Eternal Soul is a gothic Metroidvania where you steal the souls of your enemies. Explore the castle, find powerful items & abilities, fight against demonic creatures, and learn the truth of your power.
Action, Adventure, RPG · More free games
Venture through the sprawling corridors of Magnavale, harnessing enemy souls to unlock new paths in this action-packed Metroidvania adventure. Discover powerful items and abilities as you face demonic foes and unravel the mysteries surrounding your own power.
About this game
Castle Lexington beckons you. Step inside and learn the truth of your power. Fight hordes of demons, explore every passage, and discover new supplies for your loadout. Don't fear death, but embrace it. For the reaper itself is on your side, and it will revive you at your last resting place. Progress won't be lost, but some may remember your follies.
Dual Wield
Don't settle for either a quick short-range sword, or a slow long-range axe. Take both instead, and attack with a light & heavy weight weapon without the need for changing equipment.
Reap their Souls
Death grants you the ability to steal the souls of your enemies. Within each soul lies a unique power. Powers such as conjuring projectiles, transforming your physical state, summoning a guardian for protection, altering your abilities, and more.
Scavenge for Supplies
Unique weapons, armor, food, and more are scattered across Castle Lexington. Some can be found within the clutches of enemies you've slain. Find new items and grow in strength. You may even find some that are rather remarkable, and perhaps extraordinary.
Die at your Will
Death is not merely an outcome, but a strategy. Use it to quickly return to your last save point, and retain all progress that you've accrued. Remain prudent in its use, as nothing in this world comes free.

Promo Art Update & Demo Discussion
New Promo ArtHey everyone, this month we finally received the new promo art for the game, which is now live both here on Steam and on the game's website! We've updated the outro for the trailer as well, but not the rest of the trailer itself. So you'll still see Rita's previous sprite design there. We'll update the trailer, or perhaps make a new one, in due time. Upcoming Demo & Release Info We've got a release date goal (not during this year!), but we're not ready to announce that yet. Once we get closer to the date and have a clear path towards the finish line, then we'll announce it. We don't want to announce a date, and then miss it for whatever reason. That being said, a demo will be coming this year. We can say that with 100% confidence because a group of playtesters have already played it, and the demo is essentially complete. There's only two pieces in the playtest that need to be updated for the demo, and both are related to character design art. The updated art is already in progress, and will be completed soon. Playtesting went very well, with only one reported crash in a niche scenario. There were several bugs, typos, and whatnot that were easily solved. Special thanks to everyone who took the time to help playtest the game, we greatly appreciate it! We'll be hosting more playtesting sessions leading up to release. If you're interested then stay tuned for future opportunities to sign up.SocialsRemember to follow us on social media! Poll Winner: Dragon!
Hey everyone, the poll received over 350 votes (most from X, some from Steam, and few from Eternal Soul's newsletter). The winner is the dragon! Design #3 was in a close second. Nonetheless, we used #3's pose & shirt for her updated design. We also have new dialog portraits! This is the style we'll be using moving forward. This means we will have to redo all of the portraits in the game, which will take some time. We're also doing a final pass over all of Rita's in game animations (over 40 of them) to update them with this new design. And we're finally adding details to Rita's blank face.Be sure to follow the us on X/Twitter for more frequent announcements and updates! We'll also be posting Steam Announcements to keep everyone up to date on the current progress of the game.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dev)AnnouncementsOfficial
Character Design Poll!
Hey everyone, last month we launched the Steam page for Eternal Soul and received far more support than expected!Among the support we also received one very common piece of criticism. That being the dragons. Lots of people said the dragon characters do not fit in a Castlevania-styled game. And your voices have been heard loud and clear. We created a few new designs with different options, and are holding a poll for everyone to vote on their favorite design!Poll Closed - A new announcement with the results will be coming soon!Regarding the Dragon...We also started working on potential dialog portrait replacements, ones that better fit the style and tone of the game. Below is an example of just that. On the left is the original style, and on the right is a sketch for a new style. If this sways your opinion then great! Vote for Dragon-Rita! If not, then choose between the human options. Needless to say we will only continue with this new dragon style if Dragon-Rita wins overall. Otherwise we'll switch to human dialog portraits. You may be wondering what will happen to Dragon-Rita if one of the human designs wins. Well, she will be kept as an alternate style available via an item, ability, or cheat code. So even if a human wins, those of you who liked the dragon can still enjoy it as well.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dev)
