About the Game

Once a mighty empire, the land now lies barren, consumed by an unrelenting cold. Twisted by the Emperor’s pact with the Void, its ruins are haunted by relentless revenants and eldritch horrors. Aboard an armored, steam-powered train, the Penitent Gardeners purge the land of the cursed, granting mercy to the lost and striking down the wicked, seeking salvation in the heart of the frozen desolation.





Your train is more than a refuge, it is your only way forward. As you explore the frozen wasteland, it will keep you moving and alive, carrying everything you need to survive. Fuel the Eden Engine, manage its power, and operate your train to explore further, scavenging what little remains of this world.

As your struggle grows heavier, so must your train. Reinforce its walls, craft weapon stations, and upgrade the engine to outpace the horrors that hunt you. Expand with new carriages, crafting stations and storage, forging a moving fortress against the cold and the terrors beyond.





Beyond the tracks lies a world frozen in death, its ruins entombed in ice and time. Explore the wasteland for vital supplies, scavenge the remnants of abandoned settlements, and break into wreckage lost to the frost. Descend into treacherous depths where greater rewards come at a deadly cost.

But the cold is unforgiving, and every step away from your train is a gamble. Risk death for precious supplies or stay safe and go without. The frost creeps into your bones, the blizzard blinds, slows, and suffocates. Heat is survival, ration it wisely. And in the silence of the snow, something else stirs…





Face the revenants alone or band together to survive relentless combat and carve a path through the frozen wasteland. Scavenge, hunt, craft weapons and equipment to face the horrors lurking in the dark. Brave the depths of derelict bunkers and ruined strongholds, where darkness conceals both salvage and death. Fortify your train, arm yourselves, survive the unspeakable. Or be consumed by the frost.

  Frostrail Closed Beta Launched!

  Greetings wayfarers! Steam's PvE Survival Crafting Fest has arrived, and so has our Closed Beta! If you're accepted into the Beta or were already a playtester, you should now be able to play and invite your friends to join you. In this article, we’ll share all the information you need! Beta InformationHere is some important information to be aware of before jumping in: The beta end on the 7th of SeptemberThere are no NDA - You can record and stream the content however you like!Play with your Friends!You can invite up to 3 friends to play with youBring your crew aboard! You can invite up to 3 friends to join the Playtest. Once they have joined, each of them will also be able to invite up to 3 more players.You will find the invites on the Steam game page.Share your feedback!Beta Testers can now access our dedicated forums, where they can exchange, discuss and share feedback about the game! In the game, you'll find an in-game bug report button, as well as a feedback survey!   Spring Development Update

  Hello everyone! The winter has receded here in northern Europe, but in the world of Frostrail, the cold persists, and so do our development efforts. Let’s take a closer look at how our frosty game has been progressing during the last few months.First closed playtestLast week marked the end of the first closed playtest for Frostrail. It was extremely reassuring to see the excitement towards our game, and over 100,000 applications from eager playtesters! Unfortunately we couldn't grant access to everyone, but trust that your interest warmed our hearts like the Eden Engine! More playtests with a larger number of players are planned for later down the line. We learned a lot from the playtest. A number of bug reports came in from players exploring the frozen wasteland, ranging from smaller issues to more significant problems that helped us identify areas needing extra attention. Dozens of these bugs have already been addressed, and work continues on many more as development moves forward.We sincerely thank all of our playtesters for the feedback and enthusiasm they shared throughout the event. It was encouraging to see praise for the parts of the experience that resonated most, alongside thoughtful suggestions for areas players wanted to see expanded or improved. In many cases, feedback from the community closely matched ideas and features our own developers had already planned for future updates, reinforcing the direction we want Frostrail to grow towards.Newest additions and developmentIn the background of the playtest shenanigans, our team has continued hard at work shaping the gameplay and world of Frostrail with new features, systems and visual improvements. Over the past few months, we’ve expanded the onboarding experience with a brand-new tutorial level and additional tutorial objectives, introduced progression that now carries between levels, and added new levels featuring multiple exit points.   400,000 Wishlists & Playtest Extended!

  Today’s update brings more great news following the start of our closed playtest.We’re incredibly happy to share that Frostrail has now reached 400,000 wishlists on Steam! This is a huge milestone for the team, and we want to thank everyone who has supported the game so far.To celebrate, we’re extending the current playtest until May 4th, giving more of you the opportunity to jump in and experience Frostrail firsthand.We’ve also sent out a new wave of invites, so be sure to keep an eye on your Steam notifications and emails if you’ve requested access.As a reminder, the playtest is focused on gathering feedback on the early game loop and overall feel of the experience.
