Seas of Raesenia PAX West update!

Ahoy Captains! It's the end of summer, which means we're in the final stretches of development for the game. In this update, we'll cover the latest major demo patch, our plans going forward, and PAX West.Firing Up Combat, and Amping Up DangerThe final touches to combat are now in place, and fighting ships is more perilous than ever. The firefighting mechanic has been expanded to make damage control more dangerous and exciting, and officers now take damage from explosions happening in the rooms they occupy.Fires now have a chance to start whenever you or an enemy takes damage. The base chance is 5% per hit, with dedicated fire weapons (Hellfire Cannon, Flame Lance) carrying a higher chance to ignite. All weapons now deal a small fraction of their room damage to any officers inside the affected room, whether it's yours or an enemy's. Repairing a room under fire will eventually injure your officers, forcing you to decide whether to push them to the next repairable room or pull them back to the medbay before they're knocked out. This works both ways: target enemy officers to keep their rooms disabled.Progression UpdatesThe early game has been reworked to be more difficult. Once the Veil cutscene ends, you'll start with a much weaker ship. This adjustment steepens the early difficulty curve and should make weapon upgrades feel like meaningful power spikes. After the Veil cutscene, most rooms will start in a ruined state and need to be repaired.Ship components start unequipped, but become re-equippable once you restore the room.Weapon damage progression has also been updated. Tier 1 weapons are now noticeably stronger than the default Tier 0 weapons you start with.Shipboard Combat UpdatesBoarding ships now appear more frequently, and boarding mechanics have been overhauled for better feel and gameplay.Officers and enemies now have smoother transitions into and out of combat, with fewer hitches and visual bugs during fights.NPC Color VariantsWe're gradually rolling out color ...

MAJOR DEMO UPDATE: Content expansion, gameplay improvements, closed beta soon!

Ahoy Captains!Welcome to Oceanfest! We're thrilled to announce a major update to the demo! This one's been a long time coming, and we've packed a lot into it. Content expansion, combat rebalances, more crafting recipes, and expanded upgrade paths. Whether you've already played the demo or have been waiting for the right moment to jump in, now is a great time to try it.Combat RebalanceWe've taken a hard look at combat across the demo and made sweeping adjustments to improve pacing, player control, and gameplay feel. Expect yourself to be a lot more involved in combat, especially as you utilize the new Momentum system to respond to an ever changing battlefield. New System: Momentum. Build up momentum over the course of a battle, and unleash it to finish off an enemy. Use True Strike to hit an evasive enemy, or Devastate to finish the battle quickly. If you're hurting, Fortify will let you heal fast and shift your strategies around. All weapons and enemies have been rebalanced for a more exciting experience. Weapons have more strongly defined anti-shield, anti-armor, or debuffing roles to suit your desired playstyle. Enemies in general are tougher, require more involvement to defeat, and come in a wider variety of challenges. Crafting ExpansionPrior demo versions of crafting was an early iteration of the entire system. In this update, crafting has been fully fleshed out, and the first tier of crafting is now available one you recruit Talis. Weapons and ship equipment can be crafted now. Upgrade your old, ancient weapons to ones crafted aboard. Crafted weapons are notably stronger than your starter gear, and can be specialized further into a specific aspect. Rare, relic weapons can be acquired from questing, giving you equipment that changes how the ship functions in unique ways. Traders on islands will request items to trade for cold hard cash. If you find raw ingredients, take the time to refine them, and sell them for major profits. Story expansionSeveral questlines ...

Closed and open beta splitIn preparation for the full release of the game, we will be splitting the closed beta and open beta groups. Open Beta will continue to be available to all current testers. However, open beta builds will no longer receive constant updates and will instead be updated on a less frequent cadence.Closed Beta is a new, invite-only cohort for a focused group of dedicated testers. Closed beta participants will receive the latest builds on an ongoing basis and are expected to provide regular feedback on bugs and game balance. This change is being made for two reasons. First, we want to build a tighter feedback loop with a core group of testers who are actively engaged in shaping the game. Second, as development progresses into later story chapters, we want to keep upcoming narrative content as spoiler-free as possible for the broader player base.If you are interested in joining the closed beta, please join ...
