A wild adventure!

An unexpected phone call baffles Widijou's Short Films team: the mayor demands that they stop a colorful clone plague of themselves, or they will lose the grant they make a living from.

They have no choice but to fight their way through to discover the mystery: Who’s behind this? And… why?

Seriously, why? It seems like a really stupid plan.

Let's start kicking ass!

    Second September Update!

Here we go again!Another update, bringing a whole bunch of additions and fixes. This one took longer than I would have liked, as I've been dealing with a terrible flu for almost a week. In fact, after this update I'll be taking a few days off, because I still haven't fully recovered. But the interesting thing is that I think the game is now in a pretty stable and polished state, which means I can finally start focusing on adding new content. Great! I suppose I'll start bringing in the remaining characters one by one while I finish up the missing music. For now, let's see what's coming in this update:CharactersCharacter versions synchronizedFor technical reasons, Thumps & Blows uses different character versions for each language. Keeping all of them identical and up to date can be quite a headache.I noticed that some improvements and changes to certain characters had slipped through the cracks, so I decided to synchronize all the versions just to be safe. There shouldn't be any differences between them now.Character AI fixThe enemy AI in Thumps & Blows uses the "Random" variable to decide whether or not to perform a move. The thing is, when I switched from the old engine, MUGEN, to the current one, IKEMEN Go, for some reason the AI became more passive and stupid. I spent a long time wondering why, but I couldn't find an answer.Well, as with everything in programming, it turned out to be something stupid. Apparently, IKEMEN Go, at least in the version I'm using, can sometimes mistake "Random" with a custom variable when it's capitalized. So after changing all the variable entries to "random", the AI suddenly got much better. This might explain why some characters were more challenging than others. You should notice improvements in the AI now, but I'll keep tweaking and testing it.Fixing the fixIt turns out that when I gave Bruno a new standing heavy kick and turned his old one into his crouching light kick, I didn't properly update the parameters, so the move couldn't actu...

    First September update!

Hello again! Here we go with another mini-update.I released one on Sunday, but it was so small that I didn't even write any patch notes for it. I've been making more changes over the last few days, but I couldn't figure out how to get along with the Steam website when trying to upload them, so I had to learn how to use the infamous STEAMPIPE (shudders).Anyway, here there are finally some interesting new things to talk about. Let's get to it!CharactersAnimation fixes and changesSome animations for certain moves and characters have been fixed. They were simply animations that still needed to be implemented. The most notable changes are for Jack, whose crouching heavy kick now looks more natural and works a little differently, and Bruno, whose heavy kick has been completely changed. It's now a powerful forward karate kick. His old heavy kick has been turned into his crouching light kick. I never really liked the old kick that much, it didn't make a lot of sense.Added missing sounds and voice linesThe following characters have received some missing sounds:Egguy: Chicken sounds / Engine sounds for his propellers / Specific sounds for his egg costumeCronchman: Sounds for his lightning bolts / Various sounds for his final techniqueJack: Scooter sounds / Sounds for the Hard Music techniqueAs you can see, I try to pay a lot of attention to the sound design, as I believe it's essential for a satisfying experience in fighting games.Voice localizationAs you probably know, the game has a full Spanish voice-over, but it would be a bit strange to be playing in Chinese, for example, and suddenly have someone shout "¡Toma esa!". Unless, for some reason, that character was supposed to be the only one who speaks Spanish or something like that. That's why the more neutral audio clips have been kept for all languages, while the Spanish phrases will only be heard in the Spanish version. Some phrases remain in Galician because they also work there. This was something I wanted to have done fro...

    First Patch

Hi there! Here we go with the first patch! This one comes with several visual and audio fixes.Just a reminder: the goal of the first few patches will be to polish and fix the game's existing content to ensure the best possible experience with the current version of the game.I won't be releasing updates after reaching specific goals. Instead, I'll release them from time to time whenever I feel like I have something significant to add or fix. After that, I'll start introducing the new content that I didn't manage to include in the initial release.Let's go!Main Menu FixesWhen using certain game languages, for some reason the big "DEMO" label was still showing up, as if this were still the demo version. I swear I had removed it, but apparently it has a life of its own. Also, in every version, the bottom bar was showing "Demo V.1.1", which was the latest version of the demo. This has now been changed to "V.0.?", because I have absolutely no idea what version we're on.Character Selection Menu FixesSome of the character stat boxes were not displaying correctly, or weren't appearing at all, when certain languages were selected. Hopefully, this is fixed now.The whole issue of which characters are available was causing quite a bit of confusion, so I've added the following icons to hopefully make things clearer for players.Just in case you need a reminder: you can unlock them by completing Arcade Mode, or, if you are so impatient, you can edit the Stats.json file with a text editor and change the "Clear" parameter under Arcade Mode to 5. The file can be found in the "Saves" folder. There are also three characters that won't be available for now, as they need more work.Stage MusicWhile the final music for some stages are still in work in progress, the music for some stages has been temporarily replaced with the main theme or the minigame music.General CleanupWhile working on these fixes, I discovered that I had several unnecessarily duplicated files, as well as quite a few obsolete...

Thumps & Blows is here but not in it's best shape

WELLI don't really know where to start. Today is a bittersweet day. What better way to do it than with a reference to The Simpsons?Thumps & Blows is out todayThat's good! It's still not 100% finishedThat's bad...You'll be able to go all out with 7 charactersThat's good! You have to unlock them, and 3 characters are still unfinishedCan I play Thumps & Blows now? What do you get to enjoy in Thumps & Blows?7 awesome charactersBesides the characters from the demo, you'll be able to play as Cronchman, Jack, and Bruno.Alex, Iago, and Towelman still need some work, but I'll be adding them as soon as I can.Awesome musicNot all the music is finished yet, but you've got a few really cool tracks to enjoy.Story ModeWhat will happen to these little stick figures? You'll have to unlock Weirdo, Cronchman, and Egguy by completing the Story Mode. But if you can't be bothered, you can unlock them by editing the arcade wins value in Save -> Stats.json. You can edit it with a simple text editor. This is just a measure to prevent you from spoiling the story for yourselves.Random buttonYou've been bugging me about this for long enough. There you go. If the game breaks now, that's your problem.Everything from the demoAnd what about what's left?Well, it'll come along as I can get to it.First, I'll try to stabilize and polish the current version, and then I'll start adding everything that's still missing. I also need to sort out the credits properly, because right now they're a complete mess. You can check them in the game files under Docs -> Credits. Most importantly, I need to finish balancing and polishing the characters, make the Linux version run properly on Steam Deck and Steam Machine, and finish the music tracks. Finally, I'd like to add some extra content. I have a list of ideas for minigames I'd like to add, but that's not really a priority. I'll try to squeeze in at least a couple more. I also have ideas for new mechanics and other characters, but we'll see about that. That said, I'm exh...
