Welcome to a world where magic is a whisper and the earth itself breathes.
Awaken as Iona, a young Leshen and caretaker of a land that floats along the sea. Your home is no ordinary island — it rests upon the ancient, moss-covered shell of Heimsskjald, a colossal sea turtle who has drifted through the currents of time.
Once a vibrant paradise, the island has fallen into a quiet slumber. Now, it is time to step into your role as a spirit of growth. Under the gentle guidance of Heimsskjald — whose wisdom is as deep as the ocean and as warm as a cup of tea —you will rejuvenate the land and breathe life back into every corner of this floating oasis.
Traverse the varied landscapes of Heimsskjald's back, from hidden caves to sun-drenched meadows. Discover creatures both brave and timid, meet mystical mermaids in the turtle's wake, and uncover remnants of a forgotten era. Dev log #2: Shaping the lands through Leshen Magic
Hello everyone! We're currently preparing to wrap up our spell system design, which has become quite robust with features. We have everything from rocks, different trees, light-binding totems, and eight different flowers to shape the island how you want. The island looks very different depending on how you shape it! Our goal was to give you, the player, as many options as possible, while not becoming too unwieldly in the options. You'll be able to make use of over a dozen spells, with the main large spells having their own size and age variations to play with. Below you can see how the monument looks with an area using pink flowers to make a heart: And here's the same area using different stones, birch trees in their various stages, and purple flowers:Below is an example of our Juniper tree in its smallest, state: And here we can see the Juniper tree in a more mature state: These are just a few examples of how you can use the different spells to match your goals on the island. Some people prefer light and cute flowers, while others really appreciate pushing the limits of what they can create! This is all wrapped up in an easy to use and intuitive Spell Wheel system, where you can pick your active large spell(like a tree, a rock, a totem, etc), and you pick your active secondary spell, which has a host of flower spells to choose from. Dev Blog #1 - What is Iona’s Island?
Hi everyone,Since this is our first blog entry, before we dive into the story and mechanics of the game, we’d like to give you a brief overview of what Iona’s Island is about.At its heart, Iona’s Island is a game meant to help players relax as they explore the island. There’s a sense of charm and wonder in everything you do on the Island, and you can play completely at your own pace. You’ll be able to enjoy the game while uncovering mysteries, or just enjoy the relaxing lofi beats in the background as Iona dances while you idle in game (Something we’ve spent far too many hours doing ourselves!) As Iona, you’re a resident of the spirit island that resides on a giant, friendly and wise, Sea Turtle’s back named Heimsskjald. From time to time, Iona wakes from a deep slumber, and helps Heimsskjald keep the island tidy and running smoothly. You can think of Iona as something like a magical gardner.
