About this game

Introduction

MineSweeper Rush is a new 2D casual game that follows classic Minesweeper rules and adds new features for a fast-paced, competitive experience.
The minefield grows upward continuously. When you hit a mine, the game does not end immediately—instead, two new rows are quickly added.
Clearing a row happens when you mark all the mines in it. If there are fewer than four rows, four new rows appear along with bonus points.
As your score increases, the game speeds up. This racing element means every second counts and makes the challenge even tougher.
You can choose from three modes: Easy, Normal, and Hard, or change the board size and the number of mines using shortcut keys.
Your high score is recorded on one of five leaderboards so you can compare your speed and accuracy with other players.

Gameplay

Right-clicking a block puts a question mark on it. A block gets a flag only when it is confirmed to have a mine.
You can mark a block by clicking the number next to it, and the game will automatically place flags based on the situation.
Four different drag modes help you clear mines faster and score more points in less time.
An AI system keeps the game fair. If no safe move exists, clicking a mine will not cause a penalty.

Features

A built-in tutorial shows you how to play quickly, while the help menu provides clear pictures and step-by-step instructions on rules and strategies.
Background music and sound effects build excitement and help you focus during the race.
Six different skins are available to reduce eye strain during long, fast-paced sessions.
The game window can be resized to perfectly match the board size and your screen resolution.
A hidden cheat mode displays solvable blocks and automatically clears mines, making it easier to learn quick strategies.
Various number display styles help you see the game state clearly, so you can plan your moves rapidly.

    20260524 update

    1. Fixed music loading and playback issues: Improved MIDI music detection, loading, and playback handling. This reduces the chance of invalid playback behavior when MIDI support is unavailable or when music files fail to load correctly. 2. Fixed a Steam achievement constant: Corrected the achievement constant for CUM_DEAD_1000, preventing the wrong achievement from being checked or unlocked when death-count progress is updated. 3. Fixed Steam leaderboard handling: Improved leaderboard handle validation and recovery. Leaderboards should now load, display, and update more reliably when Steam fails to return a valid leaderboard handle on the first attempt. 4. Fixed line-adding logic: Corrected edge cases in the new-line generation process, including situations related to Relax Mode, mask rows, and automatic line updates after mine triggers or full-grid events. 5. Fixed graphics resource cleanup: Corrected bitmap and device context release logic to prevent resource leaks and improve stability when loading, resizing, or refreshing game graphics. 6. Fixed board mouse input handling: Improved mouse event handling on the game board, reducing the chance of incorrect clicks or invalid board interactions. 7. 20250621 update

    1. Added Relax Mode: You can now enable this mode by clicking the icon in the "About" menu. As it's still in testing, it's currently available as a preview. Once enabled, the anti-cheat system activates—achievements can't be earned, stats won't be recorded, and the game won't count towards the leaderboard. In Relax Mode, the empty row at the top (i.e., the mask row) stays fixed. Players earn points for each cleared line, and a new line is automatically added. Conversely, when a line is added due to a mine trigger or full grid, points are deducted, but no new line is added and the game doesn't end. 2. Fixed issue where mines in the top mask row were incorrectly triggered during consecutive line clears: The game follows a “add line before clear” logic. In some cases, both adding and clearing lines happen in succession. For example, clicking a mine causes all mines in that row to explode and be cleared. At the same time, a new line is added, which may trigger the auto-reveal of adjacent empty tiles (with value 0). If all non-mine tiles in the new line are revealed, more clearing and adding can follow. New lines are created by copying the previous one. If the mask row is at the top and more than two consecutive clears happen, the two rows above it may not yet have mine data. If auto-reveal continues, these uninitialized tiles may open early, causing unintended mine triggers. This has been fixed by disabling auto-reveal of adjacent blanks in the top area, avoiding premature tile openings.
