About this game
Story
Vee Urban, an anime-loving American sixteen year old, moves to Japan with her father–only it’s not the flashy streets of Shinjuku and glitzy fashion of Akihabara she always dreamed of; it’s quiet, calm Joyo City, a suburb of Kyoto. Vee’s a fish out of water in a brand-new country, facing language barriers, culture misunderstandings, and a whole school of unfamiliar people.
Vee makes new friends, tries new activities, and has a chance run-in with Kosagawa Yuuka, the aloof, alluring soft tennis star who’s also the most popular girl in school. Through a series of chance encounters, they enter a messy romantic relationship that creates a whirlwind throughout the school.
It’s a slice-of-life comedy, an LGBTQ+ coming-of-age drama, and an expansive adventure game that follows a year of school life through real-time story episodes.
Features
Life in Japan – Experience high school life as a foreign exchange student and learn about Japanese culture and daily life. Overcome language barriers and find your path into adulthood!
Make new friends – Meet a large cast of diverse characters and deepen your bond, both platonic and romantic. There are over twenty characters to get to know, and each one is fleshed out in their own way.
Explore a realistic Japan – Ryugaku Ren’ai takes care to present a true-to-life story of teen life in modern-day Japan, depicting actual locations in and around Kyoto Prefecture, existing events, and the genuine experiences of foreign residents.
Choose and grow – Characters change over the course of the school year, and so will you. The choices you make early on–what club you join, what friends you prioritize–may make a significant difference many months later.
Real-time episodic release – The game will release in real-time episodes throughout the year, following the real-life calendar in Japan–play Vee’s summer vacation in summer, enjoy the Culture Festival in fall, and ride through Valentine’s Day in winter, among many other events. Buy the game once, and look forward to each new free episode.

Toxic Yuri Release Date - 9/18!
The Toxic Yuri release date is close! Yuri Kissaten’s third full game will launch on September 18th, 2026. Doku-chan will be unleashed onto the world in all her glory, and nobody can stop her, not even us.Yuri Kissaten has spent the last many months crafting the most delightfully noxious romantic comedy visual novel of all-time, and we’re really excited to see you explore it all. We’ve buried some gut-busting gags, eye-poppingly adorable moments, and pitch-dark terror all throughout this game, with 15+ episode variants and 10+ endings. Can YOU earn your happy ending with Doku-chan? Or will things just end up toxic? Try out the Episode 1 demo to prepare. At launch, the game will be available on PC, Mac, and Linux, on Steam and Itch. It will only be available in English at first, but we plan to add Japanese and Chinese localizations by the end of 2026. And, if the game’s a big hit, we’ll keep adding more localizations, and hopefully more platforms as well. The best things you can do to help build up the Toxic Yuri hype:Spread the word to everyone. To your family, friends, exes, situationships, old flings you met once on vacation and then never texted after returning home, and that one coworker you can tell is really into anime but hides it well.Sign our Day 1 Review Pledge! We need at least 10 reviews on September 18th in order to break Steam’s “small games” curse. Our first games didn’t manage it, so that’s why we’re asking YOU for help. Yes, you personally! For more info about Toxic Yuri, check out the game page on our website, or take a look at the press kit.Read full article on Community Announcements (funkydinosaurs)Community & EventsOfficial

Yuri Kissaten Studio Update: A Lilyful Year to Come
Yuri Kissaten completed its first full year as a game studio in 2025, and wowzers was it an adventure! If you remember, we embarked on the "5 for '25 Campaign," an effort to work on and announce five different games throughout 2025. In the end, we only released one full game, Winter Heat, and one smaller game, "Life of a Dispatch English Teacher in Japan," though we learned a whole lot in the process. And we really did end up revealing all 5 games as planned!Look at all the games we worked on in 2025:We ran our first crowdfunding campaign, we attended our first live event and first Steam events, we made three different showcase videos, we did social video marketing... It was a big year of firsts. And so, 2026 will be just as ambitious, but with more targeted, specific goals. I have no clue how many games we'll announce, and how many games we'll release is still in flux (it seems like four, but it could be three or five depending on what gets finished soonest). But I do know we're going to strive for our Six Sapphic Goals for 2026, and I'll share them with you.#1 Release demos early and often. While we will release 3-4 games in 2026, we're still working on plenty of projects, and we want to at least get demos out for every unreleased game by the end of the year. Store pages are nice, and a really big mark of progress, but demos are best because y'all players can experience them, and it's a lot easier to share. Even for games several years out, we'll try to get a demo out soon.#2 Work on RPGM projects! We've only done visual novels so far, but we had a lot of fun working on the imminently upcoming Oomfie RPG sub-game for Winter Heat. Both of us (Bea and Fruz) have experience making top-down adventure games in our younger years, and we want to bring that passion into Yuri Kissaten soon too. Narrative games in all shapes and sizes are great!#3 Collab with new people. So far, we've worked with extremely small teams in our games, and one of the two of us has led every project ...Read full article on Community Announcements (funkydinosaurs)
