In Crit Happens!, equip your dice with special abilities to outsmart enemies. Craft a powerful deck of tools and collect relics to tilt the odds in your favor, all while navigating a game of chance.
About this game
Crit Happens! is a dice-building, turn-based roguelike where you roll your dice to attack! The higher your roll, the more damage you'll deal with your attacks. You can roll your dice at least 3 times, and hold the dice you're happy with. It's up to you to balance risk vs reward.
Acquire powerful tools and relics as you travel through these dangerous lands, changing the way you think about each turn. Tools will particularly change the way you tackle each turn; as they change the behavior of your attacks. Build up a deck of tools, and choose one to play amongst the hand you draw at the start of combat. Use a tool and it'll be sent to the discard pile until it's recycled, so make sure you pick the right moments to make the most of the tools at hand!
Finding new dice faces on your journey and crafting them onto your dice will allow you to apply special effects to your attacks! Upgrading your dice will be essential to conquering the dungeons! With the right dice you'll be able to inflict status effects on enemies, like burn, bleed, paralysis or confusion. Some dice can even apply buffs to yourself, like shield or reflect.
Features:
Build your dice as you play, enhancing your strength as you continue your journey.
There are a variety of dice faces you'll find on your adventure, each with its own unique effect that can be applied to your attacks. You'll get to fully customize each of your dice each time you find a new face.
Change the way you play by discovering new tools and relics.
Tools can be found throughout your journey to add to your deck; each affecting the way your attacks behave. Draw 5 tools at the start of combat, and draw a new one each time one is used. Relics offer permanent effects, empowering certain dice faces, or simply increasing your health.
Journey across the dangerous, ever-shifting lands.
The world is ever-changing, with no two runs being the same. Travel through harsh deserts and blistering snowstorms, as you choose your path via your trusty map. Will you prioritize safe havens, or brave the elite enemies in hope of rewards?

Crit Happens! Demo Update Notes (August 5)
Quite a big update this time around, with a handful of "under the hood" changes, and some other quite noticable changes...NewForest environment added as a potential "floor 1" environment.Bosses are now environment exclusive, with the Orc Tank being the Forest boss, and The Wheel of Doom being the Sewers boss.Events are now environment exclusive, so expect to see different events in the Forest than you would in the Sewers. The Twisting Thorns event now plays an animation showing which tool is lost when you choose to cut through the thorns."Early" basic fights have been added, where the enemy pool selected from is weaker. The map screen now displays the name of the current environment and floor number instead of just "Floor 1".The Orc Tank has been given unique background art, as well as more decorations in the boss arena. (The same will be done for The Wheel of Doom at a later date).A new tool has been added for the Soldier (although it will soon be removed and given to a brand new class that's in the works).A number of enemy behaviors have been changed; some enemies have had their basic attacks removed, and ranged enemies will now continue to progress towards the player as long as there is nothing blocking their path (in which case, if they're close enough, they will attack as usual). The feedback button has been removed from all menus, all future feedback can be shared in the feedback channel on the community Discord server.FixesFixed a bug where the modal for the first selected item of the shop could appear cut off at the top of the screen.Fixed a bug where the red slime could soft-lock the game when an enemy is blocking it from moving forward.Read full article on Community Announcements (Connor Warrington)Patch NotesOfficial
Crit Happens! Demo Update Notes (July 24)
Quite a big update today... dice building has seen a bit of an overhaul. Before, when you bought a dice face, or chose a dice face at The Armory, it would show as a 0 and change its number to whichever slot you placed it. Now, dice faces will have fixed numbers, and will change the value of the slot they're placed in. What this means is that you could effectively swap out a 1 for a 6, this enhances the customizability of your dice. The demo might be slightly more difficult for a little while, as I work on rebalancing enemies and bosses around this new system. Feedback is appreciated!NewPurchased dice faces no longer change their value to match the slot they were placed in. Their value is not fixed, meaning you can have multiple of the same number of one dice.Campfires now guarantee a dice face with a value of 4 or greater when you choose to work on your dice.Elite and Boss battle shops are more likely to be selling higher value dice faces.Dice face prices are no longer fixed, and instead reflect the number on the dice face.FixesFixed a bug where Loose Dice would not activate during Elite or Boss battles.Read full article on Community Announcements (Connor Warrington)Patch NotesOfficial

For the most part, these bugs will have affected those using a controller to play...NewThe old tutorial, that acted as a slideshow that would appear the first time you started adventure mode has been removed. The replacement was mentioned in the previous patch notes.FixesFixed a bug where the enemy info modal would appear after selecting a tool to attack while using a controller, and would remain visible for the rest of the battle.Fixed a bug where selecting down with a controller the moment the enemy turn ends would result in a soft-lock/crash.Read full article on Community Announcements (Connor Warrington)
