Embark on a high-energy adventure where breaking limits and exploring new possibilities is key. In Grabbus, your actions shape the world as you build, fuse, and shoot your way through a surreal landscape.
About this game
Morris the rat, attached to a friendly parasite he names "Grabbus", awakes in a place called "Skixx" full of other rats, creatures, and otherworldly physics...
Grab, Throw, Build, Explore, Upgrade, Fuse, Shoot, and Loot in this surreal, high-energy adventure where breaking the limits and reaching further is encouraged!
Here are some key features already present in Grabbus:
Your Own Endless World: The turn-based world map is generated uniquely for each save file, and allows for exploring in all directions, as well as building useful structures. This is where one will find activities or locations to visit.
Grab and Battle in Random Towers: Grabbus contains a tile-based area generator that can produce a surprising variety of terrain shapes, while keeping the stage traversable, with treasure and enemies evenly placed. Explore these areas as Morris and Grabbus. Morris uses his legs to move, while Grabbus takes care of the rest! Grabbus can grab onto and pull at objects and enemies, as well as activate context-sensitive actions with them! Most importantly, Grabbus can use consumable items or siphon the potency of weapons to form energy bullets of varying patterns and traits. And of course, Grabbus can form a bubble shield around Morris to not only block damage, but reflect projectiles!
Upgrade Forever: The "Evolution Grid" gives players the ability to spend in-game currency on an ever-expanding matrix of 18 different upgrade nodes and tiles! The grid can be regenerated at the cost of a percentage of node points. However, those lost points are invested into upgrades to the evolution grid itself!
Fuse Loot and Weapons: Find helpful items of varying potency levels as you defeat enemies and clear tower floors! Grabbus can take two compatible items and mix them to get a more desirable result and save some inventory space. Experiment with all sorts of combinations!
Increasing Challenge and Rewards: As Morris and Grabbus clear tower floors, "world potency" slowly increases at a small, fixed amount. But, if Morris perishes, not only does he drop all held items, but the world potency decreases by a percentage. World potency determines the difficulty/reward level of any newly-generated towers that appear around your HQ. Towers of higher difficulty will have nastier enemies, but loot found there may drop with a higher maximum potency level!
Designed to Expand: Grabbus is carefully designed from the ground up to support a variety of expansions to its pool of items, NPCs, areas, and other features! If something new is added, it should be able to fit itself neatly into any phase of a play-through thanks to the borderless procedural world and power scaling.

Grabbus v0.2.6 Released!
Foxoplasm is proud to present the latest update to Grabbus! This update is overflowing with balance adjustments, fixes, and new features!Let us know how Grabbus feels to play with the following changes...Item Storage! This new menu, found alongside the Evolution Grid in the Status tab of the world map, is used to manage your collected items. You can sort, transfer, fuse, or trash from here!Quantagons, fusion sparks, and health orbs now all have new sprites with three tiers of value each. Loot drops will automatically divvy the larger currency rewards into these higher value denominations to make for less lag and more satisfaction!Fixed a bug in terrain collision physics that caused objects that collide with a corner at a certain angle to sort of.. "wrap" toward the corner and along the adjacent wall. This was due to momentum being improperly cancelled by the sides of an object that face opposite to that object's motion. Morris' remaining HP now slightly boosts the amount of fusion sparks gained when the victory seed lands. The inventory now displays during the inventory tutorial! Great!!!Passive spawn rate of tower-placing entities reduced. (Note that these will be replaced/reworked later)Fixed a crash that would result from excess quantagon collection reward drops that were lost during simultaneous stage transitions.Enemy HP and Projectile Damage difficulty scaling has been given a new diminishing curve. The potency of the free weapon received upon entering a tower with an empty inventory is now affected by tower difficulty like other loot.A text effect now appears to alert you to when "extra loot" effects activate, and how much!Effectiveness of "Potency Containment" nodes on the evolution grid has been boosted.Initial evolution point cost increased by 1, but now it takes 10 points purchased to increase the cost further... up from 7 before. The size of any projectile now affects its base damage, with the effects of "ripening" and "splitting" on projectile damage both ...Read full article on Community Announcements (GrabbusDEV)Patch NotesOfficial
New Details on Upcoming 'Grabbus' Update!
We've been hard at work on the next update! These patch notes will be one of the larger ones seen since entering Steam Early Access...A summary of upcoming changes...-World Map 'Status' section: This will contain buttons that bring you to features like the Evolution Grid or Item Storage. In a future update, more detailed information relevant to your current play-through will also display here to the side of the buttons.-Item Storage Menu: The item storage menu is designed to be flexible, expandable, and easy-to-use. Designed with both Gamepad and KBM in mind! Simply press one button on a selected item to move or select it. Hold the same button down for a moment to trigger batch processes like recycling or fusion that allow you to select multiple items. A "tool belt" between the inventory and storage box contains the buttons for switching between transfer, fuse, and recycle modes. An additional button allows you to sort your items by category and power level, just like in dungeons!-New Pickup Tiers: Health Orbs, Fusion Sparks, and Quantagons will have three tiers of value each. This is to allow for larger rewards that spew out fewer objects! Each pickup has also had its appearance improved.-Balance Improvements: Difficulty scaling, evolution node cost, stun changes, damage, health, basically everything has been messed with. As always, we'll be looking forward to any feedback on the feel of difficulty vs. progression.-Bug Fixes: Inventory not showing during the inventory tutorial? Finding it strange that spiky guys only seem sharp when they feel like it? Just plain crashing? We have you covered!Current Status:The item storage menu has all of its functionality programmed, but is in need of graphics! Once the menu is pretty enough, another quick round of general testing will be done before releasing a new update. Thanks again for your patience and continued support as work gets done!Read full article on Community Announcements (GrabbusDEV)Patch NotesOfficial

We're proud to present the latest update to Grabbus! -The world map's visuals have been further enhanced with a lighting layer, several reworked tiles, and a complete set of foliage for each biome! -Fixed bad math in the loot power calculation, specifically related to base drop potency and first drop potency, both of which now work as intended. This should have significant effect on playability and the feeling of difficulty, so feedback on balance is appreciated! -The inventory now shows the projected potency of an item fusion, and also shows a warning symbol if one or both items are over containment! -Further optimized rotation of world map tiles using pre-calculated vectors -Further optimized data-fetching routines for world map tiles -Fixed a crash caused by an oversight in the game's database refresh script that was using the wrong type of clearing functions -Fixed a crash caused by the goal seed spawning after Morris perishes. Upcoming tasks on the to-do list include... -Worldmap Item Bank -Vendor NPC -Currency/pickup tiers -Reward Screen -Morris Defeat Animation -Buildings that Do Things -Rat Rescue! World Map Graphical Overhaul Progress
Some graphics still need to be added or replaced, but the overhaul is going well! All 16 new biomes now have their terrain tiles done, and water animation is also getting tweaked. The shader previously used to recolor tiles between biomes has been removed, further increasing performance overhead, allowing the screen to be more easily filled with the new, larger tiles!Next, we'll be working on adding or updating sprites for buildings, vegetation, and other details. After all the new graphics are complete and checked-over, (and a quick playtest for balance adjustment is done), this update will be published.Read full article on Community Announcements (GrabbusDEV)
