About this game
Veil of Ashes is a real-time strategy game set in a dark universe with steam-powered war machines. Fight for control of strategic points across diverse maps in both single-player and multiplayer modes, where battlefields can be destroyed as the war unfolds.
Command forces ranging from infantry and tanks to colossal behemoths. Earn Tactical Points in tactically demanding battles to deploy powerful war machines, tactical strikes, and support assets, shifting the momentum of battle in your favor.
The World of Veil of Ashes
In 1704, the world was consumed by an unprecedented inferno. When the flames finally subsided, they left behind Cinium, mysterious white fragments, pure as angel feathers and possessing immense power.
Two centuries later, new kingdoms and reborn empires rise from the ruins of the old world, fighting over dwindling resources as a grey veil covers the sky and ash deserts turn the Earth into a wasteland.
Cinium fuels their war machines, powering steam-driven tanks and colossal behemoths as they battle for control of a world slowly fading into ashes.
Original Factions With Unique Flavours
The theocratic Sacrum Imperium, led by the Novissima Ecclesia, is a fanatical faction that overwhelms its enemies with sheer firepower and super-heavy Cataphractus tanks.
Dominating the western Mediterranean and expanding relentlessly, the Sacrum Imperium is the strongest power on the European continent.
The feudal Lohenreich, whose knights march into battle aboard heavily armored Lanzierer tanks, accompanied by loyal Panzerknecht Soldiers.
A remnant of ancient times in Central Europe. A mighty empire that is crumbling with each passing day. But its shards are ready to defend what is left.
During each match, build your army from different companies, each offering unique units and playstyles. Adapt your composition and tactics to the evolving conditions of the battlefield.
Combat Leaves Scars On The Battlefield
The longer the battle goes on, the more it impacts the map. Craters and wrecks alter the landscape. Destroyed Behemoths not only block the terrain but can also be garrisoned by advancing troops. Every successful commander knows how to integrate these into their strategy.
Dynamic Single-player Campaign
Veil of Ashes features semi-procedural single-player campaigns, each designed as a military venture across a strategic overworld map layered with tactical battles. You choose your path toward key objectives, expanding your army and managing resources under increasing pressure from time-limits and narrative-driven events.
Every decision matters, as battles have lasting consequences creating different outcomes, risks, and rewards across each playthrough.
The system is designed to offer strong replayability through procedural elements and branching events, while its modular structure allows for future expansion, including additional factions and content.
Face Human Opponents
Multiplayer and skirmish battles support up to 4v4 (PvE and PvP), offering dynamic large-scale tactical engagements across diverse maps. Players can test different army compositions and strategies in fast-paced, objective-driven combat where positioning, timing, and reinforcement choices are crucial.
Skirmish features two core game modes:
Breakthrough – one team attacks while the opposing team defends key positions across the map from the start
Conquest – capture and control sectors to gain dominance over the battlefield
Main features
Semi procedural single-player campaign set in a post-apocalyptic alternate history
Multiplayer and skirmish up to 4v4 (PvE and PvP) with two game modes: Breakthrough and Conquest
Two unique factions at launch: Sacrum Imperium and Lohenreich
Large variety of different units ranging from infantry to colossal behemoths
Immersive and destructible environments
Dark setting with steam-powered war machines and high-quality graphics
More content and new factions (such as the third faction The Communes) are also planned to further expand the game in the future.

Veil of Ashes | Dev Diary #2: Gameplay Overview & Lore
Our second monthly Dev Diary gives an overview of our vision for Veil of Ashes, explores the lore, and takes a brief look at the key features shaping the game.VisionOur vision for a strategy game began with a wish – back when we hadn’t even imagined we’d ever develop a game of this kind. We wanted a game where you could feel the weight of the tanks – where you could sense just how massive and powerful these vehicles are. Many years have passed since then, and our vision has changed and evolved alongside the development of Veil of Ashes; it has also had to adapt to the limits of what we, as a small team, can and cannot achieve.Veil of Ashes is a real-time strategy game inspired by the dynamics and atmosphere of the classic title World in Conflict. And we’re extending that with more realism and more distinct factions in a fictional setting. We want to bring to life what we enjoy most about strategy games:commanding cool units across the battlefield, developing new strategies and tactics, and experiencing thrilling battles where you always have something to do and never feel as if you've run out of options.LoreVeil of Ashes is set in an alternative-historical world where the end of the world is coming, but is still several decades away. 200 years earlier, on 13 July 1704, an apocalyptic inferno descended upon the world, the origin of which remains unknown. The consequences were devastating and altered the course of history for empires and societies. With the inferno came Cinium. Small as pebbles, white as angel’s feathers and brimming with energy just waiting to be ignited.Yet the inferno left behind not only Cinium and scars that cut like swathes across the continents, but also grey patches.Deserts of ash.For a long time, the deserts — within which an unreachable fire rages — spread only slowly. Hardly anyone noticed. But in recent decades, their expansion has begun to accelerate rapidly. In storms of ash and embers, the deserts are spreading abruptly. Regions are thro...Read full article on Community Announcements (danamite)AnnouncementsOfficial
Veil of Ashes | Dev Diary #1: Lohenreich Airship Design Process
This is the first in a series of Dev Diaries, through which we aim to give you a closer look at the development of Veil of Ashes. This post focuses on the design, modelling and texturing process behind the Lohenreich faction’s transporter, which drops off requested units in the landing zone within the game. Although it does not take part directly in the fighting, it valiantly delivers Lohenreich’s men-at-arms and heavy Lanzierers to the front line from the start to the end of the battle.Community involvementThe concept started with a poll on our community server on Discord. We wanted to know what sort of transport vehicle the Lohenreich community would like to see.The options were: A) VTOL aircraft, B) airship, C) helicopter (or similar), and D) something else.We already suspected at that point that B) Airship would probably win, as the community had repeatedly expressed a desire for an airship. So it came as no surprise that option B ultimately won.A while after the first poll, as the work on the airship drew nearer, a second poll was opened. This time, the question was what sort of airship people wanted. The options were A) Rigid airship / Zeppelin (a more realistic approach), B) Full-metal style like Ghibli airships (a less realistic approach) and C) A mix of both.We again expected B) to win, but to our surprise, an overwhelming majority chose C) a mix of both. The problem, however, was that whilst there were plenty of references for A and B, we’d phrased option C far too vaguely. As a result, it was initially unclear exactly what the community was now expecting.3D ModellingFeeling somewhat unsure about the many possibilities offered by Option C, we began the concept and blockout phases. The design of our 3D models for units and similar assets is often based on rough sketches, which are then turned into initial blockouts relatively quickly. The requirements that the model had to meet were important, including: it could not be larger than the Sacrum Imperium faction’...Read full article on Community Announcements (danamite)AnnouncementsOfficial
