Explore and survive in this 2D space survival sandbox where you can play as an astronaut or the rogue AI, mining resources, building factories, and defending your ships and stations.

About this game

Galactic Prospectors is a 2D Space Survival Sandbox set 200 years in the future when all planets in the solar system were destroyed by a rogue AI (you can play as the Rogue AI, or as a regular Astronaut out in the universe). Take on the universe against rogue AIs, other humans and other life forms, all while trying to stay alive. Even as an AI if you wish to play as such, you too must survive the harsh elements of Space. Resources are still needed, requiring you to build factories, upgrade and maintain your ships and stations, and to live.

Galactic Prospectors will have the following features upon release into Early Access:

Exploration: Explore the vastness of Space. Travel to new sectors. Upgrade ships, build space stations, conquer enemies & raid abandoned and enemy POIs. It's an infinite world!

Build & Craft: Build space stations from prefabs, or fully custom stations from building blocks, buy premade ships or generate, customize and build your own blueprint ships, and other things. Craft components from resources such as ores mined from Asteroids that have been refined into Ingots.

Steam Workshop: Upload your creations to the Steam Workshop - game comes with an SDK too for more advanced modding!

Combat: Survive in this world against humans, other rogue AI, aliens and more.

Durability & Health: All ships and stations have health. This means, bullets deal damage, colliding with space junk deals damage. Repair your ships and stations using components and resources, or build drones that repair things for you!

Currency & Shop System: Buy ships, special weapons and tools, and more.

Multiplayer: A (currently experimental) multiplayer system is integrated into the game and is being worked on as the game progresses, so Multiplayer is there from the beginning!

Crew: Hire AI (Robots) or Human Crew to do things on your ships & stations. Humans need Food and Water, and morale is an important thing for both (alien astronauts coming soon)!

You can literally mold and configure your world as you wish!

Your purchase entitles you to receive all future updates free of charge!

    Galactic Prospectors: Update 1.005.003

Galactic Prospectors 1.005.003 This one is mostly about listening. A creator put out a second video on the game, played it the way a new player actually plays it, and hit a wall every few minutes: the sound cut out and stayed out, the build menu on the ship deck did nothing, the starter drill would not drill, and half the menus stacked on top of each other. Every one of those is fixed below, and while we were in there we added Steam Inventory items, made your own stations walkable, and fixed missiles in multiplayer. The game going silent is fixed If your game ever went quiet after an explosion in the distance and never came back, even after a restart, this was it. The old volume code set the Windows mixer slider for the whole game instead of the volume of one sound, so one far-off explosion could pin Galactic Prospectors at two percent in Windows itself, and Windows remembers that setting per program. Music, effects and the jukebox all went with it. Volume is applied per sound now and never touches the Windows mixer. The game checks its own Windows mixer slider on startup and after a jukebox track begins. If an earlier version left it near zero or muted, it is restored. If you turned the game down on purpose, it is left alone. The jukebox plays through a different audio path on Windows that does not have the same problem. Building on your ship deck works now Press B while walking your own deck and the build menu was, in fact, opening. It was then being painted over by the deck's own backdrop, so you saw nothing and pressed B again. The menu is drawn on top now. Enter and Escape also reach it instead of being eaten by chat and the pause menu. Click a tile to select it, click again to build there, click outside the list to close it. The palette shows what you have next to what each piece needs, per component. When a weld stalls, the message says exactly what is missing, that materials come from the ship's cargo, and where the missing part comes from: which ingots in t...

Galactic Prospectors: Update 1.004.023 - Multiplayer, QOL, Fixes, & more!

Galactic Prospectors 1.004.023 You can get out of the pilot seat now. Your ship has an inside. Not a menu, not a loading screen into some generic room: the actual floor plan of the hull you are flying, built from its own silhouette, which you can walk around while the ship is still out there in the belt. Every ship in the game has one. So does the ugly kitbashed thing you welded together last week. That is the headline, but it is not the half of it. Stations got a police force. Pirates learned to board them. And multiplayer got torn out and rebuilt. Walk around your own ship Stand up mid flight and the game does not cut away anywhere. The deck is drawn right into the world, turning with the hull, while you are still moving. Once you are down there, the deck is yours to fill. Bolt a refinery into the hold so you can process ore without docking. Put a bunk aft. Fit a cryopod amidships. It stays with the ship. The catch is that all of it can break. A hull is not just a stat line any more, it is the kit bolted to its deck, and kit takes damage. A cracked refinery is a cracked refinery until somebody welds it. You can board other players, too. Ask to come aboard and you get their deck, their fittings, the exact state of their gear. You are walking around the ship they actually built, not a stand in. Two smaller things you will notice down there: your character holds real tools now instead of the four coloured lines a rifle and a welder used to share, and there are emotes. Stations will remember what you did A trading post used to be the one safe place in the game. Nothing could go wrong. That was boring, so it is gone. Shoot a crew member and the nearest guards stop what they are doing and come for you. If they get you, the cuffs go on, you lose control of where you walk, and you get dragged to a cell. Flying off and coming back later does not help. The station writes it down and keeps it with the world. It cuts both ways. Pirates now raid friendly outposts, and the crew...

    Galactic Prospectors: Update 1.003.010

Fixed bug where cryopod would duplicate your character Fixed bug where station medbays didn't work in Multiplayer Fixed asteroid synchronization issue in Multiplayer Added safezone shield to friendly trade stations Fixed issue where RCON required both RequireSteamAuth and a RconPassword to work. Now you can do one or the other, with RequireSteamAuth being preferred and recommended as it is permission based and uses ACL method. We're also working on balancing stuff like ship building and purchasing, as well as balancing the difference between the Galactic Shop/Market and trade stations. We've also decided that updates will be weekly, every Thursday by 6 PM Mountain Time (US & Candada). Hotfixes and patches will continue from Thursday until Saturday Evenings, with the ingress of bug reports and other things reported to us by the community.
