About this game
About the Game
Everstead: Origins is a unique idle simulation experience that allows you to watch a self-sustaining village evolve over time. Without direct control, you observe the settlers’ daily routines, social bonds, and the consequences of their decisions in a fully autonomous world.
Settlers
Every settler is unique — with individual traits, preferences, and organic routines. They wake, work, rest, socialize, and even form relationships or rivalries. Needs such as hunger, thirst, energy, and social fulfillment dynamically shape their mood and behavior. Settlers gain and lose weight, form families, and react to the environment around them.
Buildings
Structures in Everstead: Origins naturally age over time. As they decay, settlers will attempt repairs or eventually rebuild them from scratch. You don’t place buildings manually — instead, your settlement makes these decisions based on needs and available resources. All construction, maintenance, and even demolitions happen autonomously.
Nature
Immerse yourself in a stylized world filled with natural diversity. Different landscapes offer varied resources and opportunities. The ecosystem includes wild animals, diverse tree and plant species, and fully simulated fishing zones. Over 20 fish species can be caught based on the type of water body — from streams to lakes — each with distinct size and weight variations.
Weather & Time
Experience the passage of time with a dynamic calendar system, full day-night cycles, and seasonal changes. Weather impacts settler behavior and needs, adding layers of complexity to their lives. From rain that dampens moods to cold seasons requiring shelter, nature is more than just a backdrop.
Jobs & Economy
Your settlers will take on a variety of professions — from foresters, stonecutters, and hunters to bakers, innkeepers, and musicians. As your village grows, new roles will naturally emerge. All job assignments are based on a settler’s aptitude and interests — no micromanagement required.
Trade & Visitors
Once your settlement constructs a harbor, merchants from distant lands may begin arriving by ship. These traders bring unique goods and stories, offering valuable resources in exchange for your own surpluses. Over time, the trading system grows deeper — affecting economy, availability of rare items, and even cultural exchanges that shape your village’s development.

First Update of 2026
Developer Update – Project Status & Next StepsHey everyone,it’s been a bit quiet around Everstead: Origins lately, so here’s a quick and honest update.Since the last developer update in November, I’ve continued working with the revised design direction in mind. Over time, it became clear that many of the improvements made back then were pushing the project beyond what the current foundation could reasonably support.Because of that, I’ve decided to restart the project on a clean technical base, carrying over the core ideas, systems, and lessons learned so far – but without being limited by early design decisions that no longer fit. What’s important to say:The vision hasn’t changed, but the structure behind it hasThis step is about long-term stability, clarity, and development speedThe current focus is now on building a new demo that reflects this refined direction from the ground up. Once that foundation is solid, development will continue toward Early Access without committing to premature timelines. Thanks for sticking around – more updates will follow once there’s something concrete to show again.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dr. Asi)Patch NotesOfficial
New Building System & Early Access Timeline Update
🛠️ Developer Update: New Building System & Simplified Core MechanicsGreetings settlers and fellow enthusiasts of Everstead: Origins! 🌿After a lot of internal testing, design reflection, and community feedback, we’ve made the decision to slightly adjust the foundational systems behind Everstead’s simulation – all with one goal in mind: to create a smoother, more enjoyable and scalable experience for both players and developers alike.A New Era of Player-Driven ConstructionOne of the most exciting changes: you will now directly decide where and when buildings are placed in your growing settlement!Rather than relying on a background simulation to decide what gets built and where, the player will now take full control over the settlement’s growth. Think of it as a relaxed version of systems known from games like Anno or The Settlers – all within the cozy, low-fantasy world of Everstead. We believe this change opens up:More creative freedom in shaping your settlementImproved visual storytelling, as each player's village becomes truly uniqueFewer placement errors or odd behavior from automated systemsAnd a development structure that allows us to focus more energy on what really matters: the settlers themselves.Simplifying Where It Matters MostTo ensure the game remains stable and flexible long-term, we’re also streamlining certain internal systems – while keeping the charm and immersion intact. Here’s what’s changing under the hood:Tool usage (like hammers or axes) will be visualized and animated, but no longer represented as actual game items with durability or inventory states. Instead, settlers will eventually seek out a new tool when the time is right – no micromanagement or cluttered inventories.Warehouses and storage will act as logical hubs. You’ll see settlers storing and retrieving resources, but the inside of the building won’t need to physically display or stack every item. This allows us to simulate larger settlements more efficiently.Only a limited number of bui...Read full article on Community Announcements (Dr. Asi)AnnouncementsOfficial

Everstead Origins – A Milestone Reached!
The Steam Next Fest came to an end – and with it, a big decision has been made:We’ve officially reached (and likely passed) the minimum wishlist goal I had personally set to justify moving forward with Early Access! While it’s not quite the explosion I secretly dreamed of, it’s already far more than I expected for such a niche project. The feedback, wishlists, and overall interest during the demo have been an incredible motivator. Especially considering that over 93% of players who added it to their wishlist kept it there – a clear sign that something about the concept resonates.🧭 What’s next?Over the coming weeks, the project will transition into focused Early Access development. The entire settler system is being rebuilt from the ground up to support deeper simulation, smarter behavior, and a more dynamic world.A comprehensive Early Access roadmap is currently in the works and will be published a few weeks before release. It will give you a transparent look at what’s planned, what’s prioritized, and what to expect on day one – and beyond.💬 Join the Discord – and help shape what comes nextA new Beaver Fever Games Discord server will go live in the coming days, built around Everstead Origins and all future titles. It will be a place to:Stay up to date with developmentShare ideas and feedbackAsk questions and help othersChat about the universe and its lore...or just hang out and watch things unfoldI’ll be listening closely – but always with the intent to protect the core vision of the game. That means feedback and criticism are genuinely welcome – and many ideas might be adopted, as long as they align with the spirit of Everstead. Thanks for being part of this weird little experiment. And now... let’s build something special.Read full article on Community Announcements (Dr. Asi)Patch NotesOfficial
