About this game

Strategic Deckbuilder - Leadbelly is a hand-drawn, narrative-driven roguelike deckbuilder. Build your deck and adapt to four rival factions — PowderKeg, BlackEmber, StormFront, and CopperLung — each built around an element with its own weaknesses. Water conducts. Oil burns.

Reap what you sow - A dying enemy is worth more than a dead one. Their brain surfaces, exposed, health draining every turn, until they're incapacitated — and their allies will break formation to save them. Leave them and they self-destruct. Harvest them and the brain is yours to use as you see fit. But beware, it happens to you too.

A Story-Fueled Campaign - Leadbelly isn't just about survival, it's about discovery. From scorched wastelands to electrified fortresses, each act culminates in a powerful boss battle guarding a piece of your past. With every victory, you peel back the layers of a mystery far bigger than you imagined.

Your Tank Has a Mind of its Own - You're not alone inside your steel ball prison. CASS guides you along the way, offering tactical advice, insights, and maybe even a bit of friendship. Maybe.

Upgrade Through Meta-Progression - Every failure is fuel for your next try. Cards earn mastery stars through play until they're eligible for upgrade, and that progress carries between runs. Spend Parts in Sprocket's Tank Workshop on Modules and Perks. Unlock new cards and relics as you go.

I've always wanted to try my hand at music and here's my shot! It's still a bit rough, but I couldn't wait to put it in the game. I'll continue to update and refine, but I think it's getting there. Feedback is welcome as always!Rodrigo

The Leadbelly demo is out now! Thank you long time wishlisters for waiting!

It's out!If you wishlisted or followed Leadbelly, you've been waiting a while for this one — thank you for sticking around. The demo is live, it's free, and you can play it right now. It's a slice, not the whole thing. The first level. Enough to get a feel for how a run actually plays.I've been making this for quite a while now, and every frame of it is drawn by hand — which is a long way of saying I genuinely don't know what it's like to play for the first time. So if you have thoughts, good or bad, the discussions are open and I'll be reading them. Bug reports especially welcome. Thanks for being here. The image below are some of first sketches I did years and years ago. Rodrigo
