    🛠️ Cyber Evolution – Devlog #3

Hey everyone! We’re back — and a few days early this time! This update brings some major new systems, a bunch of fresh evolutions, and several new maps to shake things up. Let’s get into it.🌟 Introducing: Prime EvolutionsThe biggest addition in this update is the first pass of our Prime Evolution system!Prime Evolutions are selected only in the first round and set the tone for your entire match. Think of them as your core combat identity for the run. Here’s what’s currently available:Mono-Core A single, high-damage shot to start your run strong and precise.Thermal Overdrive (New) Machine-gun-like firing with rapid shots, low damage, and an overheat risk if you hold down the trigger too long.Shotgun The classic close-range burst returns — now reworked into a Prime Evolution slot.Plasma Condenser (New) Charge your weapon using all available heat for a massive projectile. More heat = more damage and size.More Prime Evolutions are already in the works and will roll out in the next update!🧬 New EvolutionsEnergy Shell Burst – Convert your shield into a short-range explosion that can shock enemies.Enhanced Servos – A straightforward movement speed boost.Kinetic Absorption – Gain a speed burst when you take damage.Heat Sink Array – Increases your heat capacity, allowing for longer fire windows.Plasma Fragmentation – Adds more projectiles to Shotgun blasts.D7 Spread Enhancer – Tightens spread for more focused Shotgun damage.Momentum Core – Projectiles grow in size and damage the farther they travel.🗺️ New MapsYou asked for more maps — and we delivered!Cyber City (formerly Mega City) A massive, multi-zone map containing four regions: Warehouse, Downtown, Power Plant, and Residential.Biolab A tight, vertical map where players spawn underneath and use a launch tube to jump into the fight.Bounce House A medium-sized arena packed with launch pads for wild angles and chaotic plays.Containment A close-quarters map featuring tight container corridors and a single-exit spawn room you’l...

Bi-Weekly(ish) Devlog #2 – New Maps, Overhauls, and Evolutions!

Hey everyone! We’re back — a little late this time (we’re calling it bi-weekly-ish), but we’ve got a solid batch of updates that we think you’ll enjoy. Let’s jump into what’s new!💻 UI Overhaul ProgressThe transition to Common UI is nearly complete on the backend! Most of the heavy lifting is done, and the system is much more scalable and stable. Some new animations and sound effects are already in — especially on the profile select screen — and you can expect art updates as we inch closer to our planned Q4 launch. This is a foundational change, so we’ll be iterating on the visuals over time.🔄 Round Start FixesWe’ve put a lot of work into improving round starts. There were a few pesky bugs causing desync or inconsistent timing when rounds began. While we’re still chasing down a few edge cases, the experience is now noticeably more stable and snappy across the board.💥 Damage System OverhaulWe’ve reworked the damage application system to make it faster and more reliable. This also laid the groundwork for better balance control — several evolutions have been re-tuned to work with the new system. You’ll feel the difference in responsiveness during fights.🗺️ New MapsWe’ve added two new maps to shake things up:Pillars A tight, close-quarters map filled with pillars that break sightlines and create some really creative combat angles. There’s also a launch pad in the central building that lets you reach a second level — high ground fans, rejoice.Drop Zone (Work in Progress) A chaotic battlefield with a missing center floor. Instead, you’ve got a few sketchy platforms — which fall at random when someone lands on them. Adds a big risk-reward twist with the chance to fall to your doom. It’s wild, and we’re still fine-tuning it.🧬 New EvolutionQuantum Step (Work in Progress) This one lets you teleport forward to a location within your line of sight. It stacks, too — so you can jump even further if you double down on it. Still squashing some bugs with it, but it’s already a blast t...

Cyber Evolution — Dev Update #1: Welcome to the Bi-Weekly Recap!

Welcome to the first official bi-weekly devlog for Cyber Evolution! We’re laying the foundation for a smoother, more responsive game — from reworked UI to refined combat and early controller support. 🔫 Shooting & Overheat Updates Combat is starting to feel much tighter and more satisfying. Projectile visuals have been updated, with new sounds to match Impact effects now look and sound more impactful New animations for both shooting and overheating help sell the action Overheat visuals give clearer feedback on buildup and cooldown We also made timing and base speed adjustments to better sync visuals and gameplay. The improvements have added a real punch and clarity. We’re still tuning sound attenuation to avoid overwhelming audio in chaotic moments, but we’re thrilled with how it’s coming together. 🎮 Controller Support Progress Our first step toward full controller support is in! Movement, aiming, and shooting are functional using an Xbox One controller Main menu navigation is mostly working Other menus and combat features like dash and shield are still in development Only Xbox controllers have been tested so far, but we’re planning full support — including custom keybinding and rebinding systems down the road. 🧩 UI Improvements & Common UI Migration A total visual refresh is underway. The UI has been completely rebuilt visually to better match the style and colors of the Cyber Evolution brand We’ve migrated to Unreal’s Common UI subsystem for better consistency, scalability, and input handling Previous menus have been updated; the gameplay HUD is in progress Loading and transition screens are on deck next This is a huge step forward in streamlining our interface. Once everything’s migrated, we’ll begin adding new sound effects and UI animations to finish the transformation. 🔮 What’s Next? In the next two weeks, we’re aiming to: Finish migrating the remaining UI elements to Common UI Add new SFX to the interface for improved feedback Continue refining controller inpu...
