About this game

A nice dream. One where you get to choose when you wake up.

There is nothing better than a dream.

ABOUT THIS GAME

A news network called Lynx partnered with a tech company called Schema to do something that should not be possible: broadcast a person's dreams, live, as TV programming.

The first show inside the technology is a game show called Supermarket Music. It airs whether you watch or not. The host is thrilled you tuned in. The contestants don't know they're contestants. The audience doesn't know what they're really watching.

You wake up inside it.

WELCOME TO THE SHOW

Hello you crazy kids hi hello hi welcome to Supermarket Music — the show on the TV right in front of you.

It's a brand new game show. Every contestant wins. Every kid at home gets a sticker. Every tired adult gets a couch and a cartoon and twenty-two minutes where nothing has to suck.

That's our brand promise. Everybody wins. (That's also our slogan. We worked on it.)

I'm your host. I am the Family Man. It's my job to keep this family together. So get on the couch. Grab some snacks. Turn the fan on. You got it.

Show's starting in three… two…

MEET THE BAND

Today's a little different. We have a guest.

Special Feature is a journalist — capital S, capital F, that's actually her name. She's the kind of person who keeps asking questions when everyone else stops. That's why she's here.

SPECIAL FEATURE: I'm sorry — am I dreaming, or is the room talking to me?

That's Frub Bub. Wave hi, Frub.

FRUB BUB: Hi!

Frub is the show's mascot. He's a magic frog. Don't ask him about it, he gets weird about it.

FRUB BUB: I'm a frog. I do what I want.

Cool. We're all set.

WATCH WHILE YOU PLAY

Four arrows come down the screen. Up, down, left, right. You hit them with the song. You'll get it.

The song is the cartoon. Every cartoon is part of the story. They show you things — about the cast, about what's coming, about what already happened. How well you play decides how much you see. Keep up, you see more. Fall behind, you miss it.

Sometimes glitches show up — dark arrows where the colored ones should be. Don't hit those.

SPECIAL FEATURE: What are those?

Don't worry about it.

SPECIAL FEATURE: I'm worrying about it.

Keep the rhythm. Keep the show.

EVERY CHOICE MATTERS

Supermarket Music runs on the EKE — the Everybody Knows Engine. Every choice you make, somebody hears it. Depending on who knows what, songs unlock. Storylines change. Endings happen — or don't.

When it's loud you'll see it. "FRUB BUB KNOWS!" flashes in the corner. "SPECIAL FEATURE KNOWS!" Sometimes a name pops up you didn't expect.

Sometimes nothing flashes. Those are the ones that mess you up later.

So pay attention.

ARCADE MODE — JUST PLAY

If you want to skip the story and just play, that's fine. Arcade Mode is its own full game — every song, every chart, every difficulty.

Pick a VHS off the shelf. The TV flickers on. The cartoon starts. Beat charts. Chase scores. Unlock the album. Never speak to a soul if you don't want to.

The band keeps playing. The show keeps the lights on.

WHAT THE HOST WANTS YOU TO KNOW

  • 6 episodes — Arc I. About 4 hours of story. Multiple endings.

  • Arcade Mode. Every song, every chart, every difficulty.

  • A real album. The band wrote it. The band recorded it. It exists out here AND in there.

  • Every song is a cartoon. Every cartoon is a clue. How well you play decides how much you see.

  • Dark arrows. Don't hit those.

  • Full voice cast. Real people. Real performances.

  • Choices matter. The cast remembers.

  • Hand-drawn, hand-animated, VHS-texture visuals.

  • 23+ Steam Achievements.

  • Steam Cloud. Controller support. Steam Deck Playable.

Arcs II and III follow. Same world. Same cast. New problems.

Hello you crazy kids! The SuperMarket Music demo is OUT NOW!

Hello you crazy kids! And welcome — to the SuperMarket Music... demo! That's right, kids. The demo. The little piece of lovin' that hits right before the big enchilada on the moonlit night of romance and LAN parties. The appetizer! The opening act! The free sample lady at the grocery store, except she's a video game and she brought a guitar. So get on the couch. Grab some snacks. Sneak off to the bathroom now, before anybody notices, and turn the fan on. Here's what's on the tape: Episode 1, the pilot! Meet your host (me!), my super close but strictly professional co-host Special Feature, and Frub Bub, the magic frog. He does what he wants. 7 levels of rhythm, cartoons and rock and roll. Every song is its own hand-animated music video. Arcade Mode. Just the songs. Pick a tape, beat the charts, chase the high score. Choices! Consequences! A frog who seems to know things! Corrupted arrows. Don't hit those. Why? No idea! Probably nothing! Go play it! See what this whole thing looks like. It's free. No tank controls. You'll get it. Let us know if you like it! Leave a review, tell a friend, tell your group chat, yell it off a balcony. If you don't like it... don't let us know! We're not emotionally mature enough for that! We will cry. On television. And if you DO like it, smash that Wishlist button. It's the single most helpful thing you can do for the show, and you'll be the first to know when the whole thing drops. Wishlist SuperMarket Music on Steam Remember: you're always a winner. — Family Man Your host. It's my job to keep this family together. P.S. The studio audience was a little quiet during the demo. They're shy! Totally normal.
