Couch Co-Op Demo Update!
Hello woodland explorers!A little something about myself: I've always loved and wanted to make co-op games. However, I planned Harmonicord as a single-player game so my first game would be a simpler project. But as it evolved, it seemed obvious to me that 2-player co-op would be a great fit. So I happily present you Harmonicord as a new cooperative experience! That's far from the only thing in this update. Another addition is a must-have for any adventure; a map that fills in with the new areas you explore! I also spent a lot of time polishing the look and feel of the game, like adding decorations, animations, and controller rumble, to name a few things. Finally, I worked on improving user experience, like adding re-bindable controls and button icons for PlayStation, Nintendo, and Steam controllers.Patch NotesAdded Couch Co-Op supporting keyboard+mouse with one controller, or two controllers.Added a map that shows each new area and secret as you find it.Added decorations like animated grass and new ground tiles.Added re-bindable controls for keyboard and controllers.Added PlayStation, Nintendo, and Steam controller layouts.Added controller rumble (and option to turn it off).Overhauled music-playing minigame.Removed color codes from puzzle elements and instead move the camera to show what controls are doing off-screen.New saved game selection buttons that display more useful and interesting information.Stop player from dropping objects behind them if something is already in front of them, and instead show an indicator of the placement being invalid.Added options for enabling/disabling input prompts, HUD, and screen shake.Reworked speech bubbles to allow players to skip text appearing one character at a time.Save icon is more visible.Throwing aim now defaults to in front of player instead of straight up when using a controller.Removed an area (for now) so co-op can be introduced sooner in the game.New Animations/EffectsMotion trails.Unique particles for each area like ...Read full article on Community Announcements (imperialpandagames)Patch NotesOfficial
First Demo Update!
It's crazy that it's already been 2 months since the demo released. Time has really flown, but I've been busy with improvements for the game! One of the biggest things lacking from the demo (and the playtest) was a single convenient method for submitting feedback and bug reports. Using Discord, Google Forms, and Steam for feedback was starting to hurt my brain.😵💫 So, I replaced these links with a single in-game form, allowing players to write feedback and take gameplay screenshots on the fly, all without leaving Harmonicord! In addition, the demo needed some fine-tuning, mainly the behavior of some gates and of the lasso, which had some pretty frustrating interactions with the physics of the game. I feel the game is in a much better state now, and I'm ready to move forward with new content! Here's a full list of changes if you'd like to see the nitty-gritty details (small spoilers ahead).Added a feedback form to send me reports directly from in-game.Puzzle gates now indicate when they are completely deactivated and must be manually disengaged instead of disappearing when the player approaches.Lassoed objects no longer run into things (except for specific walls); if the player can target an object, the player can yank it to themselves.Added "Borderless" display option to help with Windows jankiness sometimes preventing screenshots and recording.Studio logo now shows on startup.Added visual effects to more effectively show which buttons and levers affect which gates.Player no longer falls through platforms when lassoing objects.NPC dialog response options are no longer dark when hovered over and light when not; now, it's the other way around.Adjusted a couple of puzzles to be more player-friendly.Fixed a couple small issues with the title screen art.Quick-reloading during Theo's introduction no longer breaks the game.Rope bridges look less like drop-through platforms.Lasso target indicator no longer points to blocked lasso anchors. The maximum throw distance now matches ...Read full article on Community Announcements (imperialpandagames)AnnouncementsOfficial

Playtest Launch
Join the Discord to give feedback on the playtest and follow the development of the game! https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/6257adef93867e50d84d30e2/66e3d74e9607e61eeec9c91b_Logo.svg Or email @imperialpandagames@gmail.com! What’s New • New color palette and background. • New ground tile set to allow much more flexibility in level design. • New Camera system that shows more of the game world, moves smoother, and can dynamically adapt to different areas. • New render system to allow Harmonicord to adapt to different screen sizes without looking blurry or stretched. • New UI system to provide a consistent user experience across all screen sizes. • Game window can be switched between windows and full screen on the fly. • New platforms Finn can pass upward and downward through. • LOTS of other behind-the-scenes changes to improve both development and gameplay experiences. Changes • Added new default option that makes aiming with a controller persistent, so the player can set a throw arc and leave it without needing to hold the right thumb stick. • Lasso hooks are no longer solid; instead, yanking the lasso while attached to a hook launches Finn past the hook. • Objects no longer land on Finn’s head; instead, he catches them. Watch out though! If it’s too heavy, he’ll be squished! Bug Fixes • Throwing and retracting lasso simultaneously no longer crashes the game. • Game no longer crashes when pressing Windows + Shift + S • Game no longer freezes when picking something up while an object is sitting on the Finn’s head. • Objects that are too heavy to lift can no longer be pushed around.Read full article on Community Announcements (Imperial Panda)
