Let’s jump right in! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/31a686fab46cb8b682921bbf7cd6d5cd6cdf3d55.png There are 7 playable classes in the game: Assault Breach Warden Renegade Assault (Gunner) Breach (Gunner) Warden (Gunner) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/686a2e717751e9fdbd9112c1685e81431dc30281.png Each class features unique weapons, abilities, and equipment designed to suit different combat styles. Every operator also comes with their own lore and background, revealing more about who they were before joining the DAZ-Tech Special Forces Unit. Every player class represents a member of the Special Forces Police Unit — an elite division of officers enhanced with cybernetic augmentations and specialized weapon systems designed for high-risk operations. Assault Primary Weapon: Assault rifle with wrist-mounted grenade launcher Role: Balanced frontline operator Stats: Moderate damage, high fire rate, balanced health and shields Equipment: Fragmentation grenades for finishing off groups or weakening heavy targets Ability: Deploys a temporary shield buff to absorb incoming damage when under pressure Overview: The Assault class is the standard starting role — reliable and balanced across all combat conditions, designed to perform consistently under fire. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/cf89c71d2246c79c3f84ebbfa08b5093285e00ea.png Breach Primary Weapon: Triple-barreled shotgun Role: Close-quarters combat specialist Stats: Extremely high short-range damage, low fire rate and accuracy, high health but low shields Equipment: Stun grenade for crowd control and suppression Ability: Temporarily doubles fire rate, unleashing a burst capable of clearing multiple enemies Overview: The Breach class excels in short-range devastation. Steam Next Fest Devlog
Hey there! In today’s devlog, we want to share some of our thoughts and feelings about Steam Next Fest, which we are taking part in. Everything has a story behind it, and we hope this Devlog will give you insight into our creative process. Let’s jump right in! We are excited about the opportunity to let players get their hands on the game and try it out for themselves. And we think Steam Next Fest is an Excellent opportunity to do just that. See people's reactions and collect feedback. We created Neon Overdrive as a creative outlet and as an experiment to blend some of our favorite game genres, such as VR gameplay with a roguelike-like progression and game loop. We are currently in the final stages of development, making major optimization and balance passes to the game to create a smooth, bug-free, worthwhile experience. For our Demo, we have a condensed gameloop where players can try out our Assault Class, fight the Mech Boss, battle through about 3 floors of enemies, and engage in some build crafting with a select number of our perks available in the demo. Just enough to give you a good feel for the experience, yet still leave you wanting more. The full game features a longer loop with over 14 enemy types, 4 unique bosses, 5 times as many floors and variants to fight through, and 7 unique classes to unlock with their own weapons, abilities, and equipment, and even more perks to build with. Thank you to anyone following our journey so far. We appreciate all the support and feedback you've shared with the team. We hope you love the game as much as we have loved putting it together! We are also excited to announce that we have begun the process of porting the game to Meta Quest devices, so please follow our socials for more updates, and we hope to see you guys fending off hordes of Exo-Bots on Launch Day!~The Neon Overdrive TeamRead full article on Community Announcements (EL TOSHO)AnnouncementsOfficial
Devlog: Inspiration for the game
Hello Special Forces Operators! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/6256db5ca4dbf628356b12481ca0e4df5601d4ca.png In today’s devlog, we'd like to share some of our inspirations for the game. Everything has a story behind it, and we hope this Devlog will give you insight into our creative process. Let’s jump right in! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/570d16772410d6782cdf68051905d1f33deca490.gif We loved Far Cry Blood Dragon, and we were disappointed we never got to see Ubisoft do more with the IP, so we took the premise of a throwback 80s’ shooter and thought it would make a great VR arcade game. 80s and arcade culture mixed well, and the game eventually expanded beyond the scope of an arcade game to a full-blown VR standalone game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/0a2fc1585e98c59afff1ae1df285ab30344191aa.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/4cd8cfa1e031a2a73c896bc295db0873dbfa3772.gif We take heavy inspiration for our Rogue-like mechanics, such as our Perk and Class Systems, from one of the best games in the genre, Risk of Rain. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/8d2ae9a4c444d1d5dcafd02d12f3b8aa0c3fa06b.png Since we were working in VR, we couldn't have a traditional playable character roster. Like you see with all the colorful characters in Risk of Rain. So we treated each weapon as its own character, and that's how we came upon the Special Forces classes. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/56e5a1b30c7a75002748873c1c74e032995bfabf.png Our Enemies in the game started life as gameplay functions. Later on, we built out a look and backstory that matched their gameplay. The idea is that underneath each one of our enemies' armor and gear, they are all Exo-Bots. If a company were to mass-produce a series of robots, it'd use the same base and build up for each special role. This also streamlined the modeling processes since they all used the same base body mesh. Our skeletons share elements from Ultron, The T-800 from Terminator, Love, Death, Robots, among others. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45531909/363f8390716f232adba...Read full article on Community Announcements (Rouler)
