Dive into Gravethorn, a 2026 indie adventure where you play an amnesiac Inquisitor navigating soul-charged levels to uncover your forgotten history.

About this game

Gravethorn is set in a city slowly being overtaken by a living curse.

Roots spread beneath the ground and through human flesh, binding the land, the church, and its people to a cycle of decay. The faith meant to contain the curse has long since begun to rot.

You play as an Inquisitor tasked with confronting what remains. Not to save the world, but to understand what went wrong, and decide how far you are willing to go.

Explore a non-linear, interconnected world of decaying chapels, haunted forests, and ruined strongholds. Paths overlap, shortcuts reveal themselves over time, and the land quietly records the damage left behind.

Brutal, Adaptive Combat

Fights emphasize timing, positioning, and commitment. Enemies are dangerous, and recovery is limited. Progress comes from learning patterns and respecting the space you are given.

Adapt your approach as encounters unfold. Patience and restraint matter as much as aggression. Openings must be earned.

Build Your Inquisitor

Discover trinkets, sigils, and remnants tied to the curse itself. Equipment and passive effects allow you to shape your Inquisitor without locking you into a single style.

Power is gained gradually, often at a cost.

A World Shaped by Loss

Throughout your journey, you will encounter individuals shaped by faith, fear, and regret. Their stories are fragmented, often contradictory, and never fully explained.

Lore is uncovered through observation, environment, and implication rather than direct exposition.

Relentless Boss Fights

Boss fights serve as major turning points, each reflecting a different aspect of the curse and the institution that failed to contain it.

Defeating them does not bring relief. It only allows you to move forward.

Gravethorn is a game about persistence, consequence, and the quiet weight of unfinished penance.

    Development Update

Greetings! It has been a while since my last update here, so first of all: I'm still here, and I've been working on something new.Since around April–May, I’ve been developing my next game.I’m not ready to reveal its title or story yet, but I can share a little about the direction.Unlike my previous projects, this is not a Metroidvania or an action-focused game. It is a narrative-driven adventure centered around characters, dialogue, choices, and consequences. The game is still in early development, and many of its assets are currently in production. For this project, I’m also working with several other creators, including a pixel artist, UI/UX artist, composer, character designer, 2D animator, and a voice actor for the trailer narration. Here are a few early glimpses from the project: And some of the pixel art characters currently in development:I don’t want to announce the game properly until there is enough finished material to represent it well.My current plan is to reveal the game and release a playable demo toward the end of this year.If development stays on track, I’m also aiming for the February Steam Next Fest, with the full release following not too long afterward. These are still targets rather than fixed dates. For now, I mainly wanted to break the silence and show a small part of what I’ve been working on.There will be much more to share later this year. Until then, do take care! -Mirac

Version 1.021 Update – New Game+ Balance / Nightborne Fix

Greetings! This is a small balance patch focused on New Game+ (Nightmare Mode).Enemy health and damage have been significantly reduced. Nightmare Mode ended up being far more punishing than intended. The goal was to recreate a sense of challenge for a second playthrough, but it went too far. This update pulls things back, especially for Nightmare I.As a result, New Game+ runs should now feel much more manageable for players who want to revisit the story or complete content they may have missed.Additional Update (Build 260426)Fixed an issue where the Nightborne ability could cause problems with the player’s Max HP.Adjusted how Nightborne works: it no longer limits Max HP. Instead, it now uses your current Max HP and increases the damage taken while controlling the shadow. This change prevents cases where Max HP could become incorrectly locked. If you were affected by this issue, it should be resolved upon reloading the game.Additional Update (Build 260426.02)Added Sword Damage and Ranged Damage stats to the right panel in the inventory screen.Active Trinket effects are now displayed under the health bar, similar to Sigil effects.Increased the raw sword damage bonus granted by Strength Elixir.Weeping Thorn now activates its damage reduction at 40% HP (previously 25%).Increased the raw ranged damage bonus of Dirge of Hollow Winds.Reduced the damage of crouching attacks. (I see you, Jhon.)Additional Update (Build 270426)Fixed an issue where, in some languages, the 4th button in The Merchant menu (Leave option) was not visible.Fixed incorrect text rendering in the Brazilian Portuguese localization, where "

    Version 1.02 Update

Greetings, Inquisitors!I’m back with a small update I’ve been working on for a while. During this time, I had the chance to connect with many of you and go through your feedback.I watched gameplay, gathered insights, and focused on improving the overall experience, addressing common issues, and adding a few requested features.Consumables you don’t need can now be sold to The Merchant.During exploration, uncollected items are now marked on the map with a small question mark. If nothing remains in that room, the marker disappears, making backtracking clearer and more intentional. If your gold drops to zero or below a certain threshold, The Sister will now offer assistance.Rotborn mutation bonuses have been increased.Fixed an issue where skipping a Chapel visit after sending Liliane there could cause you to miss her dialogue and reward. You will now receive her Trinket during your first Chapel interaction, even if the initial conversation was missed.Added missing red barrier indicators on the map:Harbor region (room below Lantern’s End)Dreadmoore region (room below Blake’s Clinic)Fixed issues with vertical camera tracking in:The MurkwayAshenheart ForestCrimson BastionFixed an issue where curing the “No Remnant on Death” Suffering did not remove its effect.Fixed an issue where Wraithstone was not functioning properly in the Lamenting Hermitage, along with a similar fast travel menu issue in that region.Reading the blue torch warning sign before the final boss now adds an additional note to the map.Updated the map note for the cat puzzle in Ashenheart Forest:“Clues must be around” → “Clues must be around the forest.”Some reward chests that blended into the background have been recolored to light blue for better visibility.Fixed an issue where a specific dialogue variant with The Sister could cause the game to freeze.Fixed an issue where starting a new game would incorrectly begin with the player at full HP.Reduced enemy attack damage in New Game+ (Nightmare Mode).Addition...

    Version 1.01 Update - New Game+

New Game+ After reaching the credits scene, you may now choose “Forget Once More” to begin the story again. Your Memory level, Mutations and quest progress will reset. Key items will be removed, except for The Exile's Bell, and you will restart the story with your current character. The difficulty increases to Nightmare and continues scaling with each completed cycle. In Nightmare difficulty, enemies have increased health and deal more damage. If you obtain trinkets, sigils, or similar items that you already own, they will be converted into a Small Coin Purse instead.Additionally, challenging enemies are introduced into early-game areas in Nightmare mode. You will need to approach these regions with far greater caution.(Please note that New Game+ may currently contain issues such as duplicate items or balance inconsistencies. I have not yet had the opportunity to fully test and polish this mode. When possible, I plan to refine it further and add exclusive content tailored specifically for New Game+.) New ConsumablesAn item that instantly grants ammoAn item that instantly grants Hellfire BottlesAn item that restores a small amount of healthAn item that temporarily enhances ranged attacksThese items have been distributed throughout the early stages of the game to better support players at the beginning of the story. Changes & Fixes:You can now see which room your Remnant is located in on the map after dying. (If you’re already Fractured, Remnant location won’t show until you die after this update. The system will work correctly for any deaths occurring after this update.)Added zoom in and zoom out functionality to the map. Zooming out far enough will reveal region names such as Ravenbell, The Murkway, Dreadmoore etc.Consumable use animations now finish faster.Added additional Bloodstones across various regions.Adjusted the Ascendant Art bonus of “Shade of Retribution.” It can now reach a maximum of 50.Increased the ranged damage gained from the active effect of Forbidd...
