    v1.2.0_demo Patch Notes

Hello everyone! This update brings Random Challenge and Shake to the demo, alongside new languages and interface improvements. Research Levels and Random Challenge • The demo includes 11 Research Levels. Their order changes each time you open the selection menu. • Click the colorful question mark to start Random Challenge. A randomly selected knot is shaken before you begin. • Retry restores the layout after that opening Shake. Next selects a different Research Level and starts another challenge, so you can keep playing. • Research titles now show knot names without level numbers. The last regular Research Level no longer shows Next. Shake and controls • Shake stirs the knot in three dimensions, then brings it back to the center and spreads it out. Try it when crossings are crowded or you want a different layout. • Added note-based introductions to Flip and Shake, with hand-drawn arrows and highlighting. • Action buttons fade out with a chalk-erasing animation during dragging or Shake. Move the pointer outside their area after dragging to reveal them again. • Recordings now include the entire Shake process. Existing recordings cannot gain frames that were never recorded. Stable physics mode • Stable now checks whether a Swap actually reversed the crossing and extends the action when needed. Unconfirmed attempts are rolled back and do not count as a Swap. • This applies only to Stable. Its handling differs from the other physics modes; please try it and share your feedback. • Renamed Redo Swap to Undo Swap, displayed in English in every language. Appearance, music and languages • Added Taiwan Traditional Chinese and Korean, with handwritten fonts. • Added adjustable rope and outline widths in Settings, with a live title-screen preview. • Title notes can be folded by clicking the paper itself, and remember their folded state. • Added Over and Under to the music rotation and handwritten track information in the lower-left corner. • Fixed overlapping research/settings m...

Unknot! Wins the Audience Award Semi-Grand Prix at SOWN 2026!

Unknot! Wins the Audience Award Semi-Grand Prix at SOWN 2026! We’re delighted to share that Unknot! received the Audience Award Semi-Grand Prix at Sense of Wonder Night 2026 (SOWN), held during Tokyo Game Show 2026. Unknot! began as an attempt to turn the knot theory I studied at university into a puzzle game anyone could enjoy. Receiving this recognition for my first completed and released game means a great deal to me. Thank you to everyone who played the game at TGS, watched the presentation, shared feedback, or supported Unknot! along the way. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy that satisfying moment when a knot finally comes undone! View the official SOWN 2026 results — P.F.J.

Unknot! at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026

Hello everyone! Unknot! will be playable at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 as part of SELECTED INDIE 80. TOKYO GAME SHOW 2026 • Booth: E-35 • September 17–21, 2026 For TGS, I've prepared an updated event build with new music and several improvements for shorter play sessions. Some of these additions will also come to the Steam version after the event. SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2026 Unknot! has also been selected as a finalist for SENSE OF WONDER NIGHT 2026 (SOWN). I'll present the game on September 17 and briefly introduce how it grew from knot theory into a puzzle game. Permanent price adjustment The base price of Unknot! has been permanently adjusted: • Japan: ¥800 → ¥500 • United States: $6.99 → $4.99 • China: ¥18 → ¥12 This is a permanent price change, not a limited-time discount. RESEARCH UPDATE

Hello everyone! Unknot!'s first major update, v1.1.0, is now available. This update introduces Research Level, improves Stable physics, and adds a new Steam achievement. Research Level Add: 10 optional Research Levels, available from the title screen. These puzzles are designed to support research into knot puzzles and open problems related to unknotting in mathematical knot theory. Research participation and dataBefore playing, you can choose Agree & Upload or Play Only.Play Only lets you play every Research Level without uploading research data.If you choose Agree & Upload, de-identified puzzle-solving data may be uploaded after you clear a Research Level. This may include the level number, clear time, swap count, input events, rope states, and an anonymous Research Code. This data does not include your name, Steam name, Steam ID, email address, or any chat or personal message. New Steam achievement: important unlock conditionThe new achievement unlocks only after you first choose Agree & Upload and then successfully clear any Research Level. Agreeing to upload without clearing a level does not unlock the achievement. The achievement is awarded when the level is cleared. The upload itself does not need to finish successfully.Choosing Play Only still gives access to every Research Level, but does not unlock this achievement. Stable physicsImprove: More stable rope release, collision, and closed-link behavior in Stable mode.Fix: Saved physics settings and rope state now apply correctly when entering a level or loading a save. Please note: Research Level always uses Stable. Stable uses more precise calculations, but the controls will feel different from Default. Other improvements and fixesFix: Research Level icons now display correctly in exported builds. Fix: Some Research Level buttons could open the wrong level or fail to respond.Improve: Upload progress, success, and failure are now communicated through the clear screen. If an upload fails, the data remains saved on...

Demo Update: Stable Physics & Research Mode

Hello everyone! We’ve released a major update for the Unknot! demo, introducing a new physics option and a new way to contribute to mathematical research. Full details below:Stable Physics Mode• Add: A new Stable physics mode with more precise and consistent rope simulation.• Improve: Stable mode no longer uses the automatic freezing system that could interrupt play when a knot became unstable.• Please note: Stable mode changes how the rope feels when dragging, releasing, and settling. If you are used to the previous physics, please take a moment to adjust. Other physics modes remain available in Settings.Research Mode• Add: Research Mode. By playing specially selected knot problems, you can help mathematicians investigate open questions in knot theory.• For your play data to contribute to this research, it needs to be uploaded. When the research notice appears, please select “Agree & Upload.” Data is uploaded only after you give your consent.• Research Mode uses Stable physics by default to provide more accurate and consistent simulation data.• Research Levels also feature new background music. Special thanks to James Suh for the new music!Coming to the Full VersionStable Physics Mode and Research Mode will be added to the full version of Unknot! in the near future. The full version will also receive more Research Levels, all available completely free of charge.Thank you for playing the Unknot! demo—and for helping us explore the mathematics of knots!
