Status Update | Village, Daily Life & Next Fest
Hello again! The Aquarium is taking part in Steam Next Fest, and a demo is waiting for you to play right now! The festival runs from Monday, June 15 to Monday, June 22, 2026, so this is the perfect moment to jump in, try it out, and let us know what you think. Demo UpdateTo go along with Next Fest, we have pushed a new update to the demo. The addition to the headline is the Aura score. You can raise it by sleeping, drinking tea or coffee, and taking showers, and a higher Aura score increases your chance of catching fish. This update also includes a handful of fixes and improvements: Fixed an issue where nights were too dark, both underwater and outsideChanged the UI toggle key from F12 to F6, since it was conflicting with Steam's screenshot functionAdded an option to enable or disable DLSS (enabled by default on High settings)Fixed a bug in the tutorial systemFixed several silent exceptionsThe Village and Daily LifeWe would also like to talk about some features that will be available in the full game. The biggest addition in the full release is the village, a place full of interactive NPCs and a social hub where you can barter, shop, handle basic crafting, and pick up side quests. On top of that, the main quest module brings a story arc to the game. Tourists- visitors who arrive on roughly 3 to 4-day cycles- shop in the village, and then leave, adding a new layer to the economy. We want the village to be the heart of cozy life. Heading out to fish in the morning, chatting with NPCs in the village in the afternoon, tending to your aquarium in the evening. And sometimes, getting ready with sweet anticipation for the day a group of tourists is about to arrive. That is the kind of day we are imagining.New Mechanics and Areas to ExploreThere are also new places to explore and new mechanics coming in the full release. The ocean environment, a new habitat with new speciesAlternative fish-catching mechanicsUnderwater coral harvestingATV riding and fast travel across the worldGat...Read full article on Community Announcements (Raintek)Patch NotesOfficial

Status Update | The Aquarium Demo Arrives May 13th
Hello! The Aquarium Demo will be available on Steam on May 13th, 2026. In this devlog, we want to share what you'll find in the demo and what's coming in the full release. While building the demo, we had one question on our minds: Does the aquarium experience and the feel of fishing, the heart of the game, actually click? Everything you'll see in the demo is our answer to that question. Everything else, the village, daily routines, and new exploration areas, is being built on top of this foundation and will be with you in the full release. What's Waiting for You in the Demo?Fishing, But Not the Way You're Used ToIn most games, fishing is just a mini-game: fill the gauge, and the fish is yours. We wanted something different. In The Aquarium, you catch fish in rivers and lakes with your hands, using gloves. You lean into the water, time it right, and hold the fish in your own hands. This feel is very different from moving a mini-game cursor. More direct, more satisfying."We wanted fishing to be one of our favorite parts of the game. The glove-catching mechanic makes you feel like you're truly part of the world the fish live in. Not from a distance with a rod, but from inside the water itself, without harming them."When you want to venture further, you can hop on a boat and explore different fishing zones. Each zone has its own fish species and its own atmosphere.Design Your AquariumThe fish you catch are waiting for their new homes. Our aquarium design system lets you create your own compositions with decorations, plants, and different themes. A lush Dutch-style planted tank, a dry desert-themed setup, or a vivid arrangement full of Malawi cichlids? The choice is yours. As you progress, you can purchase new aquariums and grow your collection. Each aquarium has its own ecosystem and character.Discover, Raise, and Breed Your FishPutting a fish in your aquarium is just the beginning. You feed them, grow them, and breed them. When the right conditions come together, fish pr...Read full article on Community Announcements (Raintek)AnnouncementsOfficial
