But I needed more. I had to build something worth learning from. That is where the current heuristic bots come in. They are the mentor. They plan routes through the map instead of flying at you in a straight line. They lead their shots. They take and bank flags, hold a base, break off when they are losing a fight, and call for backup when they need it. They read the fight and change how they fly because of it.And they are now teaching the next generation of bots through a combination of imitation and evolution. Every match the heuristic bots play is groundwork for what replaces them. What's in the updateFly the fleet. All eight hulls: Warbird, Javelin, Spider, Leviathan, Terrier, Weasel, Lancaster and Shark. Each with their own weight, weapons and role. Bullets, bombs, mines and Thors; bursts, repels, rockets, bricks, decoys, portals and the rest of the prize kit. Everything you'd expect in your arsenal is at your disposal. Two flag modes. Turf: capture the fixed poles and hold the territory.Warzone: pick up loose flags, carry them home, secure the full set to win. Bases are authored directly on the map rather than guessed at, so the bots...
