Explore a Lovecraftian dungeon that reshapes itself each run. Command your squad through treacherous corridors, battling horrors and collecting loot to free the caged badger.

About this game

Pick one of three heroes and descend into the dungeon, fighting your way down one floor at a time. Every level is generated fresh, so no two attempts play the same. When you die, you start over from the top.

Roguecraft DX takes about five minutes to learn. Getting good at it takes rather longer.

The critically acclaimed modern Amiga classic, now on PC.

Yes, if:

  • You want a roguelike you can pick up without reading a manual

  • You'd rather a run took half an hour than a whole evening

  • You'd like your first character to actually stand a chance

  • You think a badger following you through a Lovecraftian dungeon is a good idea

Probably not, if:

  • You're here for deep item identification, hunger clocks, inventory management and a hundred-key verb set. We built a deliberately compact system instead.

In Roguecraft, each of the three playable heroes brings a unique play-style and special abilities to the fight. They also represent different difficulty levels, so choose wisely! The Warrior delivers crushing blows, the Rogue blinks behind enemies for deadly backstabs, and the Wizard may be fragile, but unleashes powerful magic missiles.

Choosing a hero is choosing how hard the challenge is going to be.

Somewhere down there is a cage. Open it, pick up what's inside, give it a good scratch behind the ears, and it goes into your inventory until you need it.

Summon your familiar and it'll fight beside you and fetch loot you can't reach, but only for a handful of turns. It's there to get you out of a tight spot. Knowing when to let it out is half the trick.

Yes, one of them is a badger.

Classic Mode

  • Play the original procurerally generated 15-level dungeon, fight your way through its depths, and defeat the boss at the end.

Endless Dungeon Mode

  • Looking to prove yourself? Enter the Endless Dungeon, where the challenges get progressively tougher the deeper you go.

Chicken Run Mode

  • Want a tough challenge with a fun twist? Play as a Chick Un and see how far you can make it!

Every descent is unique. The dungeon reshapes itself with every run, ensuring a fresh challenge and new surprises each time you play.

Designed to respect your time, most runs last between 30–40 minutes, perfect for a focused session or a quick escape.

Every descent is generated fresh: new rooms, new routes, new ways to die. Unlabelled potions you probably shouldn't drink. Secret rooms you'll only find if you're paying attention.

Hand crafted isometric pixel art in the tradition it came from, every monster, shadow and flagstone placed deliberately. The dungeon oozes atmosphere, and the chickens have considerably more personality than strictly necessary.

For time immemorial a legend has been told of a dark, deadly dungeon containing unimaginable horrors and riches beyond belief. Enough riches and magic to make you a king, THE king even.

Tales of the dungeon was found in an ancient Egyptian library many years ago. The scrolls told rumors of an ancient dark presence and a magic amulet. The legend also tells of a wakening and of horrors to come. Your search carried you across the world - one riddle leading to the next.

Finally you are standing at the entrance of a dark and mystical dungeon. You, Zendar, a warrior, a wizard, or uhm, a rogue… are ready to defeat the monsters and gather the riches waiting below!

You just need to take a leak first.

Step into the dungeon. Embrace the unknown. The depths of Mordecoom await!

Originally developed in Assembly for the Commodore Amiga, Roguecraft has been faithfully ported to PC, preserving its authentic retro charm while bringing the experience to modern systems.

    We have added familiars!

You might have seen something about this on X or Bluesky, or the other SoMe we post tidbits to, but we wanted to let you folks know here on Steam too: We have added support for ingame familiars! Right now we have added a badger you can pick up and pet! When the familiar is freed from its cage you can pick up and pet it. That puts the familiar into your inventory, where it will wait patiently until you needs its assistance. If you summon your familiar from the inventory, it will help you fight other monsters, and will automatically pick up potions for you. It will be on a timer, and when that timer runs out it will disappear. Right now we are showing the death animation when the badger disappears, and that makes us pretty sad, so we will change it. When the familiar disappears it is gone, so you can only summon it once. Luckily you will be able to find multiple familiars in the dungeon. For now we have a cute little badger.😊NB! This feature is not in the demo, and will most likely not be added to the demo before release, as we are working hard to get the game ready for the September 10th release date!

    The Dungeon Opens September 10!

Hello everyone,The rumors are true: Roguecraft DX launches on Steam on September 10, 2026!What started years ago as a little roguelike written in Amiga Assembly has somehow crawled its way across the Commodore 64, the Amiga, the Evercade and more. Now the biggest version we've ever built is finally about to reach Steam. We can hardly believe it ourselves. What's waiting in the Dungeons of Mordecoom:- A casual yet challenging turn-based roguelike, inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and Lovecraftian horror - Three heroes, three playstyles: the crushing Warrior, the backstabbing Rogue, and the dangerously fragile Wizard - Procedurally generated dungeons full of mysterious potions, hidden rooms, many-eyed horrors, and one unnervingly aggressive chicken - Now in glorious 16:9 widescreen, with new content beyond what you've seen in the demo - Localization in English, German, French and more… - Original soundtrack, converted from original Amiga modules.Don't just take our word for it. The retro press has already braved the depths:"The Lovecraftian look has been achieved splendidly. Roguecraft will definitely not disappoint!" (Amiga Addict, 96%) "A sublime Rogue-like experience that will keep you playing." (Zzap!, 91%) "One game that you'll certainly want to return to." (Retro Gamer, 90%)Thank you ❤️We never imagined our little retro side project would get this kind of response. Every wishlist, bug report, kind word, and chicken-related complaint has shaped this game. We truly couldn't have done it without you.Until launch day, you can:- Wishlist Roguecraft DX so Steam reminds you the moment the dungeon opens - Try the free demo: five levels, all three heroes, and the extra-hard Chicken Run mode (where YOU are the chicken) - Tell a friend who misses classic dungeon crawlers - Join our DiscordSee you in Mordecoom on September 10!Ricki & Henning, Badger Punch Games
