Embark on a mischievous adventure as a cat exploring streets and parks in City of Cats, a cozy sandbox game from Screaming Cat Studios. Live the ultimate feline life by meowing, napping, and causing chaos wherever you roam.

About this game

City of Cats is a fun, cozy sandbox game where you live the ultimate feline life. Explore streets, alleyways, houses, and parks as a mischievous cat, meowing, swatting, and causing chaos wherever and however you decide to do so. Hang out with your friends, chase mice, knock over objects, or lounge in the sun. No rules, just a world of purrfect possibilities. How will you spend your nine lives?

During your time in City of Cats you'll come up against harsh weather that will make you want to seek cover. Snow storms are rare but can happen, changing the rules of survival as you play. However, if you get into a nice warm house then you'll be safe from the perilous conditions.

As you live your life you'll get the call of the wild to become the cat you yearn to be. At times you may just get an urge to go sit under a bush or bring a leaf home. On the other hand you might just want to be a plastic eating goblin. As you follow more and more instincts you'll get perks of being a seasoned feline.

Living the life of a stray, a nomad cat, a ronin, or whatever you want to call them, poses some challenges on a daily basis but hey you're a upcoming legend of the streets strutting what you have to offer. Being a pet can be much easier at times but does come with some drawbacks of it's own.. Catch a mouse and present your newly acquired gift to find out more.

Cats are social animals; having cliques of their own. Having a friend to depend on is nice especially when you're too hungry to move or need a buddy to purr next to you and get you back to full health. Bringing food to your friend is always a nice surprise for them.

If you can make friends then you can definitely make enemies. Did they take your mouse that you worked hard to catch during the storm or did they just look at your wrong? regardless of the answer you should go give them a piece of your mind! Using all the shouts, hisses, and swats that you can muster you should tell them exactly what you think of them.

Everyone that has ever been adopted by a cat can tell you that, even though they're incredible little friends, they can be tiny terrors if they think it's an appropriate time for it. City of Cats is no different, if you want to run up and make a mess on the rug well.. you can.. or you could sit and just take in the scenery. Until you need to sharpen your claws on the sofa of course...

    Controller Support and More!

City of Cats Update 0.0.2.021 - Controller Support & Quality of Life ImprovementsThat time has come where there's another update based on your feedback and the roadmap. Here's what's new:Controller SupportComplete gamepad compatibility is now live. Yes, this does mean that nearly all of City of Cats now works on Steamdeck. However, lower your settings to medium or low. This is something I'm looking into. Controller support has been requested but it does also just feel right so here's the new feature list:Full controller supportCustomisable keybinds - reassign any action to any buttonSeamless switching between keyboard and controller anytime you likeDynamic button prompts that update based on your current input methodNote: one of the camera modes is not very fun with a controller but I'd rather leave the choice in for everyone just in case. Display & Audio OptionsProper settings menus are finally here:Multiple resolution optionsSeparate volume controls for music, SFX, and ambient audioWindowed, fullscreen, and borderless window modesConsistent styling throughout the settings menuJournal ImprovementsCat levelling is now much more transparent. Your journal displays exactly how stats will change when levelling up, giving you an idea of what's to come from following your instincts. I've also added a small door indicator to show when you have access to houses. You can see below the current level has no house access but the next one allows the cat in housesFinal NotesI'm continuing to work through the roadmap and will have more updates soon as well as new additions in the roadmap found here -> Roadmap Full ChangelogNew FeaturesController Support with full keybind support Live control scheme swappingResolution and audio settings (finally!)Added a way to see how your cat stats will change when levelling up (journal)General Fixes/ImprovementsFixed an issue that would cause the instinct to "sit under a bush" to be impossible to completeFixed an issue that caused the weather to...

    Tutorial and more!

The time has come, City of Cats has a tutorial! This has taken longer than I expected however I was able to extend a few systems that already existed that will give the game more flexibility in later updates. The tutorial's content will be extended as City of Cats evolves so keep a look out for tutorial updates. I've tried to keep it as straight forward and helpful as possible outlining the actions that need to be taken as well as the related keybindings. If you spot something that could be improved then let me know! Happy catting!- Owen Full Changelog: - New Features - Full Offline Tutorial - 2 new achievements - General Fixes/Improvements - Decreased firefly appearance frequency - Pick up / drop animations added - Adjusted size of the HUD bars seen in the stats menu to be closer to what looks correct - Removed unused stat - UI Sound effects (Part of a larger UI update) - Improved precalc jump to allow for jumps that the were previously impossible - Reworked instinct system to allow for more creative instincts and tutorial only instincts

You can now "unstuck" your cat!

I've added a new option in the pause menu to allow people to free trapped cats and return them to the closest safe location. To use it just go to the pause menu and click "Unstuck", it's as easy as that! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45484482/dbf9fb66d1b17529278dfd2fee803b55dd15f37c.gif I've also dropped in a few fixes that were missed out on the cat recode relating to achievements and some instincts being triggered correctly Happy catting! - Owen
