From a Climber
It started with one climb. Now everything I own is covered in chalk, my knees are decorated with mystery bruises, and my bank account is in shambles. When I'm not making this game, I'm probably hanging off a wall pretending to use my legs.
From a Solo Developer
No budget. No team. Just one guy making the climbing game he wishes existed. This is a love letter to climbing, gaming, and making dumb decisions in the name of passion. Please support the game... I really need a new pair of climbing shoes.

The Gym Keeps Growing [Devlog #5]
Hi everyone! What a year it's been. The idea was simple: make a game that truly captures the spirit of our beloved sport and its evolution into the modern form we know today. As usual, the project kept getting bigger and bigger, thanks to playtesting feedback, new ideas from the Discord server, and everything happening on social media.I'm really thankful to all of you who are passionate enough to contribute in these ways or even just spread the word around.I was hoping the demo would be out before the end of 2025, but with the addition of multiplayer, a bunch of QoL features as the foundation, and many cool design improvements, it'll land more January-ish 2026 (trust me, it'll be worth the wait!).So this time, you could pick more than one option, and the results are actually super clear.Building and customizing your own gym is #1 (31% / 100 votes) - so yeah, the main fantasy is still "let me create my very own climbing gym."Watching NPC climbers try your routes is a strong #2 (23% / 74 votes) - after a hard day of work, nothing beats the look of a climber failing on your creation.Climbing the routes yourself is the only feature that doesn't exist yet (19% / 62 votes) - not the top priority, but it's not "niche" either. It's a real chunk of you, and it's something that will be added to the game over time.Making money and growing the business sits in the middle (17% / 55 votes) - so management should be fun and meaningful, but not turn the game into spreadsheet simulator.Missions and challenges are the lowest (10% / 31 votes) - which tells me they should be more like optional guidance and goals, not the main reason to play. Hopefully, the core idea of business days with some extra lore sprinkled in suits that well.So overall: gym building first, NPC climbers as the reward, and everything else supporting that.Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you - higher grades, no injuries, and fewer rest days! And if you haven't yet, follow Climbing Gym Simulator and add it...Read full article on Community Announcements (KindByte)AnnouncementsOfficial
With a Little Help from My Friends [Devlog #4]
What's better than building your own climbing gym?Building one with your friends!"Wait, you can go outside now?"What's up?Every hour and day I spend on this project, I fall in love with it even more. The last month was very technical oriented, so there isn't much new and shiny to showcase. However, this work sets the standard for all the new features.Which are?First and foremost, I can confidently say that Climbing Gym Simulator will have multiplayer support.Since day one, I was considering the idea of adding multiplayer. As we know, climbing fits nicely into the category of social experiences. Many of you asked about it, so I took some time to test different solutions. I can finally say that I’m very pleased with the results.TutorialThe current version also includes a proper tutorial now. It should help new players understand the main game systems. Hopefully, it will reduce much of the initial confusion about placing your first climbing wall.StoryAfter the tutorial, you will begin an exciting journey to become a successful climbing gym. Over time, you will earn respect and draw more climbers in, encountering interesting people and facing various challenges along the way. What's next?Testing, testing, and more testingPreparations for the demo version announcementFinally, the official trailerMake sure to follow and add Climbing Gym Simulator to your wishlist!Read full article on Community Announcements (KindByte)AnnouncementsOfficial
Shaping the future - Climbing Gym Simulator [Devlog #3]
As always, all those amazing screenshots you see here were made by the community. It’s been a while.Well, what can I say, I’m not too consistent when it comes to writing devlogs, but at the same time it’s simply difficult to wear all the hats of solo development. Nevertheless, I’m excited about what’s being made and what the future holds.Climbing Holds?Speaking of holds, how can I ensure we have enough of them for you to have fun in the game? Since this game idea was born, I knew there was gonna be a big focus on community sharing. Aside from a basic set of holds I’m gonna provide, you’ll be able to easily share and download content made by other players! Sounds cool? Let’s see what some of you have to say about this!Wanna take part in the next polls? Make sure to join Discord server.In-game holds editor (?)Shaping your own holds in the inventory room of your gym seems like an amazing idea. Most of you would prefer that to be part of the in-game systems, which I’m also considering and will most likely make a reality once I deal with the optimization issues that come with it.UtilitiesDuring the previous playtest there were concerns about reaching high walls, box clutter, and the lack of a human-body reference during routesetting. That’s how the utility bar was born. Now you can deploy and retrieve different objects: empty boxes, ladders, and a dummy. I’m not gonna explain it further, as most are self-explanatory, but the most fun is that you’ll be able to throw a dummy on your route to test-climb it.What’s next?Right now I’m:Finishing all the building toolsWorking on the tutorialOverthinking the UI and redesigning it until I’m happy ːsteamfacepalmːPrototyping NPC climbingBattling bugs and adding QoL featuresThanks to everyone who played, tested, broke stuff, and sent in ideas. Your interaction and commitment are making the game better every day. Unleash your creativity! - Climbing Gym Simulator [Devlog #2]
All the amazing screenshots you see here were made by the community. Some beautiful things are happening. The first private playtest just went live and has already brought in some fantastic feedback and suggestions. It’s been amazing to see players interact with the systems, break things I didn’t expect, and come up with ideas I never would’ve thought of on my own. What’s included in the playtest?Right now, the focus is on the core experience: building walls, placing holds, and setting routes. There are no climbers or open gym yet. This first version is all about giving you full creative control and seeing how people approach route setting and gym design with zero hand-holding.Why release it so early?I wanted to validate the feel of the core mechanics and gather real feedback as early as possible. Seeing how players build, organize, and interact with the systems has been incredibly valuable. And honestly, it’s just way more fun to build the game with a community than alone in a vacuum. What’s next?Right now I’m:Fixing bugs and adding some QoL improvementsWrapping up the core building featuresStarting to shift focus toward tycoon and simulation elementsManaging the community and dropping fun social media content here and thereThings are moving fast and your feedback is what’s driving it.Thanks to everyone who played, tested, broke stuff, and sent in ideas. This interaction and your commitment is making the game better every day. Dream Big, Climb Higher - Climbing Gym Simulator [Devlog #1]
{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45572834/c71a91123b8063a33f067516ddef0e582ea0e8f9.jpg Let’s kick off with a quick introduction. If you’re into climbing, you’ve probably dreamed of opening your own gym or at least building a home wall. Since that usually takes a lot of funding and effort, I decided to live that dream through a game instead - and when it turned out to be way more fun and creative than I expected, I knew I had to share it with you. Is this game for non-climbers too? If you’re not a climber and wondering if this game might still be for you - think of it like building a giant playground and watching monkeys (well, slightly bigger ones) swinging and struggling around your creations. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45572834/8e2126a7e9e09a298446abcab6ff15b55ccb0ec0.jpg V2 in my gym. What is Climbing Gym Simulator? In Climbing Gym Simulator, you run your own gym: building walls, placing holds, setting routes, and watching physics-based NPC climbers attempt them. You can’t climb yourself (for now!) - the focus is on creativity, management, and a bit of chaos. How does the game start? You’ll start with an empty warehouse and a big loan. Sign your first deal, build your gym, attract customers, and expand. What's the goal? Grow big, pay it all back, and have tons of fun.
