Embark on the challenge of building and governing Socialiskigrad’s metropolises as you shape working-class districts and develop national industry. Will you become the shining President your nation deserves?

About this game

Welcome to the Republic of Socialiskigrad! In this city builder set in a fictional emerging post-Soviet republic, you will play as a mayor tasked with managing national development and pursuing a brilliant career — all the way to a run for the presidency.

As a state official, your duty is to transform empty building lots into vibrant, modern neighborhoods, creating metropolises that reflect the dynamism of a socialist urban system in constant evolution.

Build your city district by district, choosing how to develop each of the 14 available regions.

Shape residential blocks, factories, markets, hospitals, barracks, churches, ports, airports, and railway stations, striving to create a harmonious and balanced system.

Every building contributes to the city’s growth, but also brings new challenges to overcome: resource shortages, citizens’ needs, and sudden emergencies.

You’ll need to manage essential resources such as the municipal treasury, electricity production, food supply, and other crucial aspects including public safety, state healthcare, party propaganda, and government services.

Keep a careful balance between production and consumption, make sure residential blocks and industries are renovated on time, and, if you want to give the city a fresh look, repaint buildings to create uniform, orderly, and attractive neighborhoods.

A simple yet engaging management system, designed to keep you connected to the fate of your beloved district.

Each district offers unique challenges and specific goals: grow the population, ensure industrial and social development, and transform empty countryside into a glittering concrete cluster in pure brutalist style.

By completing these tasks, you will advance your career, unlocking new districts to govern and new special buildings.

  • Build tile-based metropolises across 14 unique districts in four different biomes (steppe, countryside, forest, seaside)

  • Construct residential blocks, industries, markets, hospitals, barracks, churches, ports, airports, stations, mines, shopping centers, and dozens of other buildings

  • Manage key resources: treasury, energy, workforce, food, security, healthcare, propaganda, services, leisure, and corruption

  • Introduce municipal taxes to boost income while carefully avoiding workers’ strikes

  • Renovate and repaint buildings to refresh entire neighborhoods

  • Face emergencies and respond to requests from the city council

  • Complete sector objectives to rise through the ranks and unlock new areas

  • Dynamic day–night cycle

  • In Socialiskigrad, it often snows!

What this game offers — and what it doesn’t

Socialiskigrad is a lightly dystopian city builder, but it doesn’t carry negative or politically biased messages: it’s a game designed for relaxation.

Don’t expect extreme difficulty: the mechanics are relatively simple, with the goal of offering a pleasant and entertaining experience.

The estimated playtime, once you’ve learned the basics, is around 15 hours — but the game can be replayed endlessly!

And for fans of the genre, there’s an extra treat: dazzling and efficient brutalist architecture. Concrete in all its forms!

Added a menu for quickly searching for special buildings

Tired of searching for the tile where you can build a specific building, like the prison or the grain silo? Now, by clicking the button at the bottom (the one with the question mark) a menu opens listing all the special buildings. Clicking the corresponding button highlights all the tiles where that building can be constructed (silos, found in the factories menu, in yellow, government buildings in blue, and socialist buildings in tan).Is it a useful idea?

    Playtest Results, Thank You Everyone!

The Socialiskigrad Playtest has now come to an end, and first of all, I would like to thank everyone who took part.A special thank you also goes to all the players who took the time to report bugs, issues, and suggestions. Your feedback has been extremely useful in helping me understand which aspects of the game still need work.I am happy to say that all the bugs reported to me during the Playtest have now been fixed.A few clarifications about the gameOne thing that clearly emerged from the feedback is that several players expected Socialiskigrad to be something very similar to Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic.I completely understand why the comparison was made, especially considering the setting and genre, but I would like to clarify one important point: Socialiskigrad is not a clone of Workers & Resources, nor is it intended to be one.The two games share some superficial similarities, but Socialiskigrad is an independent game, with different mechanics, objectives, and a different gameplay philosophy. My goal is to continue developing Socialiskigrad in the direction I originally envisioned, rather than trying to turn it into another game.RoadsAnother very common request was the ability to build roads directly. At the moment, this feature is not available in the game, but I am working on finding out if and how it could be implemented.I don't want to promise a feature before I am sure that it can be properly integrated into the current building system, but I am seriously considering adding it.Finding Special BuildingsAnother issue reported by several players was the difficulty of understanding which buildings can be constructed on specific tiles. Some buildings can only be constructed on specific types of tiles, and during the Playtest it was not always immediately clear which ones they were. For this reason, I have added a new help feature:you can now activate real-time tips. When this feature is enabled, hovering the mouse over a tile will show the special building...
