Embark on a tense co-op journey through Hesperides Station's corridors as part of Crew: Expendable. Navigate social deduction and horror elements while either working together to complete assignments or playing the role of Oroboros StarCorp's pawn in betrayal.
About this game
Crew: Expendable is an up to 7-player co-op game with social deduction/betrayal and extraction elements. You are a member of a space engineering team independently contracted by the pharma-colonial conglomerate Oroboros, who must travel to the recently abandoned Hesperides Station to discover what led to its breakdown and the disappearance of all staff.

A Silicon Alien Lifeform (S.A.L.) prowls the halls of Hesperides. This lethal entity will stalk and hunt down anyone it comes across, and is seemingly impervious to conventional attacks. As you and your team complete assignments and cash in salvage across the station, you must evade this creature's claws by hiding, finding tools to stave it off, and working together. Perhaps you can even find a way to kill it before it kills you.

The Silicon Alien Lifeform is not the only danger in the game. One member of your team is on a secret assignment from Oroboros to not only ensure the survival of the alien, but to make sure they are the only one left to return alive from Hesperides Station. The Corp Agent will covertly work to sabotage the team's efforts on the station while completing classified assignments of their own to improve their chances of survival.

Teamwork and vigilance are key to making it back home alive. Collaborate on assignments to change the station in useful ways and unlock new rooms and tools that will help keep the Silicon Alien Lifeform from killing you. Discover a means to stop it once and for all, but never forget the human beside you might be the one to throw you to the claws for a paycheck bonus.

Devlog #2 | Core Mechanics
Greetings everyone. Lex here again. Today, I'm going to run through the Core Mechanics of the game, so you have a sense of what to expect when you and your friends are playing the game (and trying not to kill each other in irl), as well as a bit of in game Lore to have some context. The World of Crew: ExpendableCrew:Expendable takes place in the year 2226. Humanity has taken to the stars (as they often do in sci-fi stories) after discovering an F.T.L method involving tachyons. The culture of Earth is more or less the way it was around 2015. Humanity is essentially doing "Ok". Capitalism continue as the de-facto economic and governmental standard of Earth and all its countries. One of the major corporations that is in the race for top dog is Oroboros Star Conglomerate. Oroboros is a catch all technology company that is notorious for its innovation with little regard for rules, regulations, or people. One of its many research outposts is Hesperides Station. Originally planned to be a mining colony on a resource rich moon, Initial digging discovered an Alien life form that defied all currently understood biological principles. The creature was an amalgamation of different classification, being part pseudo-colony, as well as a siphonophore, and a super-organism. All the organisms were not carbon-based, but silicon. Oroboros quickly pivoted and had the station turned into a focused research outpost. The Silicon Alien Life-form, or S.A.L. as the egg heads coined, was found in a calcium carbonate casing only 20 feet below the surface. Once the scientists got involved, the Alien became active and the research began. Initially skittish, S.A.L. showed to be curious and driven by instinct, but not particularly intelligent. However, over time, it became extremely aggressive and dangerous enough to make the researches attempt to put it on Ice for further study. The attempt fails, which leads to the crew being hired to investigate. The Crew and the ProxyYou and your crew are a res...Read full article on Community Announcements (LifeStreamLex)Patch NotesOfficial
Alpha Patch notes update
Greetings everyone. Lex here! I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the current build of the game and what you can expect moving forward as we work on the development build of the game. Where we currently areAs of right now, our latest internal build is Alpha 0.8.7. I was doing my best to keep to a standardized patch numbering convention, but over time it felt like the numbers were being arbitrarily assigned, so the group sat down and we're starting from scratch, which works out because we are also currently migrating the game to a newer engine version. Unreal Engine 5As some of you may or may not know, Unreal Engine is a fantastic tool, but it has its, quirks. Firstly, especially when it comes to multiplayer games, it does not like being upgraded to a newer version without a tremendous amount of work. We are currently in 5.5.4, but the project has gotten very messy (mostly due to the early days when we were still new to this). We looked at the newer versions and determined to go with Unreal Engine 5.6.1. Because the early code was so messy, we decided to recreate all the systems in a fresh build to ensure the game is running optimally and to be much easier to read moving forward (as well as a much better file system). Current plan and the futureWhile migrating/rebuilding the project files, I will be doing large pushes to our internal repository and simply name them Migration #x. Once the migration is complete, we will be resetting the conventional Patch notes numeration and start at Alpha 0.5.0. Not to say we're only half done with the alpha build (we're a fair bit further than that) but because, I'm a sucker for patterns, alright ːsteamhappyː. I will be pumping out Migration Patch notes once large swaths have been completed, and then we will provide regular Patch Notes both here and in our Discord (link below). Now, for the Migration notes. As always, thanks for you time and we'll catch up soon! Devlog #1 | Inspiration and Early Look
Greetings everyone! Today, we wanted to peer into the past and give you an inside look at the early stages of the game. Crew:Expendable looked a fair bit different the first few months of the project (not just visually) than it does today. We also wanted to tell the story of how the project came to life in the first place. Let’s start with the backstory before diving into the technical stuff. The EpiphanyFirst, a bit of introduction. Lifestream Games is comprised of 4 core team members. Trent; Lead Artist, Fredo; Lead Music/SFX composer, Nick; Lead 3D Animator, and myself, Lex, the Lead developer. I was the one that got the ball rolling and decided I'd had enough of working a corporate job. So I reached out to each of us one by one and assembled the team together to start this journey. The four of us have been friends since high-school, so it didn’t take a lot of arm pulling to convince everyone. Believe it or not, Crew:Expendable wasn’t the first game we were working on when we started (more on that first game at another time). Back in 2024, our friends group was having our yearly October movie marathon. That year, we decided to watch all the Alien and Predator movies. At the time, we were also playing a lot of Lethal Company (shout out to Zeekerss!). During Aliens, I had the idea: What if we mixed Lethal Company, Among Us, and the core idea of the Alien movies and wrapped it all into one package? I put together a small presentation and capped it off with the title; Crew:Expendable. The name immediately stuck and we pivoted to working on it.Early MechanicsInitially, we toyed with the idea of the game being Asymmetric. The idea was that, there was some kind of alien spore that would infect a player and cause them to turn into an alien with different mechanics and would then hunt down the rest of the group. The idea of having a “traitor” or how we call it internally, “The Corpo” had always been there since day one, so the remaining group would have to deal with enemie...Read full article on Community Announcements (LifeStreamLex)AnnouncementsOfficial
Crew: Expendable Reveal/Teaser Trailer!!!
Greetings, researchers! We'd like to introduce you to our up-and-coming game, Crew:Expendable. This game has been in development for roughly 20 months now and has been a wild ride for the four of us here at Lifestream Games. But first, a little bit about us. We're 4 passionate gamers and close friends who decided we had no more excuses not to pursue our passion for games, given all the tools that are available these days, and make something that we've wanted to play for a long time now. The game has been worked on daily since its first iteration in October of 2024 and has undergone a few iterations. What you are seeing here is the first look of our game and where we're at in development and in our road map. So, what is Crew: Expendable exactly? It is a co-op (up to 7 players) Sci-Fi horror game with a bit of social deduction. You and 6 of your friends will be deployed to the recently abandoned Hesperides Station, where you will investigate what happened, gather loot, perform various tasks, all while avoiding the hyper-aggressive and cunning Synthetic Alien Lifeform (Or S.A.L. for short) on board. But SAL isn't the only threat. The evil corporation, Oroboros, which hired your team in the first place, has made a lucrative deal with one of your crew to ensure their illegal research doesn't go to waste and keep SAL alive, by any means necessary. SAL and Hesperides are only the first pairing on our roadmap. As we work on the game through Early Access, we will be releasing more Station variants, scenarios, and Threats for the crew to deal with. For now, you will have to figure out how to deal with SAL. As you work on tasks and gather salvage, SAL will roam the tunnels underneath the station and can pop up almost anywhere. Once it has its sights set on you, you will find it very difficult to get away from it. Weapons will act as a good deterrent early on in a run, but the longer you take, the more it learns and realizes that the few weapons you find on board don't pose too...Read full article on Community Announcements (LifeStreamLex)
