About this game

Golden Tides is a 4v4 adventure MOBA built around WASD combat. No lane phase. No towers. Fight across open islands, dungeons, and hidden temples in fast 20-25 minute matches where your crew explores, brawls, and loots together. Between fights, you and your crew take to the sea with full ship-to-ship MOBA combat, where every cannonshot is a skillshot. Every match plays different. Every match feels like an adventure.

Every match is an adventure across three islands, randomly chosen from a growing roster. Both crews land on the same island, fighting NPCs and each other while hunting for a buried treasure map. The crew that grabs it first sets sail with a lead. Between islands, crews clash in ship-to-ship combat. The second island has one treasure. Find it, grab it, and get it back to your ship before the other crew takes it from you. The final island has a delivery point. Fight to deliver the treasure and win. Along the way, spend gold at shops to buy items and grow stronger.

  • Experience the deep, skill-based gameplay you’d expect from top-tier MOBAs. Whether you’re setting up the perfect engage, punishing a greedy overextend, or outplaying foes in tense PvP duels, every victory comes down to a mix of sharp execution and smart strategy.

  • Engage in ability-based ship combat where timing, positioning, and teamwork shape every outcome. Every cannon volley, mortar blast, and harpoon strike is a skillshot, turning sea battles into tactical, high-stakes encounters just as intense as any fight on land.

  • Whether you're a brawler, assassin, marksman, or strategist, Golden Tides lets you choose your path. Farm PvE for treasure and loot to power up, or hunt enemy crews for high-risk, high-reward dominance. However you play, every match is different.

  • Each match unfolds in a massive open world with dynamic events, taking the endless replayability of MOBAs to ludicrous levels. And with constant updates, special events, and even more game modes on the horizon, there’s always something new to discover in Golden Tides.

With an ever-growing roster of playable pirates, from the sea elf General Almandee-Breeze who commands the tides themselves, to the ruthless Captain Ashar Sharp and the frost-wielding mage Helios, you’re sure to find a hero that fits your playstyle. Whether you prefer frontline tanks, control mages, ranged casters, or stealthy assassins, every pirate brings their own personality, backstory, and unique abilities to the fight.

Whether you're a strategic mastermind, a fearless brawler, or something in between, Golden Tides is designed to be played your way. Pick your fights carefully, or avoid them altogether. Farm PvE mobs to power up at your own pace, or go full aggression and hunt down enemy crews for high-risk, high-reward dominance. Every match offers multiple paths to victory, so play smart, play bold, or play dirty. The sea doesn’t judge, but it does remember.

Golden Tides is built by Psychedelic Games, a global crew with deep roots in MOBAs, competitive gaming, and top-tier storytelling. Our team includes veterans behind some of the biggest online games in the world, and now we’re channeling that experience into something bold, fresh, and unforgettable.

Four New Heroes, A Rebuilt Game, And What We’ve Been Working On

Hey gang,It’s been a while since our last playtest, and we know people have been waiting to hear what’s going on.For the past few months, we’ve been pretty heads-down. A lot was changing at once, and vague “things are moving along” updates didn’t feel worth posting until we had something real to show.So here’s the real update. Why We Rebuilt So MuchThere was a version of Golden Tides we could have put in front of players months ago. After spending more time with it, and after going through the feedback from earlier builds, the team felt pretty strongly that it needed more work. Those early builds taught us a lot. Some parts were working, some were close, and some clearly needed to change. Players gave us a better picture of what was confusing, what felt good, what still had friction, and where the game wasn’t fully living up to what it wanted to be.So we went back through huge parts of the game and rebuilt them around what Golden Tides has become. The next build should feel different from the one many of you played before. New content is part of that, of course, but a lot of the work has been deeper than adding more stuff. The systems are cleaner, the feedback is better, there’s less friction, and the foundation is much stronger for everything we want to build next. The UI Is NewOne of the first things you’ll notice is the UI.The login screen, main menu, hero select, in-game UI, and shop have all been rebuilt. The old UI had real problems: some things were too hard to read, important information could get buried, and the shop and build screens weren’t as easy to use as they needed to be during an actual match. That mattered because Golden Tides already asks you to track a lot. You’re thinking about your hero, talents, items, ship, enemy crew, map, objective, boss, route back to your ship, and probably some pirate trying to ruin your day from off-screen.The UI needs to make all of that easier to understand. That’s what this pass is about.Combat Got A Big Pass TooCombat ha...

How You Get Stronger in Golden Tides

Hey pirates,we've been heads down on some major system changes, and this one's a big deal. Today we're talking about how you actually get stronger during a match, and why we tore it all down and rebuilt it from scratch. Let's get into it.Why We Rethought ThisHere's something that happens in pretty much every MOBA. You queue up, you load in, and before you've even moved your character you already know exactly what you're buying. Maybe you looked it up. Maybe a plugin told you. Maybe you just memorized it three seasons ago and never changed. And look, that's not a bad thing on its own. Those games are great. But it does mean that for a huge number of players, one of the core systems in the game isn't really a system they engage with.We kept coming back to this question: what if your build actually responded to the match you're playing, even if you aren’t a challenger Nunu OTP? Not the match you theorycrafted for last night, but the one happening right now. The one where the enemy team is running double frontline and your usual plan isn't going to cut it.That's what we built toward. The ApproachWe broke progression into layers. Each one gives you a different kind of decision at a different point in the match, and none of them require you to have a spreadsheet open in your second monitor. The goal was simple. Every choice should feel like a real choice, not a solved problem. And you should be reacting to what's happening in your game, not following a script. Here's how the layers work.Talents: Your Hero Evolves With YouAs you level up during a match, you unlock Talents. These are hero-specific choices that change how your abilities actually work. This isn't "your numbers get bigger." This is "your ability does something fundamentally different now."Every hero has a talent tree with real branching decisions. You pick one talent per tier, and those choices stick for the rest of the match. Do you want Ashar Sharp's movement speed passive to apply to his allies too? Do you want ...

    Building for the Long Haul

What We're Up To: Building for the Long HaulHey everyone,We've been pretty heads-down lately, and I wanted to give you a window into what we're actually working on right now and, more importantly, why.The Last Three YearsFor the past three years, we've been building Golden Tides at breakneck speed. We've tested dozens of systems, broken just as many, iterated constantly, and learned a ton. That whole process was intentional. We built our architecture specifically to let us move fast, try things, and figure out what actually makes Golden Tides special. It worked. Through all that experimentation, we found something we really love. We know what this game is now. We know what makes matches feel incredible, what systems click with players, and what kind of experience we're building. The ShiftSo here's where we're at: we've moved from the "figure it out" phase to the "build it right" phase. What does that actually mean? We're going back through our systems and rebuilding them. They weren't broken. We just know exactly what they need to be now. It's the difference between sketching something out quickly to see if it works versus actually painting the final piece. Our original architecture was designed for rapid iteration. That was the right call then. But now our priorities have shifted. We're focused on polish, yes, but also on building a codebase that lets us expand efficiently and add content at the pace this game deserves. Here's the thing about moving fast: you make trade-offs. When we were testing systems, the question was "does this work?" not "does this feel perfect?" That was correct. You don't spend weeks polishing something you might throw out next month. But now? Now we get to make everything feel as good as possible. We're talking about the little things that add up to game feel. Ability responsiveness. Animation polish. The way inputs register. How feedback loops communicate to players. All the micro-interactions that make a game feel tight versus floaty, snappy ve...
