Embark on a week of mayhem in POSTAL 2 VR, where you choose to buy milk or go completely postal. Navigate the chaotic sandbox shooter through the eyes of VR, wielding unique weapons and dealing with unpredictable characters in this indie adventure.

About this game

Welcome to Paradise—Try Not to Burn It Down.

You’ve got a week’s worth of errands. Buy some milk. Return an overdue library book. Maybe get Gary Coleman’s autograph. Simple enough, right? But this is POSTAL 2 VR—where a normal day can spiral into absolute carnage at a moment’s notice, and the only thing more unpredictable than your to-do list is the lunatic freakshow that calls this town home.

For the first time ever, POSTAL 2 is fully reimagined for VR, bringing its dark humor, open-world mayhem, and unapologetic absurdity to an entirely new level. Step into the well-worn boots of The POSTAL Dude, a hapless everyman just trying to get through the week in the bizarre town of Paradise, Arizona. Whether you choose to play it cool or go completely POSTAL is entirely up to you.

Unleash Chaos—Or Don’t.

Paradise is your playground, and how you interact with it is entirely up to you. Be a law-abiding citizen or let loose with an arsenal of insane weapons, from gasoline and matches to the infamous cat silencer. Dual-wield shotguns, lob grenades, or take a more… personal approach with physics-driven melee combat. Every choice you make fuels the town’s dynamic AI, leading to unpredictable encounters, spontaneous riots, and absolute bedlam.

A Living, Breathing Open World (Full of Weirdos and Trouble)

Explore the world at your own pace, taking on daily errands in a non-linear sandbox filled with unpredictable NPCs, interactive environments, and absurdly detailed physics. Meet (or antagonize) eccentric residents, dodge rampaging elephants, or take in the sights—including Krotchy’s Toy Store and Uncle Dave’s heavily armed religious cult.

A Fully Overhauled VR Experience

POSTAL 2 VR will take full advantage of virtual reality. Feel every reload with manual weapon handling, interact with NPCs like never before using gesture-based reactions, and navigate the chaos with an overhauled inventory and minimap system designed specifically for VR. From flipping off bystanders to aiming every bodily function with precision, no other VR game gives you this much freedom… or this many ways to be a terrible person.

This is POSTAL 2 like you’ve never experienced before—fully unhinged, wildly immersive, and ready to let you loose in the most chaotic VR playground imaginable.

So… how will you spend your week in Paradise?

    NPC Pathfinding

As we all know, devs love commenting code. It’s why most programmers get into the industry in the first place. Our work would be a lot easier if it weren’t for the pesky code that often sits between these beautiful pearls of wisdom. Here are some of the completely real, super useful and informative comments peppered in the POSTAL 2 Redux code: //They say every cloud has a silver lining. In a similar way every actor has a position in the World. If it doesn't we really need to question what we know about Actors… and possibly clouds. //Further Check Native Types of whatever the hell they are called, probably meaningless, as is this comment//For the love of all that's good and holy, please just stop puking... Tells the head to stop the puking.//If not then go into an extended, idiotic conversation in which one guy asks something, the other guy says something stupid, and the first guy is confused. Loop appropriately. //Otherwise, stare at the weirdoWhen we collect enough of these comments together, we tie them in a neat bow and that becomes a dev diary (cue angelic music). We’ll aim to give these some structure, vastly increasing the amount of people that read all the way until the end. If we get to the double digits, we’ll be close to a World Record for the amount of people who finishing reading a dev diary. We’ll be releasing these throughout development. The first Dev Diary series will focus on what, from our point of view, is the most important part of POSTAL 2 Redux: The Beautiful and Chaotic Residents of Paradise! AKA Non-Player Characters (NPCs) In 1986 computer science pioneer Craig Reynolds performed a ground-breaking test where instead of coding exact behaviors he instead just gave digital birds a set of simple rules and set them loose. It became famous due to what transpired. When these bird agents were combined they started mimicking real World behaviors like flocking, V-formations and turning patterns. This proved that even in a simulation lifelike collectiv...

POSTAL 2 Redux and POSTAL VR: Meet Champ

If you’ve been following POSTAL 2 Redux, you know Champ isn’t just another NPC.He’s based on a real dog from the original POSTAL 2,  calm most of the time but easy to set off.“He was generally pretty chill, but very easy to set off. I witnessed him terrorize at least two visitors and one employee.” The original model was rough and low-poly, but memorable. When we first rebuilt it for POSTAL 2 Redux, it didn’t hold up. It felt outdated and lost what made Champ stand out.So we scrapped it. For POSTAL VR, Champ is also being reworked with scale, movement, and presence in mind to support a more immersive experience when the time comes.

The Redux and VR Run-Up: Counting Bodies and Answering Questions

You wouldn’t stop asking, so we stopped dodging Molotovs and wrote it all down. POSTAL 2 Redux is real, a love letter to the original, upgraded with all the power of today’s tech and yes—your unhinged demands absolutely helped make this mess happen. Below is the full FAQ: what Redux actually is, why we’re doing it this way, how VR fits, exactly when you’ll be “hosing down” Paradise in higher fidelity, and what fresh hell unlocks when our pre‑launch follower numbers spike. Before you scroll: hit “Notify me” on the Kickstarter, wishlist on Steam, and pile into Discord. Every new warm body pushes us closer to stretch goals that should probably be illegal. How are VR and Redux Different? To clarify, this Kickstarter funds a single product: POSTAL 2 Redux. However, both Redux and the VR version will share a common core, meaning improvements will benefit both flat-screen and VR simultaneously. If you're only interested in the VR version, note that any stretch goals achieved through this campaign will also apply to it. That said, unlike POSTAL 2 Redux, the release of POSTAL 2 VR is not contingent on the success of this Kickstarter.Building them in tandem leads to smarter development: shared gameplay improvements, more efficient and wider testing, and better polish across the board. We're also looking into the most cost-effective way for backers to own both, if they choose to. We’ll share more information as we get closer to launch. "Our goal is simple, make POSTAL 2 Redux the best damn game it deserves to be." POSTAL 2 is coming back for modern hardware in both VR and non-VR platforms. The Kickstarter Pre-launch is now live. Give it a follow in order to unlock new rewards. We are closing in to our first goal, giving Mike J some new moves and an updated look, but we'll need your support to get Steamworks Support and a super-fun pigeon mission into the game. More details below. Pre-Launch Stretch GoalsSpread the word about POSTAL 2 Redux before the Kickstarter campaign opens ...
