Navigate KARATE ROGUE's turn-based combat, where each defensive move can become a devastating attack. Experience an innovative roguelike that challenges you in every step of your journey through the abyss.

About this game

A stance-driven, turn-based combo roguelike. Spend ACT to chain techniques, read the enemy, and turn defense into offense.

Strike. Survive. Evolve.

Combine a variety of moves to conquer hordes of demons! Strike while defending. Parry while striking. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. Each time you survive, you master a new art.

  •  Spend ACT to unleash techniques and build custom combos.

  • Discover synergies (e.g., land a Backspin Kick on a knocked-back enemy for huge bonus damage).

  • Choose stances that turn the enemy’s turn into your opening—deflect, counter, punish.

A foot clad in steel boots delivers a powerful kick—but a hand holding the legendary holy sword won’t throw a punch. Food that restores HP may be the most valuable item in the dungeon... but don’t overlook those that enhance your abilities.

  • Sometimes, wielding a weapon in one hand and kicking with the other can be your path to victory.
Adapt your equipment and techniques to forge a battle style that is uniquely your own.

You’re cast into the abyss with nothing but your body—forced to serve a “Dungeon Sentence”—a brutal punishment that throws you into the abyss.

But you have a way to survive: karate.

Deep below lies a rumored “power of God.”
What is it—and can you return to the surface alive?

Face monsters and unknown horrors, make allies where you can, and punch your way toward the truth at the bottom of the abyss.

Live it. Fight it. With your fists.

    Ultimate ARTs Are Finally Here!

Development is entering its final stages, and we're excited to finally reveal one of KARATE ROGUE's most powerful features: Ultimate ARTs.As you progress through each stage, more ARTs become available to learn. And upon reaching the deepest levels of the dungeon, our hero finally awakens to the secrets of the Ultimate Arts. These devastating techniques can completely reshape the course of battle, giving you powerful new trump cards against the increasingly dangerous monsters that await below.● Mach FistTransforms Seiken Strike into a devastating single-target attack that is guaranteed to hit—and guaranteed to critically strike.● Mach BurstA fist moving beyond the speed of sound unleashes a shockwave that shatters the Armor of every enemy.● MubyoshiHaving mastered the mysterious body mechanics of martial arts, your movement takes effect before the enemy's attack can reach you, reducing that enemy's Hit Rate and Attack.● Aerial Kick RiotConsume all remaining ACT to unleash a barrage of kicks in midair. The more ACT consumed, the longer the combo becomes.● Five Fingers, Six DeathsAn ancient killing art that dismantles the skull of an enemy whose HP has fallen below a certain threshold, killing them instantly. So—which Ultimate Art will you master?

What's New Since the Demo: Evasion Display Has Changed

KARATE ROGUE has continued to evolve through extensive playtesting and events such as BitSummit. One of the biggest changes since the demo is how evasion is displayed during battle.●BeforeThe demo displayed your character's evasion rate.●Release Ver.displays the enemy's hit rate instead. This change reflects the fact that different enemies have different accuracy modifiers, and that enemies encountered deeper in the dungeon become increasingly accurate. It also makes the effects of equipment, stances, and other bonuses much easier to understand at a glance.●"...Wait, that's the only thing you changed?"Suppose the game tells you:70% chance to evade30% chance to get hitMathematically, these describe exactly the same situation. But once you actually start playing, they feel completely different. To put it simply...The game suddenly feels much harder.Even as the developer, I found myself failing stages that I had previously cleared consistently. When you're building around evasion, seeing "30% chance to get hit" makes you think twice.Objectively, the information hasn't changed—but psychologically, you're paying much more attention to the possibility of failure. As a result, every decision feels more deliberate. At the same time, I think this also encourages deeper tactical play. When you're surrounded by multiple enemies, every attack becomes something to evaluate more carefully, rewarding flexible decision-making instead of relying on raw evasion alone.I'd love to hear what you think about this change in perspective.Does displaying enemy hit rate instead of your evasion rate change the way you approach combat?

KARATE ROGUE Is Being Polished for Its Release Later This Year!

Hello everyone!Development on KARATE ROGUE is moving forward steadily toward our planned release later this year. Some of you may already know from social media that KARATE ROGUE was selected as an Official Selection title at BitSummit this year. Thanks to our fantastic booth location right next to the main stage, we had the opportunity to welcome a huge number of players and receive an incredible amount of feedback.Your encouragement and suggestions have been a tremendous source of motivation for development. Thank you so much!A Major Visual OverhaulTake a look at how the game has evolved.Originally, I never intended to spend too much time polishing the game's visuals.Like classic roguelikes such as Rogue and NetHack, which have always been major inspirations. So, rather than elying on beautiful graphics alone, I wanted players to experience the invisible elements of martial arts: distance, timing, rhythm, and the fleeting openings that decide victory. The dungeon isn't just something to look at. It's something to feel through karate. However, as more and more people began following the project, I realized that it might be possible to preserve that core experience while also making a stronger first impression through better visuals.Once I started working on it... I simply couldn't stop.I believe the atmosphere of the game has become significantly stronger as a result. This update includes improvements such as:Completely redesigned floor tilesNew lighting and illumination effectsMore detailed walking animationsRefined UI framesImproved backgrounds and environmental presentationNone of these changes dramatically alter the game itself, but together they make exploring the dungeon feel much more immersive and exciting.Gameplay Improvements ContinueThe visual upgrade isn't the only thing we've been working on.We've also continued making numerous gameplay improvements, including displaying enemy Hit Rates during battle and many other quality-of-life refinements.Meanwhile, de...
