Dead Station Files

DaringNova · Published by DaringNova

Content notice: This game contains realistic depictions of blood, though they are infrequent and not the primary focus. Players may encounter scenes involving the implied death of characters, often represented through schematic visuals and atmospheric audio. The narrative explores themes of isolation, survival, and catastrophic failure in a sci-fi horror setting. While there is no graphic violence or gore, the tone is tense and may not be appropriate for all players.

About this game

Dead Station Files is a hardcore turn‑based roguelike puzzle about surviving on a doomed space station, experienced entirely through the Evacom™ — portable emergency terminal.

Plan ahead under pressure: use station systems, avoid deadly hazards, and make hard decisions to survive.

A hostile entity that kills everyone and brutally punishes mistakes, pushing the stakes to the limit.

It evolves with the disaster, growing more dangerous as station conditions worsen and hazards spread.

The station is packed with connected events that change over time and with your actions.

Characters play their part in the same tragedy from different points of view.

Plan your evacuation route through a collapsing station: decide where to spend precious time and resources, when to intervene, and what to avoid at all costs.

A large-scale tragedy told through fragmented records and files, pieced together by you.

Nothing is spelled out. Connect the dots and uncover what happened and why.

    UPDATE 0.8.3 IS LIVE!

Hello everyone! We’re happy to present a new Dead Station Files update!Version 0.8.3 expands the ways you can interact with the station and takes the first steps toward bringing the investigation beyond the game itself. ACC terminals are now connected through a shared network, Twitch viewers can take part in streamers’ runs, and our Discord integration lays the groundwork for future community events and special tasks. We’ve also reworked loot distribution, improved bot behavior, and added several important QoL improvements.ACC Terminal NetworkA new type of Speccomp has been added: the Access Point, or ACC. Activating one lets you select and apply the effect of another Speccomp. But ACC functionality goes beyond that. Access Points let you interact with the station’s network infrastructure and inspect the contents of connected devices using authentic Infocom commands. Infocom is a software module used to browse and read files and communicate with other terminals over the network.Find an Access Point and begin your own investigation inside the network of the dead station.Continuing the Investigation in Our Discord CommunityWe’re continuing to connect Dead Station Files with our Discord community.Update 0.8.3 expands the integration between Evacom authorization and content outside the game. This forms the foundation for future community events, exclusive content, and progression within the community. For example, the most attentive players willing to dig deep can already find a way on Chernobog to contact the first person outside the station: Data Broker, one of the players on the Barnaul sector’s shadow information market. Like you, Data Broker is trying to uncover the truth behind the Chernobog catastrophe and has motives of their own.NPC bots will become sources of special tasks that connect events within the community to the investigation of what happened aboard Chernobog XIII.Step beyond the station: join our Discord community and authorize Evacom by following the ins...

    UPDATE 0.8.2 IS NOW AVAILABLE!

Hello everyone! We’re excited to share the contents of the latest Dead Station Files update. In version 0.8.2, we fixed issues introduced after the release of the Final Inspection update and added new content, additional mechanics, and several important quality-of-life improvements.Equipment ReworkThere is now even more equipment to find on the station, while choosing items and creating builds have become an important part of progression and survival.New EquipmentEquipment is now divided into items available from the start and items that must be unlocked. New items can be unlocked by evacuating through different station exits and then found in subsequent runs. The new equipment expands your build options: Memory Chip — increases maximum LOG capacity. Hemocondenser — removes the maximum AP capacity limit while exploring levels. This allows medical compartments and items that improve AP recovery to serve as the foundation for new builds. Range Modulator — increases the range of the Evacom scanner on a level. Security Decoder — you asked, and we delivered! Guard Bots now highlight biosignatures detected by the scanner. Autoreanimator — brings the character back to life in the event of a non-violent death. The rest of the new equipment can be found by exploring Chernobog.Special EquipmentSpecial Equipment has also appeared on the station. These items significantly alter the usual rules of a run and make unusual gameplay situations and builds possible.Special Equipment is not easy to obtain: you will need to explore the station, find specific events, and fulfil the conditions associated with them.Equipment items will now be added to the Legend as they are discovered.Survey and Episode ChainsSome Surveys and Episodes are now connected into local story chains. While investigating the aftermath of the disaster, players will discover new leads, take part in related events, and gradually reconstruct what happened on Chernobog.Individual scenes and Tasks complement one another: Su...

UPDATE 0.8 “FINAL INSPECTION” IS HERE!

Introducing the Dead Station Files update «Final Inspection»!Every investigation reaches a moment when scattered fragments begin to form a coherent picture. For Dead Station Files, that moment arrives with the major «Final Inspection» update. It brings together the game’s most important elements: character progression, investigation development, expanded visuals, and new ways to look at what is happening on Chernobog XIII.This is not yet the final form of the game. It does not contain everything we would like it to have, but it is already enough to carry out a final test of its viability. This update will largely determine the fate of the project and what it will be like at release and even beyond. And an important role in this update belongs to the journey of the first character — the Inspector.Sasha Mann’s JourneySasha Mann becomes the face of the «Final Inspection» update. The new progression system, expanded visuals, and animated data fragments reveal the key stages of the Inspector’s story and the path she has taken. But do not expect the station to reveal its secrets on its own.Progression System«Final Inspection» is largely dedicated to the implementation of a comprehensive progression system for both characters and the global investigation into the causes of the catastrophe on Chernobog XIII.Each character now has their own progression, divided into two phases:Data CollectionThis is the phase in which the player becomes familiar with the character and unlocks their abilities — Utilities. By completing runs, you earn points and fill the Data Collection bar. Reaching milestones on this bar unlocks new unique abilities for the heroes.Route ReconstructionOnce Data Collection is completed, the Route Reconstruction phase becomes available for that character. Each character has their own canonical route, consisting of a specific sequence of completed tasks and encountered events. Completing this sequence within a single run will unlock the hero’s true ending and othe...
