Dev Log — New System: Augments
Preface Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about replayability in Elemental Labyrinth. As a solo developer, finding ways to keep the game fresh and engaging over time is a big priority. Inspired by my recent time with Teamfight Tactics: Set 14, I’m excited to introduce a brand-new system to the game: Augments. What Are Augments? Augments are powerful game modifiers that players will choose from every 5 waves. They can change the course of a run dramatically — from enhancing the strength and role of a single Spirit, to reshaping how your defenses work, or even altering enemy behavior entirely. Some augments might give a Spirit more utility, others might transform it into a completely new threat. And some will give you strategic levers to mess with enemy mechanics themselves. This system opens up a ton of build variety and decision-making each game. What’s Next? The system is still being tested and tweaked, but the current plan is to have over 70 unique augments at launch. Combined with the randomness of tower summons and fusions, I believe this will make each run feel unique and rewarding. Let me know what kind of augments you'd like to see! Your feedback helps shape the game as it evolves. Join our Discord for more updates discussion: https://discord.gg/waRkE4nMV5Read full article on Community Announcements (LightKod)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch 0.1.3 (Demo)
After a week of releasing the demo, I realized that many players struggled with the concept of building an effective maze. To address this, I’ve added new tutorial prompts that provide tips and guidance on how to approach maze building strategically. While I believe the game has a certain level of depth, much of it is currently hidden within the Spirit Binder entries—requiring players to read through all of them to fully understand the mechanics and synergies. To improve this, I’ve made some adjustments to the UI to highlight important information more clearly and make it easier for players to grasp key concepts. Gameplay Burn: Reworked — Burn now refreshes its duration upon reapplication and accumulates damage each tick. Toxic Implant: Increased Poison stack application. Enemies that die with Mark will spread Poison to nearby enemies. Medusa: Replaced Petrify with a stackable Slow effect. Tutorial: Reworked — Now displays more detailed information. When encountering a new mechanic, an explanatory popup will appear. Spirit Binder: Now shows Spirit traits and suggests compatible teammates. Gameplay UI: Reduced scale for better clarity. Bug Fixes Fixed bugs related to enemy movement. Fixed issues involving multiple buffs and debuffs.Read full article on Community Announcements (LightKod)
