Strategize your defense against a relentless enemy invasion in Empyrean Defense, an indie strategy game where you build and upgrade defenses. Gather resources directly on the battlefield and unlock powerful abilities to survive until 2026.

About this game

The battle for the Empyrean Realm has begun. A ruthless enemy commander has launched a full scale invasion, searching for the Empyreal Core, an ancient secret technology hidden deep within the realm. As the last line of defense, you must deploy, upgrade, and adapt a wide array of military, economic, and support sites to survive increasingly intense enemy assaults.

Empyrean Defense is fast paced, challenging, and deeply strategic. Success depends on quick decision making, smart positioning, and long term planning as enemy pressure escalates.

Play your way. Empyrean Defense features full mouse & keyboard and controller support, including a great experience on Steam Deck.

Strategic Tower Defense with Modern Military Warfare

Command a variety of defensive and support structures, from sniper towers and missile launchers to research centers and power plants. Each site plays a vital role in your defense:

  • Military: Engage enemies directly with a mix of classic and advanced structures

  • Economic: Generate valuable resources to fund expansion and upgrades

  • Power: Maintain an energy grid to support advanced infrastructure

  • Support: Research new technologies that enhance and specialize your defenses

Upgrade, Defend, Control

  • Customizable Sites: Upgrade and modify key components to adapt to any battlefield

  • Diverse Enemy Waves: Face ground, naval, and airborne units, including powerful bosses

  • Player Abilities: Call in airstrikes, deploy protective bubble shields, and even manipulate the battlefield with lightning storms and blizzards

With 40+ skills across 4 branches in the skill tree, 20+ enemy units and bosses, 25+ sites to build and upgrade, and 15+ active abilities to learn, every decision matters and no two defenses play the same.

War Across 27 Regions

Defend forests, deserts, snowy mountains, and warn torn cities across 27 regions. Each region introduces new threats, terrain challenges, and enemy tactics that demand constant adaptation.

Story-Driven Campaign

Follow a progressing campaign featuring four core characters who provide tactical guidance and battlefield banter as the conflict unfolds. This war is about more than survival. It is about stopping the enemy commander before he unlocks the power of the Empyreal Core.

Can you keep up, adapt under pressure, and prevent the realm’s secrets from falling into enemy hands?

Highpoint Station, Assassinate Ability, Phase Disruptor & More

Greetings, Commanders! A new challenge has arrived. Empyrean Defense has been updated with an entirely new mission: Highpoint Station. High above the frozen valleys, General Zharos has launched an all out aerial assault against a vital radar network.Mission Overview: Highpoint Station takes the battle into a snow covered mountain range where three radar installations provide critical early warning against enemy air attacks. General Zharos has deployed aircraft from multiple directions in an attempt to destroy the network and blind the surrounding regions. All three radar installations must survive. If even one is destroyed, the mission is lost. With no ground forces approaching, your defenses must be built entirely around controlling the skies. Tactical Intel:Protect the Network: Three radar installations are positioned across separate mountain peaks. Divide your defenses carefully and keep every installation operational.Airborne Assault: Highpoint Station features an entirely airborne enemy force. Flak Cannons, Missile Launcher Sites, and other anti-air defenses will be essential from the opening wave.New Enemy - Tactical Support Jet: This heavily armored aircraft is equipped with a powerful forward-mounted rotary cannon. Its durability allows it to draw defensive fire while other aircraft advance behind it.Multiple Approaches: Enemy aircraft will converge on the radar network from different directions. A strong defense around one installation may leave another dangerously exposed.Emergency Repairs: Make sure to equip the Repair ability before the mission to restore damaged radar installations during the assault. ✨ New FeaturesAdded Highpoint Station, an entirely new campaign mission set high in the snowy mountainsAdded the Tactical Support Jet, a heavily armored enemy aircraft equipped with a forward-mounted rotary cannonAdded the Assassinate ability, a Tier II single target attack that instantly eliminates an enemy (excluding high value targets)Added the Bounty C...
