---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Paleolith is a hardcore first-person survival simulator set in the unforgiving wilderness of humanity's dawn. With nothing but your wits and primal survival skills, you must endure a world where nature is harsh but fair.
Paleolith’s Core Survival Features
Character’s Needs and Senses
Hunger might be the least of your concerns when you’re battling the freezing cold, struggling with illness and insomnia, or nursing broken bones after an unfortunate fall. Survival is about more than just food—you must maintain your body’s health and keep your senses sharp. Stay vigilant, as danger can be seen, heard, and even smelled before it strikes.
Complex Crafting
Gathering resources is just the beginning. Every action matters—one reckless mistake while crafting a shelter or sharpening a spear can set you back significantly. And that’s not even mentioning the delicate art of fire-making, a skill crucial for warmth, cooking, and protection. Every tool, every structure, every fire you make is a hard-earned triumph against the wild.
Wildlife
If you run around carelessly, don’t expect to see much wildlife—animals will avoid you long before you notice them. Stealth is key to successful hunting; staying out of sight is not enough. You must also mask your noise and scent, set traps, and carefully plan your approach. Fail, and you go hungry.
Four Seasons
Your journey begins in summer, giving you time to prepare before nature truly tests you. Winter is the ultimate challenge—freezing temperatures, dwindling resources, and relentless cold will push your survival skills to the limit. Seasons aren’t just a visual change; they impact the world—plants wither, animals migrate, and rivers freeze over, leaving you to adapt or perish.
Unpredictable Threats
If hunger doesn’t get you, something else will. Wild animals, poisonous plants, infections, and untreated injuries can be just as deadly as the cold. Poor preparation can lead to disease, and even walking through the woods without proper clothing can leave you wounded. Every step you take must be carefully considered.
These are just a few aspects of Paleolith’s unforgiving world. Do you have what it takes to survive?

Field Notes: The Road to Spring
We've been heads-down on the demo for a while, so we made a roadmap to actually show where things stand. Nothing here is a promise carved in stone. It's just an honest snapshot of what's done, what we're building, and where we want to take it.The Foundation is already in the game. Your body and its needs, weather that genuinely affects you, picking things up and moving them around, and a world you read by listening to it.The Survival Core is what's on our desks right now. Everything points at one thing: the demo goal of surviving three nights. Fire, shelter, hunting, saving your run.And past the demo sits the Vision. Making it through winter to spring, growing as you learn the world and settle into it, and the deeper systems we want to build once the core is solid. We're a small team, so if this is your kind of survival game, a wishlist means a lot!Follow along for more:YouTubeDiscordTikTokInstagramPatreonKo-FiWe post clips, screenshots, and dev updates across all of them.Read full article on Community Announcements (blood of starlight)AnnouncementsOfficial
Paleolith Main Menu
Hello everyone! We're happy to share a fresh look at Paleolith's main menu. From the very beginning, we wanted to create an interface that feels like a natural part of the Stone Age world. The design relies on stone textures and hand‑drawn charcoal icons, aiming to feel authentic to the era rather than resembling a modern UI.We're still refining the details but the core idea is already in place: a diegetic and authentic interface that keeps you immersed in the era.📺 Watch the full video: For more news and to be part of our community, visit us on Patreon, Discord and Ko-Fi. Hunting that starts long before the throw
Hi there!Today we want to share one of the mechanics of our game with you: hunting. In Paleolith, animals don't wait to be found. The deer hears footsteps, catches your scent, and flees long before you even see it.To succeed in a hunt, you need to: — move against the wind, — stay quiet and avoid sudden movements — a twig underfoot or any sharp move will give you away, — stalk, don't run.Hunting here is about paying attention to the world around you. The wind, the ground under your feet, the way the animal moves — all of it matters. What hunting mechanics would you like to see added to the game, and how do you feel about the ones already there? If you want to be part of our community, visit us on Patreon, Discord and Ko-Fi. Bedding from spruce branches
Hey everyone! We are moving towards the upcoming playtest, so now is a good time to share content updates with our community!Today, we want to show one specific mechanic that will be in Paleolith. You can pick up spruce branches from a tree and use them to make a bed to sleep in. After that, you won't suffer from the cold or diseases that are typical of sleeping on the bare ground. If you want to see more relevant news about our game, check out Patreon or Discord. Thanks again for all your support!– The Paleolith teamRead full article on Community Announcements (Painfulljke)AnnouncementsOfficial
Waking up thirsty: sleep system prototype
In Paleolith, sleep isn’t just a menu option — it’s a real, animated action. We’ve been working on a basic version of the sleep mechanic, and here’s how it works right now:The character lies down with a full-body animationTime speeds up — fatigue, thirst, hunger, and health change dynamicallyWhen thirst reaches a critical level, the character wakes up automaticallyThis is just one part of a larger system where your needs shape how long you can rest and what happens while you sleep. In future versions, shelter warmth, weather, and dreams will all affect sleep.💬 We’d be happy to hear what you think — feel free to leave a comment.🔥 If you’d like to help us move faster, support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/paleolithRead full article on Community Announcements (Naturegames)
