Design intricate patterns and watch them collapse for points in Pyramis. This unique arcade puzzle experience challenges your color-matching skills across a series of ever-evolving levels.

About this game

Line up patterned blocks to build as many pyramids as you can, then crush them all at once to convert them into points! Pyramis is an arcade puzzle game that will have you matching colors, filling in space, and making chains in entirely new ways.

Designed for puzzle fans first and foremost, Pyramis is a challenging game, and the best strategies demand skill and close attention. For first time players, building a pyramid can be a challenge itself, but beyond that, the pyramids you build can be extended, rotated, overlapped, intersected, chained, and recursive!

In Arcade mode, the goal is to earn the highest score you can and survive as long as possible while the game continually gets faster.

Additional modes will be added as development continues!

Pyramis 1.0.1 (it's not the refactor sorry)

This is just a small update to the GDScript version of Pyramis. The refactor is still a work in progress, but while you wait, I figured I might as well do something nice...! Removed the time limit from the quick config menu. Originally, it was supposed to be possible to set the game up like an arcade game, and everything was designed to eventually force you to continue. ...There's not much point to this in the GDScript version anymore, though, so I removed it. (I might bring the arcade setup idea back for the refactor, and only have the timer apply under that circumstance.) Version number has been added back to the title screen. Thank you for your patience and kindness so far. I'm sorry that the refactor's taken so long. I still think the currently available version is fun to play every now and then, and I hope you do too.By the way, in the previous update post, I mentioned the idea of a library version of Pyramis written in C that I could write once so I'd never have to rewrite the core game logic ever again. ...I actually managed to pull that off, so that's a big part of the refactor done! You can actually look at the source code for it here if you want. The repository doesn't have a license, and technically speaking, I think you're not actually allowed to do anything with this stuff. Personally, though, I don't mind if you make something privately and for fun...Now I just need to plug this C code into Godot. Stay tuned...?

Still working on the new version!

Hi, sorry that it's been a while since the last update! I don't have anything too exciting to share right now, but I at least want to ease any potential worries and talk about how things are going.A lot of what I'm about to talk about is a bit technical, and probably only really interesting if you're interested in programming-related stuff, so if you don't want to bother with all that and go on with your day, the TL;DR is just that I am indeed still working on the game and that there's nothing to worry about.Around the time of the previous update I posted, I did start working on a refactor of the game using the C# version of Godot! Gameplay-wise, it was actually turning out really good... but I guess I didn't have a very good grasp of what I was doing with C#, because the performance was kind of terrible... especially for a simple puzzle game like this one. I didn't really know how to fix it and I would've hated for the game to end up in a state like that, so I'd decided to put it off for a little while and come back when I felt more prepared.Between then and now, I'd started teaching myself more of the lower-level stuff in regards to programming and writing in languages like C and C++, and I even started getting into writing homebrew for consoles. I feel a lot more confident in my abilities, and I think I know where I went wrong, and I've got a pretty good idea of what I wanna do.This might be a little overambitious, but I've started writing a "core" version of Pyramis in C, meant to be used as a library in either a game written from the ground up or as an extension for an engine like Godot. If all goes well, then this version of the game be really performant AND easy to reuse as a basis for anything like a potential sequel or a port (or, heaven forbid, another rewrite). I'm not promising this but it might even be possible to release the source code separately to allow YOU to make your OWN port or weird version of Pyramis. We'll see how that ends up going, I guess. ...

Pyramis 1.0.0 + Future development plans

It's finally here! Pyramis 1.0.0! ...Now, you may notice that barely anything has changed in this update. Don't worry! I'll explain after these patch notes: Adjusted the order of the colors in palettes 4 & 5 to further emphasize the intent of a respective "warm" and "cool" palette when playing with 3 colors. When I decided the original order of the colors, I had this idea that the first color of the palette had to be the color most similar to red. I thought about it a little more, and actually, never mind, that's dumb. (Aside from some very slight tweaks for contrast reasons, the original color scheme is still available when playing with 4 colors.) Adjusted the colors of palette 6. The original white colored block looked strange when the highlight effect was applied to it, so it's been changed to a cool off-white. Version number is no longer shown in-game. As for the final-looking version number... The version of Pyramis that I've been developing started out as a messy prototype, and I've been building on top of it to turn it into what it is now. As more people play the game, and more features are suggested... I'm beginning to realize how unstable of a foundation the original prototype has become. It was a very difficult decision to make, but I've decided that this version of Pyramis is finished! As a prototype, it does what it needs to do by demonstrating the gameplay of Pyramis and I'm not going to be working on it anymore... ...because I have to start all over again. This comes with both good news and bad news. For you, the good news is that this generally isn't your problem and you don't actually have to do anything! When this "remake" of Pyramis is ready, you'll just receive it as another update. Also, the game is going to become a lot better, with lots of really nice QOL features (some of which have already been implemented in the remake). The bad news is that this update... will probably take a while. Please be patient as I work on this new version. For me, t...

    Pyramis 0.3.2

Mirage, the mascot of Pyramis, has been added to the game! She appeared in the background of the old trial version, and if you looked closely, you'd have noticed that she was always in the taskbar icon... but now she'll be right next to your board, cheering you on as you play!Originally, the alternate block palettes were implemented as an accessibility option for colorblind players, but players without colorblindness still chose them for the sake of playing with different colors... so additional palettes have been added! Now those with full color vision can play with palettes such as "Warm Sunset" and "Cotton Candy" instead of "Muddy Dark Yellow That Was Only Added As An Option In Case You Need To Resort To It To Perceive The Game"In addition to this, the red-green colorblindness palette's colors have been reordered to look nicer when playing with 3 colors.Copyright screen has been added at the start to clean up the presentation of the title screen. Screens will now also prompt you to "PRESS START BUTTON" when you're able to begin the game."MINI PYRAMID BONUS" has been renamed to "MINI PYRAMID CLEANUP" to better explain what the intent and benefit of that mechanic is.

    Pyramis 0.3.1

This version fixes an issue I noticed when watching gameplay from Notester82 (Thank you for streaming Pyramis, and sorry about the bug!) Fixed an issue that caused crush scores to be incorrectly calculated at certain speed settings. The entire score was supposed to be rounded down to prevent issues with decimal numbers, but by mistake, it was only applied to the game speed multiplier! This means that playing at x1.5 speed would only earn you a x1.0 multiplier, and playing at x0.5 speed would apply an absolutely devastating x0.0 multiplier. I apologize for this mistake. The speed multiplier option was added last minute before the Steam launch, and probably should have been tested further. I suppose this is also the nature of Early Access, though. I'd like to thank all of you Early Access players for supporting me as I figure these things out. With these being the first patch notes on Steam, I will use this opportunity to mention- please do not hesitate to point out any bugs or other issues you find in the Steam discussions or the Itch community! I'm very grateful for the handful of you who are enjoying the game and will do my best to ensure it's the best it can possibly be for all of you.
