In Catch Flex, your physical actions become the controller as you navigate through fast-paced challenges using only your body. Experience an innovative blend of action and casual gameplay without needing VR or a gamepad.

About this game

Your body is the controller.

Catch Flex tracks your whole body — no VR headset, no gamepad, no wearables. Even the menus are gesture-controlled, so you never touch a button. Stand up, clear some space, and move to the beat.

MOVE TO HIT

  • Slash — cut blocks in the arrow's direction
  • Catch — snag rings with a hand or foot
  • Kick — boot the balls, or knock them back with a hand
  • Stomp — hit the floor marker right on the beat
  • Slide — ride the trail to the end
  • Dodge — duck, lean, or step over obstacles

Every song mixes the moves differently — your whole body plays, not your thumbs.

VOL. 1: TEN HAND-CHARTED TRACKS

Original music, 87 to 150 BPM — house, electro, techno. Charted for what a real body can do: everything within reach, no jumping. Play a few back to back and it's a workout.

Not chasing a score? Switch on no-fail mode and just move through the whole song.

SOLO OR VERSUS

Chase the global leaderboards on your own, or go head-to-head in local split-screen Versus. Achievements track you from your first song to an S rank on ten different tracks.

MAKE YOUR OWN LEVELS

Catch Flex Editor runs in your browser — nothing to install, nothing to buy. Bring any song, chart the moves yourself, and load the level into the game. A level is a single file: open it on your device, or send it over your Wi-Fi from any browser, which is how levels reach a TV. You'll find the editor on the Catch Flex website.

WHAT YOU NEED

Room to move, good lighting, your full body in frame, clothes that don't blend into the background. If your device has a camera, that camera is enough. If it has none — on a TV or a console — the free Catch Flex: Controller app turns your phone into one over your Wi-Fi. Versus needs one camera or phone per player. Either way, the bigger the screen, the better every move reads from across the room.

BODY TRACKING STAYS LOCAL

Tracking runs locally, on your own hardware, and camera images are never saved or uploaded. When your phone is the camera, only movement data crosses your own local network — the video never leaves the phone.

PAY ONCE, PLAY FOREVER

The ten Vol. 1 tracks, Versus, and the levels you make yourself — no ads, no subscriptions, yours for good.

Not sure the tracking will like your room? The free demo has the first track, no time limit — same game, same tracking.

See you on the leaderboards.

System Requirements

Will my PC run this? →

Minimum

Minimum:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit, version 21H1 or newer
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-6100 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or better (x64)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: DirectX 11 GPU with 1 GB VRAM — Intel UHD 620, GeForce GT 1030, Radeon RX 550. Enough to draw the game; on this tier let a phone do the tracking (see notes).
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 1 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: No webcam required — your phone can be the camera. The free Catch Flex: Controller app for iOS and Android does the tracking on the phone itself and sends only movement data over your own Wi-Fi, so the PC is left with nothing but drawing the game. That is also the smoother choice on a weak GPU. A webcam works just as well if you already have one. Either way, leave yourself room to stand and move with your whole body in frame, in even lighting.

Recommended

Recommended:
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-9400 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 580 with 4 GB VRAM - needed only if the PC itself tracks you from a webcam.
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 1 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Play with whichever you prefer: a webcam, or your phone running the free Catch Flex: Controller app for iOS and Android. Tracking from a webcam runs a neural network on the GPU and needs compute shader support; the phone does that work itself instead. A 1080p 60 fps webcam and even, front-facing light give the steadiest tracking. Local split-screen Versus draws two views and roughly doubles the GPU cost.

Catch Flex 1.3.0: play it in VR, as an experimental mode

Catch Flex was built for people without a headset: one camera, no gamepad, no wearables. Today it also plays in VR, and the camera is what makes it different from every other VR rhythm game. Your headset and controllers carry your head and hands. Your phone, standing in front of you, keeps tracking your legs. So the balls still want your feet, the floor markers still want a stomp, and a slide is still a slide, with nothing strapped to your ankles. How to playAny OpenXR headset through SteamVR. A Quest connects over Steam Link or Link. Launch Catch Flex and pick "Catch Flex VR (Experimental)" when Steam asks how to launch. The free demo has it too. Put your phone in front of you with the free Catch Flex: Controller app. It finds the game on your Wi-Fi by itself. No app yet? The code to get it is in the menu and on your PC's monitor. Stand in the T-pose the game shows and hold both triggers for a second. That is the whole calibration. No phone at hand?VR also plays with your hands alone. Stomps turn into blocks at chest height that you cut downwards, slides rise into the air, and everything else on the floor comes up to your waist. What is inThe full Vol. 1, the free track in the demo, your own levels from the editor, and blades on your fists for slashing blocks. VR keeps its own leaderboards, one for the full body with the phone and one for the hands alone, so nobody competes against a different setup. ExperimentalThe legs come from a phone camera, so they can lag a little and drift when you sway. If something looks off, write to support@catchflex.com or tell us on Discord: catchflex.com/discord

Update 1.2.1: make a level from your own song

Your music, your levelsMake a level from any song you own. ADD LEVELS now opens a page in your browser that listens to the song and builds a level from it. Maps from other rhythm games that use mods only to place notes now import. The import page says plainly which files it takes, and a level that cannot be used tells you why. Your own levels count toward Warm-Up, Face Off and Workout, and toward Mighty Five and On Repeat when the song runs longer than a minute. S ranks and leaderboards stay with the built-in songs. CUSTOM LEVELS now comes first in the song list. Easier menusHold an arrow key, the d-pad or a stick to keep scrolling, or hold your hand out to the side. Menu gestures respond more reliably, and the phone no longer presses cards by itself right after it connects. The setting is now called MENU GESTURES and sits in SYSTEM. Escape on the main menu asks whether you want to quit. New settingsSHOW CAMERA EDGES marks on the track where the camera's view ends, so you know before you step out of it. IN-GAME PREVIEW sets the corner view to Off, Normal or Large, and with SHOW HUD off nothing is drawn over the game, for streaming. REDUCED FLASH in GRAPHICS steadies the lasers and the floor and softens hit effects. LIGHT FRAME puts a light border around the screen, so the TV lights you up for the camera in a dark room. Your first song names each move as it comes: slash blocks, catch rings, kick balls, stomp, slide and dodge. On SteamSteam Game Recording marks every song you play with its difficulty, rank and score, so a run is easy to find and clip later. FixesA hit ball no longer bounces back at you off the tunnel wall. Phone tracking recovers by itself when the system drops the connection. The game opens behind a loading screen instead of a stalled first menu. Confirming with a gamepad keeps working after the menu has been steered by movement.

    Jump, and everybody else's charts

Jumping is real now, and it is on by defaultFloor obstacles are something you jump over, not just something you edge around, and two stomps on one beat land on both feet instead of splitting into rings. The detector was rebuilt from the ground up. It reads the push off the floor, checks the physics of where your body is heading, and waits for both feet to leave before the avatar goes anywhere. Walking toward the camera and standing up out of a crouch stopped counting as jumps. Want it the way it was? Settings > Body Tracking > Jump Detection, off, and obstacles go back to opening a gap for you. Bring the charts you already haveCatch Flex now reads the level formats other rhythm communities author in, old versions and new alike. Hand them over and they are converted on the way in, arriving as ordinary Catch Flex levels that play and score like anything else in your library. And no, you do not need the editorADD LEVELS on the main menu puts a QR code on the screen. Open it from any device on your Wi-Fi and hand over as much as you like in one go: several files, a whole folder, an entire pack. Every chart in the drop becomes its own level. Curious what the converter made of it, or want to tune it first? The web editor opens the same files and can push a level straight into the running game.

1.1 is live: ranks reworked, audio offset added, tutorial fixed on Steam Deck

Play SSS is in. A new top rank sits above SS, and every line under it moved down, so runs that used to flatten out at S finally show what they were worth. Nothing you already earned moves backwards: every saved result keeps its letter or gets a better one, and the same run scores more than it used to. Your old bests are sitting there, beatable. Go take them. Songs start when you are ready. A level opens on a loading screen instead of a frozen first beat, and the count-in is five seconds instead of ten, so the wait is you getting into position rather than you watching nothing. A gesture you half caught keeps your streak. A line of rings counts as one thing and a slide stops breaking in the middle, so the combo you feel is the combo you get. Sound and tracking Sound lines up. AUDIO OFFSET in settings dials out the delay your TV or speakers add, and "+" on TIMING OFFSET means later again, exactly the way it reads. Tracking holds steadier. A phone lying on its side moves you as far as one standing up, a phone that reboots is found again without restarting the game, and ankles no longer flip around the shin. New camera work. VIEW FOLLOW rides the body instead of watching from a fixed seat, marked PREVIEW while it settles. Around the game The menus got a proper pass. Settings are grouped into GAMEPLAY, BODY TRACKING, GRAPHICS, AUDIO, PLAYER 2 and SYSTEM, the results page and the leaderboards are redrawn, cards carry a rank badge and a difficulty chip, and text stays inside its frame. Tutorial clips play on Steam Deck and on Linux. Where Proton could not decode the video they run as frames now, instead of a placeholder telling you it cannot play.

Catch Flex is out now — your body is the controller

Catch Flex is out! It's a rhythm game where your whole body is the controller: an ordinary camera reads your arms and legs. No VR headset, no gamepad, no wearables. After a long development run the game skips Early Access and launches with every planned feature in: Vol. 1: ten hand-charted tracks — house, electro and techno, 96–150 BPM. Split-screen Versus — go head-to-head with a friend on one screen for the best score. One copy covers both players. The second player only needs their own camera or phone. Global leaderboards — one per track. Ten achievements — and not all of them will come easy. Tracking through a webcam or your phone. https://controller.catchflex.com — the free controller app turns your phone into the camera over Wi-Fi with the lowest possible latency. Make sure you have enough room to move, good lighting, and your full body visible in frame. Custom level loading — the "Add Levels" entry right in the main menu. Level editor — https://editor.catchflex.com. Runs in any browser, nothing to install. Test your level directly in the game: switch on Creator Mode (Settings → System) and the editor plays the level on your screen. Six gameplay elements: • Cut — a quick swing through the block in the arrow's direction • Catch — touch the rings with a hand or foot • Kick — strike balls with your foot or knock them back with a hand • Stomp — hit the floor marker right on the beat • Slide — keep your hand or foot on the trail to the very end • Dodge — duck under or step over the obstacles Steam Deck support — the phone app is the camera. We recommend hooking the Deck up to a TV: the bigger the screen, the better every move reads. Still on the fence? Try the updated demo — the first track in full, no time limit: same game, same tracking. Launch offer: 10% off until September 12. If you enjoy it, leave a Steam review. Even a single line helps a small game more than anything else. See you on the leaderboards. — Catch Flex · Vilegacy LLC
