Explore the harsh post-apocalyptic world of Cataclysm: The Last Generation, where your choices shape survival in a deep roguelike experience. Craft weapons from scavenged materials as you face evolving threats like zombies and aliens across modern-day New England.
About this game
Cataclysm: The Last Generation is a single-player turn-based post-apocalyptic survival game. Based on the all-time classic Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead, The Last Generation tells the story of a world where the dead walk, alien horrors stalk the land, and the fabric of reality as we know it has come undone. Despite all this, a few unlucky souls yet survive, and whether the last generation of humanity is destined to die off, or to become something fit to survive in this brave new world is up to you.
TLG's primary aim is to preserve Cataclysm's depth and respect for plausibility while refining what it has always done best as a game, foregrounding character progression and immersive life sim elements in a world that will put your survival skills to the test. Dig through the wreckage of shadowy government conspiracies to uncover the truth about the Cataclysm, form your own band of survivors, and adapt to the myriad threats by expanding your arsenal, installing military-grade bionics, or mutating into your own kind of monster.

Fixed most cases of kelp forests throwing errors when loading in.The mod menu's borders are back.Cleared out a ton of dead code and unusable menu options in the settlement board.Extracted new and updated strings from the game text for translators.Backported a DDA update to Sky Island which uses the new dimension system for expeditions, as well as a bunch of various fixes. Sky Island expeditions should now load almost immediately and without throwing errors or freezing like they had been!Fixed a Sky Island bug that could result in your character being buried under rubble for all eternity.Ranged attacks such as splashes that don't deal direct damage should no longer report "reflecting off the thick hide" of creatures hit by them.NPCs and monsters will now react to being shot by guns, bows, and slings even if they cannot see the attacker. For low velocity projectiles like arrows, they will have a pretty good idea where the shot came from, otherwise, they can be significantly off in their estimates depending on how far away the shooter was. As with thrown and reach attacks, zombies will often fail to react in this manner, and robots will never react. It is now possible to use fried earthworms as sandwich meat.Characters who resist status effects will now see the correct resisted values instead of the base values in the effects panel on their character sheet. The sleep mode CBM had a few places where it wasn't working properly, and it was possible for noise to get through it. This has been fixed. The base damage on pebbles and sling bullets has been reduced, but an equal buff has been applied to the ranged damage on slings. This means there is no net loss for sling users, but pebbles aren't as good to throw.Slightly buffed the range on slings and staff slings.@Federkiel submitted new sprites for Survival Island, handful of spinach, celery, oats, tongue-and-groove pliers, triclopean canine skull, bee stinger, tiny canine skull, tangram set, thermometer, bone fossil, and disc...Read full article on Community Announcements (wormywormgirl)AnnouncementsOfficial

Implemented a fix to a longstanding bug which was sometimes causing garbled text on very large displays and some multi-monitor setups. This fix changes how scaling and DPI are handled on some monitors. This change may cause text to appear smaller than you are used to! Terminal display and font settings options to change this can be found in options -> graphics.Eternal Season now works properly. You can set it in world gen via the advanced options menu, or you can set it at any time in-game via options -> world options. The NPC spawn timer has been re-added to the advanced options. If you're unaware, it affects how frequently random NPCs spawn in the world. It is best left alone, the numbers get pretty stupid pretty fast. It, too, can be changed mid-game in the same manner as Eternal Season.Resized the create world panel. It had a bunch of empty space in it and it looked a little odd.The mod menu is missing its top and bottom borders. This is a harmless visual issue that will be fixed in the next update.Went through every in-repo mod and fixed all the errors that were warning on load that were showing up because of changes in mainline. There may be something fiddly going on with Sky Island still. I'll try to have that fixed ASAP.Fixed the milling recipes for antlers and antler pieces.Fixed the error popup for the household washing machine.Activating a dishwasher will now place a dishwasher and not a standing lamp (???).Reduced the number of cigars in basement rec rooms.Standardized the barter value of all tobacco items. They're still valuable trade goods, but cigars aren't quite so pricey. It was possible for a specific house to sometimes generate without a roof. Now, it generates with a roof. This change is not retroactive, so just pretend a tornado caused it to blow away if you have a house like this in your save.It is no longer possible to deconstruct anesthetic kits. This is to prevent some bug abuse.Updated the way the game handles bad data in UTF8 text on Mac. Now...Read full article on Community Announcements (wormywormgirl)AnnouncementsOfficial

Many years ago, someone plopped down a faction called the Gray Moose Militia. They had no quests, no real dialogue, no story, and were never properly set up to have territory or AI, so they just stood there doing nothing. People occasionally find them and were confused. This faction, if you could call it one, has been removed.Another faction, the deserters, was never set up properly. Someone went to all the trouble to implement them and their base and then never gave them the correct AI/faction settings. The deserters have now been placed in an always-hostile faction. They have been significantly buffed in terms of bravery, aggression, skills, and stats, and set up so that they will have some notion that their base is their home and they need to protect it.These are trained soldiers with military-grade equipment. They are potentially extremely dangerous, don't expect to just waltz in there and school them if you're not well prepared!Renamed the deserter base to "office building" on the map.Made the deserter base a bit more likely to spawn.Fixed an error message that would pop up if a character died of a drug overdose.Wooden greatswords are now much heavier and lack Brutal Strike.Slightly nerfed the dodge buff in Niten Ichi-Ryu. It is now 33% of your perception, not 50%.Stopped herbal teas from incorrectly saying they are addictive. Made sure they no longer contain caffeine. It is no longer possible to spend 6 minutes attempting to eat an entire head of lettuce in one bite and ultimately failing to do so.Fixed a crash that could result from invalid data (probably via save corruption) being called on thawed corpses. This should prevent some rare crashes which I wasn't able to confirm happen outside of corrupted saves. There was a small chance for farms to be chock full of wheat. This is obviously not what is supposed to be happening, and has been fixed. You can still sometimes find wheat there, just as you can sometimes find other foods, but watch out for crows!Slightly...Read full article on Community Announcements (wormywormgirl)AnnouncementsOfficial

Characters (player or not) will now attempt to disassemble everything they can in a disassembly zone when told to do so, rather than stopping after the first item.Characters will attempt to deconstruct every part of every vehicle in a disassembly zone, rather than giving up the first time they find something they cannot do.The messaging for characters failing to complete assigned tasks is now much less confusing. I would prefer it be clearer, but the code for generating those messages is very unfriendly and hard to work with, so this will have to do for now. If an NPC seems to be done before you expected, they probably just need a tool they haven't got.Start location zones no longer appear as blank lines in the zone manager. They're irrelevant during gameplay so you don't see them at all now.Cut damage now causes the most bleeding per point of damage, followed by ballistic, followed by stab.Previously, the order was ballistic > stab > cut. While gunshot and puncture wounds can cause horrendous bleeding in real life (and in the game, it's based on damage dealt, cut just gets the strongest scaling per point of damage), they tend to create narrow wound channels which can have the effect of compressing vessels, while cutting injuries lay large areas of flesh open and have a much higher chance to hit an important vessel. Some body parts, such as the arms, legs, and especially the head, can now bleed if hit hard enough by a bash attack. Bash causes far less bleeding than the other types, so this effect is generally going to be minor unless you really get walloped.Against monsters, this is simplified but generally similar: Cut deals 100% bleed, stab and ballistic deal 75%. Bash never causes monsters to bleed, though that could be added in via the weakpoint system at a later date.Cephalopod limbs now bleed a bit less overall.Added the exterminator profession, which begins with a chemical sprayer, two tanks of insecticide, a can of bug spray, a couple bug bombs, and a van, as...Read full article on Community Announcements (wormywormgirl)AnnouncementsOfficial

The PPA-5 is now the PPA-5 plasma launcher, and it uses the launchers skill instead of rifles.Plasma guns now do heat damage instead of stab. Targets struck by these weapons are EMPed, and the PPA-5 also does a flashbang effect to anything caught in the blast.Re-described both plasma guns to make them a little more plausible, as they were nonsensical before. To match their new descriptions, these weapons now leave electricity in their wake when fired. They are very chaotic and work well to make a large area a bad place for a group of enemies to stand, rather than just being another anti-tank rocket.Added horn-tipped bolts for crossbows and an auto-learned recipe for them. These are slightly better than bolts with wooden points, but worse than metal bodkins and broadheadsMetal-tipped arrows and crossbow bolts now get a batch savings on craft time.Nonmetal crossbow bolts are now much faster to craft. The hospital that spawns for the rescue pilot's mission should now have a road connected to it.The alternate map key mod should no longer give errors when loading.Fixed an issue that was causing some items (usually earplugs) to fail to be sorted into inventory rather than worn at game start.Bionic eyes and other activate_on_install CBMs will now be turned on at game start.NPCs can now use bionic eyes.Professions can now define personality score bonuses or penalties for NPCs who have them. Currently this has only been done for the bionic sniper.Optimized some NPC decision making code.Bionic snipers now begin with a vinyl rain poncho and not a medieval cloak.Liquids in liquid-containing terrain or furniture, such as recesses or bathtubs, were for some reason specifically being excluded from the crafting inventory, meaning it was impossible to make clay items with water from a puddle unless you scooped it out into a cup first. No such restriction existed for things like ponds and streams. This has been corrected, and you can now craft using liquids more easily.Stopped double-...Read full article on Community Announcements (wormywormgirl)
